Chapter 1004: I’ll Do It!
“Dad, you’re overthinking,” the woman walked over, pulling him back to his seat.
“It’s fine, what’s there to fear? The whole town is on our side. If anyone comes, someone will surely tip us off,” Lei Dao said, his face finally relaxing.
He looked at his daughter with appreciation. “Lulu, you’re clever. You thought of using these people as our informants. It’s far better than us finding someone ourselves to watch them.”
Upon hearing this, Lei Lu smiled with pride. “Of course. Who wouldn’t want to make money? Except for that idiot.”
When she mentioned Niu Wei, she gritted her teeth in frustration.
Yes, she had indeed deliberately approached him, but it was because she saw his potential. She even went so far as to have a child with him, all in hopes of drawing him into their scheme. But what happened? The man was stubborn. No matter how much she tried to persuade him, he refused to join them.
He was such a fool!
Lei Dao, however, felt that the situation wasn’t all bad. He said, “Leaving him in the police station is fine. That way, if anything happens there, we can know right away.”
“Besides, we have the child to hold over him. He won’t dare betray us.”
Lei Lu nodded in agreement, signaling for the meal to continue. “Come, come, let’s eat.”
The atmosphere in the room became lively again.
Qin Xu quietly peeked inside, nearly bursting with rage. There stood Zhouzhou, her eyes fixed on the hotpot on the table, practically salivating. The little girl was so bold—didn’t she fear being discovered by Lei Dao?
Zhouzhou didn’t care. She slowed her breathing, blending in with the others without showing any signs of killing intent. Her attention was solely on the hotpot, and Lei Dao wouldn’t suspect a thing.
Sure enough, Lei Dao didn’t notice anything unusual and continued speaking, “Once we deal with those people from the Criminal Investigation Division, Niu Wei will no longer be of any use to us, and we can get rid of him too.”
“But what about Chongchong?”
Lei Chong was the son of Lei Lu and Niu Wei.
Hearing this, Lei Lu curled her lips with a smile. “He’s of course my son, and your grandson.”
The implication was clear: he had no connection to Niu Wei.
They couldn’t let him grow up to be a police officer like his father, could they?
Lei Dao laughed heartily. “Not bad, not bad.”
“I taught Chongchong how to shoot a few days ago. He’s got a great sense for it. He’ll definitely be able to take over from me in the future.”
Lei Lu also smiled, clearly satisfied. “As expected, I picked the right genes. It’s just a pity. I originally had my eyes on Qin Xu.”
At this point, her tone grew a bit regretful.
Qin Xu had been the most talented among the police officers, and he was from the Qin family. If she had managed to pull him over to their side, their business would never have faced any trouble.
“It’s just a shame,” she said coldly. “He’s so ungrateful. He stuck with his violent wife and didn’t want me.”
When she mentioned Qin Xu’s wife, Zhouzhou shot her a glance, clearly displeased.
Her Second Uncle’s wife wasn’t violent!
She had been a police officer too, and was beautiful, kind, and very upright—nothing like the bad people in their group. Only someone as blind as Niu Wei would have fallen for her.
Thinking of this, Zhouzhou couldn’t help but roll her eyes in disdain.
It was no surprise that Lei Dao and Lei Lu thought the same way. They sighed with regret, just as she did.

“Who’s to say?” Lei Dao muttered. “Just thinking about it makes me angry.”
“Let’s find an opportunity to deal with his wife too. She’s just in the way,” Lei Lu casually suggested.
When she spoke of killing, there wasn’t a shred of emotion in her eyes. It was as if she was discussing something trivial.
Zhouzhou’s gaze shifted from the hotpot to her.
She deserved a beating!
A sudden smell of blood filled the air, and Lei Dao frowned, realizing something was wrong. He jumped up abruptly, shouting, “It’s bad, someone’s infiltrated!”
Everyone froze for a moment, quickly reaching for their guns. But before they could act, their bodies lurched, and they collapsed to the ground, feeling weak and powerless.
What was going on?
Just as Lei Dao was about to call for reinforcements, a small fist suddenly flew towards him.
Zhouzhou tore off her Invisibility Talisman and started delivering a beating to him.
After a while, she pulled Lei Lu over and started beating her too.
While she was punching, she angrily muttered, “This is what you get for doing bad things! Trying to kill my Second Aunt!”
“You think you can kill her?”
“She’s a hundred times better than you and will live a long life!”
Her sudden appearance stunned everyone. Father and daughter from the Lei family were left dazed as they were beaten black and blue. Where did this little brat come from?
At this moment, Qin Xu entered the room. He coldly glanced at the scene, quickly disarmed the pair, and tied them up with ropes. He used pig-hoof knots, rendering them immobile—the more they struggled, the tighter the knots became.
Seeing him, Lei Dao couldn’t believe his eyes.
Lei Lu’s eyes flickered as she coquettishly purred, “Qin Sir, you’re here. Were you missing me?”
Zhouzhou immediately turned to look at Qin Xu, her dark eyes full of warning. He better not nod!
Seeing her expression, Qin Xu couldn’t help but feel helpless. He absentmindedly tapped her on the forehead.
Was that how she thought of him?
Zhouzhou pouted, huffing. “Who knows?”
They were both determined to make each other uncomfortable today and were set on making things difficult for each other.
Qin Xu twitched his lips. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Lei Lu about to speak again. He swiftly punched her in the face.
Lei Lu’s nose bled profusely, and her face was a mess—no longer looking anything like her previous coquettish self.
She rolled her eyes and fainted.
Seeing this, Zhouzhou finally broke into a grin. “Alright, Second Uncle, you did well. I won’t tell my Second Aunt about this.”
Qin Xu was speechless. “I’m upright, and I haven’t done anything wrong to your Second Aunt. You have nothing to complain about.”
“Who says so!” Zhouzhou hugged her head. “I’m complaining about you hitting me!”
She was keeping track, so no one could get away with it.
What a petty little thing.
Her grudge was as small as her size!
Qin Xu didn’t dare say this out loud. If he did, she might very well force him to buy her a mountain of snacks to make up for it.
Clearing his throat, he said, “Let’s go. We’ll talk later. Let’s check on the others first.”
“Mmhm,” Zhouzhou nodded. Her expression immediately turned serious as she set up a formation at the door to prevent anyone from rescuing them.
They split into two groups and immediately moved out.
When they arrived, Qin Xu had shown her pictures of everyone involved. Just as they spotted one person trying to escape, Zhouzhou rushed forward and knocked them unconscious with a swift chop.
A teammate came running over, sighing with relief. “That was close. Zhouzhou, well done!”
Zhouzhou gave him a proud raise of her eyebrows.
Together, they captured the remaining criminals and brought them back to Lei Dao’s room.
After counting, everyone was there.
Just then, a police officer entered holding a child, saying, “Boss, what should we do with this kid?”
Everyone turned to look, and the sight of the child’s tear-streaked face tugged at their hearts. The child resembled Niu Wei, and their identity was clear.
For a moment, everyone felt a mix of emotions.
The wrongs of the adults were not the child’s fault.
With a soft sigh, Qin Xu murmured, “I…”
Before he could finish, Zhouzhou interrupted him, stepping forward confidently. “I’ll do it!”
