Chapter 122: Kaelen’s Crew
“Haha, today’s trip to the mainland was totally worth it.”
Kaelen laughed out loud, his gaze resting on the three beauties he had hired from Purple River Gate for his carnal pleasures.
The ship that Kaelen and his subordinates used was a sleek, black vessel with tattered sails billowing in the wind.
Despite its worn appearance, it was bolstered with various Array Formations, allowing it to slice through the waves easily.
On the deck, rows of runic cannons gleamed in the sunlight, ready to be unleashed at a moment’s notice. The crew, dressed in dark attire, moved with purpose as they went about their tasks, their expressions grim and determined.
As the ship sailed further away from the Purple River Gate’s harbor, the outline of the mainland faded into the distance, replaced by the vast expanse of the sea.
The ship surged forward with determination, its destination clear: the island where Kaelen had established his base of operations.
Kaelen was a formidable figure hailing from the Isla kingdom and closely affiliated with the Sun Ocean Society. As a 9th stage Spirit Refiner, he stood on the brink of transcending into the realm of Foundation Building, much like Nuya herself.
Kaelen possessed a commanding presence, standing tall with a muscular physique. His demeanor exuded confidence and authority, instilling respect and fear in equal measure among those who crossed his path.
As a Spirit Refining Perfectionist, Kaelen wielded formidable elemental abilities, with mastery over water and wind elements. His combat skills were honed to perfection, and he was known to wield a top-tier 1st order trident imbued with potent Spirit spells.
Moreover, Kaelen’s influence extended beyond his own formidable capabilities, as he commanded a loyal cadre of seven skilled subordinates, each a formidable Spirit Refiner in their own right.
Together, they formed a formidable force that safeguarded Kaelen’s interests and maintained his dominance over the island under his control.
“Yeah, it’s good that we stocked up on a lot of supplies from the mainland as well,” Roran said, his gaze fixed on the endless sea with a pensive expression. He then turned to look at Kaelen before continuing, “that being said, big brother Kaelen, today was an exception. But we shouldn’t be leaving the island often in the coming months.”
Roran had a medium build, with fiery red hair and a rugged demeanor that spoke of his fierce determination. As a wielder of fire-elemental Spirit spells, Roran commanded the flames with unparalleled intensity. His mastery over fire granted him unparalleled offensive capabilities, making him a fearsome adversary on the battlefield.
“Hm? And why is that?”
Kaelen asked curiously, his gaze shifting to Roran.
The latter didn’t seem surprised by Kaelen’s question. He shook his head before elaborating.
“It seems you didn’t even bother to read the report the sect sent us this morning. It seems the Purple River Sect is soon going to take actions against you. It is said that they have hired someone named Nuya Netherfrost to target you.”
Roran explained, his eyes flickering with concern as he glanced at Kaelen and then at the three women he was currently surrounded by and happily flirting with.
“Roran is right, Kaelen,” Lyra, another of Kaelen’s subordinates, interjected, her tone grim.
“We should have sent some low-stage Spirit cultivators to run these errands for us. The entire archipelago is too unstable these days for us to be roaming freely in the seas,” she added, her gaze scanning their surroundings warily from the deck of the ship, which offered an unobstructed view for miles.
Lyra was a slender and graceful woman with long, flowing silver hair and piercing blue eyes that seemed to shimmer with inner power. A master of water-elemental Spirit spells, Lyra wielded her elemental powers with finesse, conjuring powerful torrents and controlling the ebb and flow of water with unmatched precision.
It seemed that there were some spies from the Sun Ocean Society in the Purple River Sect who had leaked some of its confidential information. Then again, this was pretty normal when it came to the big five sects. The Spirit cultivators belonging to these five sects had already assumed that they had spies in their sects.
“Hahahaha. I could have never imagined that they would hire that girl Nuya to target me. It seems the world really is small,” Kaelen laughed, his demeanor relaxed as he addressed his subordinates’ concerns.
“It seems Nuya’s uncle in the Purple River Sect still doesn’t want to let things go. I had only accidentally killed some of her family members when I met them at sea. I said sorry and offered to give them some compensation. But it seems that these people from the Rokur Kingdom are as dumb and narrow-minded as they could be. Can you believe that?” Kaelen remarked casually, his voice tinged with a hint of disdain.
“So there’s a personal grudge involved? You never told us about this, Kaelen. This is even more of a reason for us to be careful. You shouldn’t have forced us to come with you on this trip. There should have been at least a few of us manning the Array Formation on the island,” Aria said, her gaze fixed on Kaelen disapprovingly.
Aria was an agile and nimble woman with windswept hair and bright green eyes that seemed to sparkle with mischief. A master of wind-elemental Spirit spells, Aria possessed unparalleled speed and agility, allowing her to move with the swiftness of the breeze and evade her enemies’ attacks with ease.
Of course, Aria had exaggerated a bit when she said that Kaelen had forced all of them to come. she , for one, would have visited the mainland anyway. After all, the auction event they had attended a few hours earlier was just too precious to miss.
“Haha. You guys worry too much,” Thorn, one of Kaelen’s subordinates, interjected, joining the conversation with a laugh.
“We have an Array Formation back at the island. We also have set up many traps, and there are many Spirit cultivators from the Sun Ocean Society who have been dispatched on the island.

They are mixed with the mortals and will come to our aid as soon as we are attacked by the sellswords of the Purple River Sect. As per the treaty mutually signed by the five big sects, the Purple River Sect is not going to take action personally by sending its official disciples.
As long as they are a bunch of mercenaries, we can handle them without breaking a sweat,” he explained, taking a swig from the wine bottle he held in his hand.
