Chapter 405: Druid Potion-induced Breakthrough: Becoming mid-stage Foundation Building Expert
“I wonder if I could kidnap children with this flute. Not that I would…”
Aksai chuckled, recalling a folklore from his previous world.
‘Guess I should give you a name now,’ he thought, sensing the artifact spirit’s excitement through their connection. He rubbed his chin, contemplating the perfect fit.
“How about… Bansi?” he offered aloud, and the flute responded with an enthusiastic tune that echoed warmly in his mind.
“Alright, Bansi it is,” he said with a grin. With their bond now complete, Aksai felt a steady hum from the flute within his Soul Space. It was an artifact that would only continue to grow in both strength and complexity alongside him.
Aksai eyed the mysterious potion in his hand. He couldn’t quite predict the potion’s full effects, but there was only one way to find out.
Without hesitation, he uncorked the vial and downed the liquid in a single gulp. Almost instantly, he could feel the potion spreading throughout his body and into his Spirit veins, igniting a curious warmth that sank deep within him.
Closing his eyes, he sat cross-legged and focused on his cultivation technique, Sun Moon Duality, drawing in both light and shadow with each breath.
The warmth from the potion intensified, and his Spirit bloodline activated in response. It felt like his body was undergoing a complete overhaul from the inside out.
He could feel his druidic nature sharpening, evolving, as his bloodline refined itself, making him feel more connected to the natural energies around him. A flicker of discomfort began at his core and spread outward, only to be followed by a wave of pure energy.
His druid transformation triggered without conscious effort, fusing him even more with the Spirit essence flowing into him.
Then, he felt a prickling heat building under his skin, and he realized his body was ridding itself of impurities. A foul-smelling, blackish-gray gunk began to ooze from his skin, covering him in layers of grime. It was as if he was suddenly bathed in the muck of spoilt eggs.
Despite the uncomfortable sensation, Aksai stayed focused on Sun Moon Duality, letting the refining process take its course. His cultivation speed surged, drawing in Spirit essence at an accelerated rate that felt like his entire being was on fire.
He grit his teeth to stifle a shout, as a strange, agonizing-yet-rejuvenating feeling coursed through his bones and organs. He could only describe it as a form of rebirth through mortal vessel cleansing.
The impurities kept purging, and he could feel them scraping out even the tiniest remnants of past injuries and setbacks, leaving behind a sensation of being freshly renewed. His Spirit essence reserves filled and then overflowed, only for his body to absorb more.
His bloodline seemed to be drinking it in as well, refining itself and strengthening his connection to the druidic powers. Unbeknownst to him, his own vessel was also being tempered, pulling him further from his human roots and into something closer to the Spirit energies surrounding him.
After what felt like an eternity, he felt his Spirit veins changing, his gaseous Spirit essence now condensing into shimmering droplets of liquid. It circulated through him with a richness and intensity he hadn’t experienced before, settling into a rhythm that felt completely natural.
The last of the dead skin around him crumbled, revealing fresh, youthful skin. Aksai finally opened his eyes and took in a deep breath, blinking against the brighter world around him. He didn’t just feel different—he was different.
“I… I broke through?”
Looking at his hands, he could sense the subtle changes within. His cultivation had broken through to the 4th stage of the Foundation Building realm. “Mid-stage Foundation Building… I actually did it,” he whispered, a grin spreading across his face.
Aksai was only supposed to become a mid-stage Foundation Building Expert after a decade or two. Even with the resources from two worlds and stacking all his advantages, Aksai couldn’t just defy common sense. But that very common sense was shattered right in front of him because of the mysterious liquid.
“This place is indeed made for druids,” he murmured.
Aksai stood, stretching as he burned away the lingering impurities on the ground with a flash of his Spirit essence.
“Hmm… I feel good.”
He felt like a new person, light and powerful, with sharper senses and a more profound connection to the essence of the cave. Even his vision felt clearer, as though he could almost see the Spirit energy threading through the air.
“Not bad,” he chuckled, clenching his fists to test the strength in his muscles. “Feels like it wasn’t just the potion—this whole cave helped push me over the edge. Totally worth coming here,” he murmured with a grin.
Surveying the platform, an idea struck him, and a mischievous spark lit up his eyes. “Why not farm the third stage again? Maybe there’s more where that potion came from,” he thought, glancing back at the platform, his gaze lingering greedily.
Rubbing his hands together, he began setting up, summoning three puppets alongside him. Lini, who had been quietly observing, caught on instantly, and with a resigned sigh, she unsheathed her sword, her gaze steady but faintly exasperated.
The moment Aksai resolved to try again, the platform’s array flared to life, bathing the area in an eerie glow. In a matter of seconds, five familiar corrupted druids materialized on the stage, but this time there was a twist: one of the druids had an aura that matched his own, marking it as a mid-stage Foundation Building expert.
“Great,” Aksai muttered, rolling his eyes. “The cave’s not about to let me cheat, is it?”

With a grin, he prepared to dive in, his puppets and Lini flanking him as they squared off with the druids. Right from the start, it was obvious that the difficulty had been cranked up.
The mid-stage druid moved faster than the others, lashing out with brutal force, while the others cast complex elemental spells that combined to form powerful, coordinated attacks. The cave was clearly punishing him for the attempt to “farm” resources, and he could feel it in every strike he deflected.
Aksai threw down talismans in rapid succession, some creating barriers while others exploded with force, disorienting the corrupted druids just long enough for his puppets to get in a few blows.

Only a few minutes later.
After what felt like an eternity of clashing Spirit energy, Aksai finally managed to cut down the druids one by one, his trump cards and talismans depleting with each foe. His last puppet shattered, and even Lini had sustained injuries, her breathing heavy as she stumbled back.
With a final strike, Aksai unleashed a blast of energy, obliterating the last druid in a blaze of light. He stood, panting, scanning the platform for his reward.
And there was…nothing. No glimmer of treasure, no potion, not even a faint hint of Spirit essence.
Aksai’s shoulders sagged, and he muttered a string of curses under his breath. “This damned cave,” he groaned, kicking the ground in frustration. He had exhausted so many of his resources for nothing.
“Well, lesson learned—don’t try to double-dip with this place.” He took a long breath, calming himself before looking ahead to the path leading toward the next stage.
