Affinity:Chaos - Chapter 1781
Chapter 1781: Raging Flames Region III
Grey didn’t want to waste any time, he only had a year to stay here. Although this wasn’t his initial plan when he went to visit his family, he had no choice. This was an opportunity for him to grow stronger quicker. If the genius Sir Astarot spoke about left behind anything good, then Grey didn’t mind taking it and using them to boost his strength. The Gnomes would attack any moment from now, he didn’t have the luxury to pass on such opportunities.
A few days later, he arrived at the Capital City of the Raging Flame Territory. He didn’t directly seek the Family the genius died in their grounds, all he did was hang around the City to know what was happening around. He soon caught wind of a news that made him furrow his brows.
‘Why’s it like this?’
Grey was seated in an Inn, and he overheard what a young man who rushed in a few seconds ago said to his friends who were a group of five a few tables across. Apparently, there was a Family that its Clan Leader was going to be executed in a few minutes. The name of the Clan whose Clan Leader was about to be executed was surprisingly the same as the one who the genius from the Vaergahl Family died in their grounds.
Without hesitation, he rushed after the group of young men who were headed towards the place where the Clan Leader was about to be executed. On getting to the place, it was shockingly the Family Manor gates.
Looking at the name boldly written there, Grey’s eyes couldn’t help but twitch. The reason for this was because the design Clan Family name is written on was the same as the one Sir Astarot told him.
He didn’t need any more inquiries to know that this was the Family he was supposed to visit, the McCall Family.
He looked ahead and saw a group gathered, the leader of the group was surprisingly a Sixth stage Venerable. Behind the leader of this group were six people, and two of them were closely by his side, both were First stage Sovereigns.
Sovereigns weren’t people that could be summoned wantonly. For a Venerable to have two First stage Sovereigns by his side only meant that he had a powerful background. Of course, this didn’t concern Grey. Even a Peak Sovereign wouldn’t scare him, much less a couple of First stage Sovereigns. Knowing that he had nothing to fear, he decided to watch what was about to happen to know how to react. Although he needed the help of the McCall Family, he still wouldn’t carelessly step forward to assist them when he didn’t even know if they were the ones in the wrong.
Staying silent in the crowd outside the gates, Grey focused on the scene ahead of him.
Other than the young man’s group of seven, there was another group standing opposite them. The one leading this group was a Peak Venerable, and he was the only Peak Venerable at that. The rest of the people in his group were all in the Eighth stage of the Venerable Plane and lower. His group consisted of twelve people, seven old looking men like himself, two old ladies, three younger ladies, and one young man whose expression was extremely gloomy.
The young man was also a Sixth stage Venerable like the young man on the opposite side, however, there were no Sovereigns on his end, and he wasn’t the leader of his group either.
“Young Lord Mark, I’ll personally come to your place and offer you an explanation.” The Peak Venerable on the other group spoke up. He was an old man who looked to be in his seventies, however, all his hair had grown white, including his beards.
“Does it look like I want to negotiate with you?” The young man referred to as Mark asked with a cold expression.
“Old dog, offer up your life, that’s the only way I can let that little thing go. If not, I’ll wipe out your entire Family.” Mark added with a nonchalantly expression. He didn’t even put the lives of all the people inside the McCall manor. As long as this old man didn’t do what he wished, then he’d really ask for the execution of these people.
“Young Lord Mark, don’t go too far.” The old man at the Peak of the Venerable Plane from the McCall Family yelled, his body shaking from anger, but there was nothing he could do. He was already willing to even go as far as offering the family’s top treasure to Mark in hopes to quell his anger, but he never expected him to be this ruthless. He didn’t even want to accept the treasure.
“What? You think you can bribe me with treasures?” Mark spat disdainfully as he continued, “What can your small family offer that I can’t get my hands on. Even if there’s anything of value your family has, I’ve taken claim of it, so it’s mine now.”
The crowd sucked in a deep breath when they heard this. Mark was blatantly claiming ownership of the McCall family treasure right in front of the family’s top experts.
Everyone from the McCall Family had their fists clenched, as veins could be seen popping on the heads of those present. Even the ladies had expressions filled with anger and hatred.
“You stupid clown! If not that you were too weak, I wouldn’t have beaten you.” The young man in the Sixth stage of the Venerable Plane from the McCall Family couldn’t take it any longer and reacted, pointing his hands at Mark’s face, “You think you can make me suffer by doing this? Only I have the right to decide my…”
The young man from the McCall Family was still in the middle of his speech when Mark laughed out loud as if he was looking at a complete moron.
“What? You believe I can’t make you suffer if you commit suicide?”
