Chapter 1818: Isn’t He Worried I’d Kill Him?
Raging Flames City.

Grey has been in the City for about four weeks now, and other than the time he visited the City Lord’s Manor, he has been in the McCall Family Manor all through the rest of his stay. Most of his time was spent in studying the array formation left behind by Jacob Vaergahl. Even with Jacob’s teachings, it was still quite difficult for Grey to fully grasp the knowledge of the array formation.

Other than studying this array formation, he spent the rest of his time telling the Old men a thing or two about breaking through to the Sovereign Plane. Although they knew some information, it’s different when there’s a legit Sovereign there showing them the way. Grey didn’t hide anything from them and told them all he knew.

Time went by in the blink of an eye, and another week went by in a flash. In a week, Grey noticed the increased speed at which the youths from the McCall Family were growing. Compared to the older generations, the younger ones haven’t had the strings attached to them for too long, so they could advance by leaps and bounds unlike the older generation who needed some time to recover all the lost essence.

On this day, Grey was in the array formation, trying to see if he could alter it for the McCall Family. Since Jacob’s remains have been sorted out by Grey, there was no point in making that place inaccessible to those of the McCall Manor. In fact, it had the highest concentration of elemental essence in the Manor, so it was the perfect place for secluded cultivation. All six Old men already have access to the hill. Pausing what he was doing, he turned to look in a certain direction. Without a word he vanished from where he was standing.

Somewhere in the McCall Manor.

Grey appeared behind a familiar figure, Lord Harry, the Vice City Lord of Raging Flames City.

“Is it time?” He asked, not asking why Lord Harry sneaked into the McCall Manor without alerting anyone.

“The City Lord wants to discuss a few things with you before the trip.” Lord Harry was taken by surprise when he suddenly heard a voice behind him, but recalling Grey’s mysterious movement ability, he didn’t panic.

“Oh, if that’s the case, then let’s go.” Grey nodded, he knew the City Lord would naturally want to discuss the trip with him once it’s time to leave.

Grey followed Lord Harry back to the City Lord’s Manor, entering the Manor unseen. On the way to City Lord’s Vaughn’s residence, he saw the young man who had an argument with the McCall Family that initially wanted to cause their destruction.

The young man, seeing Grey walking alongside Lord Harry had a change of expression, he had asked for the destruction of the McCall Family on a few occasions, and he was not only reprimanded by his father, even his grandfather who has always doted on him warned him not to mess with the McCall Family. If his guess was correct, it all had to do with Grey, a young man who looked to be around his age. Seeing even his mighty grandfather wary of someone his age is not only hard to bear, but it was also impossible for him to believe. In his entire years of living, he has never heard of someone his age that could make his grandfather wary. Even the Raging Flames Faction didn’t have anyone of that caliber, unless they were using their backgrounds.

Grey noticed the malice hidden in the young man’s gaze, but he didn’t care. To him the young man is no different from an ant, so why should he worry about him? Even the young man’s father is nothing more than an ant to Grey, much less the young man himself. He didn’t even spare the young man another glance, heading deep into the City Lord’s Manor.

The young man gritted his teeth in anger, turning to the surviving Protector. He usually has two Protectors with him, unfortunately, one of them was killed during Grey’s first visit to the City Lord’s Manor. Although Lord Harry and his father didn’t tell him what happened, he found out from the other Protector that Grey was the one who caused the Black Protector’s death. The fact that Grey was not just standing, but is even currently invited to the City Lord’s Manor meant that his background is probably on the same level as being the Young Lord of a top Faction like the Raging Flames Faction.

‘Father has never spoken of anyone like this from the Raging Flames Faction. Where could he have popped out from?’

Grey’s mysterious identity is the only reason he wasn’t rushing to his grandfather for Grey’s head. If Grey is on the same level as the Young Lord of the Raging Flames Faction, then even his grandfather, the City Lord of Raging Flames City wouldn’t dare to speak back to him.

“I can’t accept this…” He muttered to himself.

The surviving Protector looked at the young man, unsure of what to say to him. All he knew is that he never wanted to be in the same space as Grey. His partner of years is dead, and Grey barely moved a finger. The thought of what Grey might be capable of if he decides to make a move scared the shit out of him.

….

City Lord Vaughn’s private room.

He was currently sitting down cross-legged, with both Grey and Lord Harry standing before him.

“Little Friend, you came.” City Lord Vaughn stood up and shook Grey’s hand. Grey returned the courtesy, before going straight to the point.

City Lord Vaughn didn’t have any problems with discussing the reason he called Grey over. He gave him a rundown of his plans and how he wanted the exploration to go. According to the City Lord, they’ll pick up two others on the way. Each of them were in the Seventh stage of the Sovereign Plane. While saying this, the City Lord kept his eyes on Grey’s face all through, trying to see if he could see through his thoughts from his expression. Seeing his indifferent expression, a surprised look appeared on his face.

‘Isn’t he worried I’d kill him?’ City Lord Vaughn was a little surprised by Grey’s indifference.
