Chapter 234: Justice Force And RAD (Research & Analysis Department)
Aron and Theo continued their conversation, discussing their progress and future goals, unaware of the hushed admiration around them.
The cafeteria buzzed with quiet conversations, but the center of attention was clearly on Aron and Theo. As they talked, discussing Aron’s graduation and future plans, other students couldn’t help but reflect on the duo’s journey.
A group of students at a nearby table whispered among themselves. “Remember that intra-class championship a few years ago? That’s where it all started,” one of them said, nodding towards Aron and Theo. “Theo was so impressed by Aron’s Aether Wisp. It was simple yet profound.”
Another student chimed in, “Yeah, even though Theo lost, he approached Aron after the match. They became friends right after that. Theo said Aron’s use of the Aether Wisp was like watching a master at work.”
“It’s interesting,” a girl added thoughtfully. “Despite being aloof, Aron didn’t mind Theo’s friendship. It’s like they balanced each other out.”
“True,” another agreed. “Most of us either felt inferior or too proud to get close to them. But Theo and Aron just clicked. Theo might be more popular, but Aron’s the real deal academically. He’s helped Theo with so many subjects.”
Back at Aron and Theo’s table, the conversation was just as engaging. Theo’s eyes sparkled with a mix of pride and sadness as he looked at his friend. “So, today’s the big day, huh? Graduation. I can’t believe you’re leaving, Aron.”
Aron gave a small smile. “Yeah, it’s about time for me to leave the nest I guess. I… I think I’m ready.”
Theo leaned forward, curiosity evident. “What’s the plan? What’s next for you?”
“I’ve decided to join the Research and Analysis Department (RAD) of the Acarnis World Government,” Aron replied, his tone steady and determined. “It aligns with my interests and skills. Plus, it’s a good opportunity to make a real impact.”
Theo nodded thoughtfully. “That’s perfect for you. Your analytical skills are unmatched. You’ll do great.”
Aron shrugged modestly. “I hope so. It’s a big responsibility, but I’m up for the challenge.”
Theo sighed as he looked at the young man who had become his inspiration. “I’m going to miss our sparring sessions and study nights. You’ve taught me so much, Aron. More than just academics or paid Aether Wisp control lessons.”
Aron’s smile widened slightly. “I think you’ll do fine. Remember, you have a better Aether Wisp than me. There are endless possibilities for you as well. I’m sure those boring guys would send you an invitation as well just before you are about to graduate.”
Theo’s expression turned serious. “I will. I’ll keep working hard. I promise. And you better stay in touch. I want to hear about all the amazing things you’ll do at RAD.”
“Count on it,” Aron said, clapping Theo on the shoulder. “We’ll always be in touch.”
Theo then hesitated before asking Aron what he had in his mind all along. “Aron, is this true that you were invited by the Justice Force as well?
Aron paused for a bit, turning to Theo with a thoughtful expression. “Well, it is indeed true,” Aron said, his voice steady.
Theo raised an eyebrow, curious. “Then what did you say to them? And why are you thinking of joining the Research & Analysis Department if you were already invited by the Justice Force?”
“Hehe. It’s because I’m not interested in joining them,” Aron revealed, his tone casual.
Theo’s eyes widened in shock. “Aron, are you crazy? It is THE Justice Force you know? Its members dominate the League of Heroes list?”
Aron nodded. “I know. So what?”
Theo stared at Aron in disbelief. He couldn’t believe that Aron was saying what he considered to be the best choice for any Aether practitioner in Acarnis. He took some time to collect his thoughts and looked at Aron with serious expressions before speaking up.
“You know, Aron. Joining the Justice Force has been my dream for as long as I can remember. They’re the ones who confront the otherworlders directly, protect our world, and are respected by everyone in Acarnis. Plus, they have access to all the resources they need to progress quickly in their Aether cultivation.”
Aron’s face remained calm, though there was a hint of a smile at Theo’s enthusiasm. “I know. It’s a great honor, and they have privileges that even the regular personnel of the world government don’t have.”
Theo shook his head, trying to process the information. “So you are not accepting their invitation even after knowing everything about them? I… I don’t get it.”
Aron chuckled. “I am not interested in fame and wealth, Theo. I’m interested in the pursuit of knowledge instead. This is why I’ve decided to join the Research and Analysis Department (RAD) instead.”
Theo felt like he was developing a headache explaining things to Aron.
“I really don’t get you sometimes. Even if that were to be the case, why would you reject the Justice Force’s invitation? You know you can carry on with your research while being a Justice Force member.
With their resources, you could progress so much faster in your Aether cultivation. Reaching the Wisp Mastery realm in two decades, maybe even less, wouldn’t be impossible for you.”

Aron’s expression grew more serious. “I’ve thought about it a lot. The Justice Force offers wealth, fame, and rapid progress in Aether cultivation. But that’s not what I’m after. In RAD, I can focus on research, understand more about Aether, and perhaps even uncover secrets that will benefit everyone.”
Theo looked at Aron, trying to comprehend his friend’s decision. “But you’d be giving up so much. The recognition, the privileges, the chance to be one of the heroes…”
Aron placed a hand on Theo’s shoulder. “I understand, Theo. But this is what I want. And besides, the Justice Force isn’t the only way to make a difference. I can still contribute greatly through my research.”
Theo sighed, his admiration for Aron growing. “I guess I understand. It’s just… I’ve always seen you as someone who could be a great hero. But maybe, being a hero doesn’t just mean fighting on the frontlines. Maybe it’s about making the right choices for yourself and the greater good.”
Aron smiled. “Exactly. And I believe RAD is where I can do the most good. But don’t worry, Theo. I have no doubt that you’ll achieve your dream and join the Justice Force. You have the heart and the strength for it.”
Theo nodded, a determined look in his eyes. “Thanks, Aron. I’ll keep working hard. And you, don’t forget to visit sometimes, okay? I want to hear all about your discoveries.”
“I promise to keep in touch,” Aron said, his smile widening. “And I’ll be keeping an eye on your progress too. You’re going to do great things, Theo.”
As they walked out of the cafeteria, the other students watched them with a mixture of envy and admiration.
Theo and Aron, the two rising stars of Rogalia School, were taking different paths, but both were destined for greatness in their own ways.
