Affinity:Chaos - Chapter 1851
Chapter 1851: A Clue About The Cores
A cave situated in an icy mountain.
Grey’s figure could be seen moving continuously, drawing array lines on the ground, stopping occasionally to observe his work. A few minutes later he stopped, whipping the sweat from his face.
It has been four weeks since he escaped from the encirclement of those from the Twilight Faction, since then, he has been running around the vast realm, creating one teleportation array after another. From time to time he will encounter a group from the Twilight Faction who were searching for him, and without hesitation, he kills them once they make any attempt on him.
Since he did not have a certain direction, he would randomly choose a path and continue, while creating a teleportation array in a hidden location.
Looking at the array formation before him, he nodded in satisfaction.
The bunny leader suddenly appeared and said, “They are close.”
“Since they still want to play, I’ll play with them until it’s time to leave.” Grey snorted before taking a step into the teleportation array, disappearing with a flash of light.
A few seconds after the light faded, a group of four appeared. Three Old men whose hairs and beards were white, while the other was an Old Lady with a walking cane. Looking at her randomly, one would think she is a harmless old woman, but only true experts will sense the faint ripples of a Peak Sovereign emanating from her.
“Why did the Faction Leader suddenly involve us all in such a minor matter?” One of the Old men asked, curiously inspecting the lines before it disappeared. This Old Man was in golden robes, with both hands placed behind his back. The insignia on the robe was the same as the Twilight Faction’s insignia.
“No one knows. But he heard from Galahad about a strange boy with a strange ability to go from one place to another in an instant.” Another Old Man dressed in red and black robes explained, with amazement in his eyes, he added, “Looks like it is true.”
“An ability to go from one place to another in an instant.” The last Old Man who was in all black robes clicked his tongue, “To think such an heaven-defying ability exists. If I did not witness it personally, I would have never believed it.”
“Is it possible to tell where this thing leads?” The Old Lady asked with a frown. They rushed here after getting information of Grey’s whereabouts being exposed when passing through a Town. Just after confirming it was him, he vanished after a bright flash, leaving them behind. If they could not locate him, then their journey is fruitless.
“According to the initial reports, the first one of these things he made did not take him for more than a hundred kilometers radius of this place. But it’s unknown how it works since at that time, it was created in a rush.” The Old Man in red and black explained with a calm voice.
“Since that’s the case. Spread out.”
All four Peak Sovereigns flew in four different directions, all hoping to catch Grey’s exit very quickly.
While the four were searching for Grey, in an open area in a dense forest around two hundred and fifty kilometers north from the ice mountain, a light suddenly flashed and Grey’s appeared. His sudden appearance scared off the creatures around this place. Snorting coldly, he tried to see if this was the right destination. Over the past four weeks, he has created multiple connecting arrays. After confirming this was the place he intended to come to, he flew into the air with the aid of his wind element and shot straight to the north. Another array was hidden somewhere there, using it, he teleported again. In this manner, Grey was able to quickly travel tens of thousands of kilometers in a matter of a few hours.
Outside the lake where the underwater cave was located, Grey’s figure appeared in a streak of light. He did not delay, diving into the water, heading to the underwater cave.
Arkhos and the other Magical Beasts were patiently waiting for Grey’s return. Seeing him return with a somewhat pale face, they showed signs of worry. Grey assured them that he was just exhausted and after a good rest, he would be back to normal. After saying this, he looked at Arkhos and informed them that they could leave this place, but they will have to ensure they did not return to this region as those from the Twilight Faction are out on the look for Magical Beasts too. Knowledge of the portal to the Magical Beast Forest should not be divulged to these people under any circumstances.
Grey spent the rest of the day resting there, he had to make sure he was fully recovered before leaving the cave. Over the past month or so, he realized the power the Twilight Faction held. Being the number one Faction meant that they were more or less the ruling Force. Although some members of the Faction are unreasonable, it was not always like the case of someone being beheaded.
Grey traveled through multiple regions and noticed the Twilight Faction is still able to get people around these places. At first he was purposefully exposing his whereabouts so as to lure the Twilight Faction away from the Magical Beasts, but over time, he realized before he could even expose his whereabouts he will have been exposed. He even resorted to never going close to Cities, yet the small Towns and Villages he occasionally passes through still leave behind clues. If not for the fact that he was not a native of this place, he would not need to visit these places, but this world was just too big. Due to the size of the place, he frequently needed to get maps after getting to certain places.
While creating these arrays, they will eventually lead him to where the exit portal was located. Not just him, but the others too. If his guess is not wrong, then they only needed to stay here for about two to three more months. At that time, they will have to leave this place.
After a day of rest, he had recovered. He had already fully healed from his injuries about two weeks ago. Using the teleportation array, they left this place.
A day later, Grey and the Magical Beasts got to the place where he had to separate from them, before leaving, he remarked, “It would be wise if you contacted the others and left. I can still easily blend in, but it’s not the same for you guys.”
“Thank you once again for your help.” Arkhos thanked Grey sincerely before leaving with the other Magical Beasts.
Grey watched them leave before his expression turned sharp, there were still a few places of interest, and during the last month or so while he was going around creating array formations, he stumbled upon more of those cores, two to be precise. He found a note at the abandoned Manor where one of these cores was found. The note spoke about a ritual to open up a path that led beyond the sky.
The sentence ‘A path that led beyond the sky’ took Grey by surprise, not sure what it meant. But from this note, he was not only able to realize that this was bigger than normal, he was also able to figure out some clues as to where he could locate more of these cores. At the back of the note was what looked like a map with scribbles that had small bright red spots. There were twenty red spots in total. Only after further inspection did he realize that it was a map of the entire realm, but due to how small the note was, it was not too descriptive. The map was obtained after passing through a Town before the ice mountain.
Although the details of the map were vague, he could still make out a bit of some of the terrains, for instance where he was at the time he got the map.
Now that he was separated from the Magical Beasts, his focus was on the map. Taking it out, he took some time to figure out his rough location on the map and headed in the direction of the nearest red spot.
The Twilight Faction were still searching for him, but he did not really care. Now that the Magical Beasts were out of his care, he was more relaxed. He did not even worry about being discovered, as he was confident he would be able to escape if he was found. These Peak Sovereigns might be powerful, but with Void and the bunny leader helping him, he did not believe they would be able to keep him in one place.
The days went by in a flash and after getting the first one, he soon got another one. Before long, he forgot about the Twilight Faction and fully focused on getting these cores.
