Chapter 1033: Look, a Spendthrift!
Upon hearing this, Qin Lie’s smile faltered slightly.
It had been quite a while since he’d seen Ye Lingfeng. He knew Ye was currently in B Nation, which most likely meant he was on a mission. Since Zhouzhou was also aware of this…
Qin Lie felt his heart tighten. He turned to Zhouzhou and asked, “Are you going to look for him?”
Zhouzhou nodded, then shook her head. “Sharp Tongue Dad said I shouldn’t go look for him. He said I should wait for him to find me.”
So, she would still be involved.
Qin Lie furrowed his brows but didn’t say anything.
Sensing his mood shift, Zhouzhou looked up at him with a tilted head, instantly understanding what was on his mind. She leaned over and planted a kiss on his cheek, trying to reassure him, “Daddy, don’t worry. With Sharp Tongue Daddy around, nothing will go wrong! He’ll protect me.”
Proudly, she patted her chest and said, “I’m also very capable now!”
Qin Lie couldn’t help but laugh at her antics, and his furrowed brows relaxed. He sighed, thinking that his little girl was growing up so quickly and developing her own ideas. There was no stopping her now.
“Since Ye Lingfeng said so, let’s just listen to him,” he said, gently patting her on the head.
“Mm!” Zhouzhou nodded and snuggled into his arms. “Daddy, I want to sleep in your bed tonight!”
“Sure.”
Zhouzhou immediately perked up and ran out. After taking a shower, she grabbed a blow dryer and headed back to find Qin Lie.
After drying her hair, she pulled Qin Lie into telling her a story. She didn’t stop for over an hour, and only when she finally felt sleepy did she tug on his sleeve, reluctantly drifting off to sleep.
In B Nation, she would be able to see Sharp Tongue Daddy, but she wouldn’t be able to see her Qin Daddy.
Sigh, when would she be able to see both of them at the same time?
She had to make a lot of money, so she could take care of them and let both dads retire early.
Then they could all be together!
With that thought, Zhouzhou’s resolve grew even stronger.
Unbeknownst to her, both Qin Lie and Ye Lingfeng secretly wished she would slow down her growth. After all, once she grew up, whether she was at school or working, she’d be too busy for them to see her often.
If they both retired and stayed home together, facing each other day in and day out…
Just the thought of it made Qin Lie shudder.
Who would want to be stuck looking at that old man? He’d rather be with his soft little girl!
Ye Lingfeng undoubtedly felt the same way.
But Zhouzhou hadn’t yet realized this. The next morning, after breakfast, she happily went to the airport.
Time to make some pension money!
As she left, Qin Lie sighed, seeing her rush away without even a backward glance.
She’s so ungrateful.
Zhouzhou, however, didn’t notice her dad’s silent lament. She was too busy looking out the window, feeling excited about what was ahead.

Just then, her smartwatch beeped. It was a message from Zheng Yu, reminding her of the same thing Ye Lingfeng had stressed earlier — to focus on the competition and treat it as her only task.
Zhouzhou rubbed her screen thoughtfully. She had a feeling this mission would be really dangerous. Otherwise, her dad wouldn’t keep emphasizing it like this.
She wondered whether they would be able to rescue the target in the end.
Her brows knitted in concern, but she quickly reassured herself. After all, her dad was so capable; he would definitely succeed!
With that thought, she smiled again, deleting the message and pretending nothing was wrong. She closed her eyes and waited.
She was going to be the best actress ever — watch her perform!
Nearly ten hours later, their plane finally landed in B Nation. A hotel shuttle was waiting to take them to their accommodation.
Zhouzhou, groggy and barely awake, yawned and leaned against Qin Er, who was dozing beside her.
Her dad had told her not to look for him, but at this point, she didn’t have the energy to.
Flying was exhausting.
Qin Er ruffled her hair. “Are you hungry?”
Zhouzhou nodded immediately, her energy returning at the thought of food. “Yes!”
Qin Er handed her a burger that he had saved from the plane. “Eat this to hold you over.”
“Mm-hmm,” Zhouzhou nodded, devouring the burger. But once she finished, she patted her belly, still hungry.
“Master, when will we get there?” Zhouzhou asked, looking towards Elder Xiao, who was seated in front of them.
Seeing the little girl’s drooping posture and lack of energy, Elder Xiao’s heart softened. He smiled and reassured her, “We’re almost there, just a little longer.”
He then urged the driver to speed up.
About ten minutes later, they finally arrived at their destination. After checking in, Elder Xiao hurriedly led the children to the dining hall.
Most of the children were around eleven or twelve, so they had good self-control and weren’t too rowdy.
Although Zhouzhou was a little young and could be a handful at times, she was generally well-behaved.
Especially when it came to meals; she wasn’t disruptive at all. She just ate a lot.
The portions at Western restaurants were small, and Zhouzhou had been hungry all day. In no time, the stack of empty plates in front of her was higher than her own height!
The waiter couldn’t help but glance at her, clearly surprised by how much she could eat.
Zhouzhou ignored their looks, focusing on finishing her food.
Brother Dafu had said that the host organization was covering the meal expenses, so why not eat to her heart’s content?
With that in mind, she pushed aside the empty plates and jumped to the ground, eager to grab more food.
In the midst of this, she wasn’t paying attention and accidentally stepped on someone’s foot. She quickly apologized, “Sorry.”
Almost instantly, she sensed a dangerous aura coming from the person she’d bumped into.
Zhouzhou instinctively glanced in the direction of the aura and saw a man sitting there, his presence almost invisible but carrying a strong, menacing energy.
Her heart skipped a beat, but she didn’t let it show. She quickly averted her gaze, pretending she’d merely noticed someone over there by accident.
“Sorry,” she said again.
Standing in front of her was a little boy, around eight or nine years old. He was dressed in a small suit with a bowtie, looking like a little gentleman, though his expression was one of disdain.
Zhouzhou’s eyes were drawn to his nose, as he looked down at her, clearly not wanting to engage in any conversation.
Soon, a person rushed over, squatted down, and pulled out a new pair of shoes.
The little boy calmly put on the shoes and glanced at the old pair on the floor, full of contempt. “Throw them away.”
The bodyguard nodded and, without even looking at the shoes, threw the expensive, barely worn leather shoes straight into the trash bin.
After all, this was the young master of the Brian family. They could afford to toss a few hundred-dollar shoes without a second thought.
Zhouzhou stared, her face filled with disbelief. She quickly turned to Qin Er, who was sitting next to her, and whispered, “Brother Dafu, look, a spendthrift!”
Qin Er looked over and nodded in agreement.
He had always worn clothes that were at least three years old — either patched up or handed down from his older brothers. They barely lasted long before he had to use them again.
Well, except for Zhouzhou.
Luckily, Zhouzhou didn’t know what was on his mind. Otherwise, the “money-obsessed duo” would have disbanded on the spot!
After they finished eating, Zhouzhou returned to her room. Just as she was reflecting on the person she had seen in the restaurant, her expression suddenly turned serious.
Just then, there was a knock on her door…
