Chapter 1036: Let Him Suffer
Brian Junior stood there, confused, watching Zhouzhou walk away. His brows furrowed slightly.
After a moment of thought, he decided to follow her. When he entered the restaurant, he saw several empty bowls already in front of Zhouzhou.
He walked over and said, “Little shorty, I know you finished all the questions, but finishing them doesn’t mean you did them right. You’re still not better than me.”
Zhouzhou replied with a muffled, uninterested sound, “…” her mouth full as she chewed away, ignoring him completely.
Brian Junior was taken aback. “Did you hear me?”
“….” Zhouzhou grumbled. The food here was just awful!
Seeing her behavior, Brian Junior’s brows furrowed even further. How could someone be so rude?
Just as he was growing increasingly displeased, a shadow quietly approached.
Zhouzhou, her eyes not even lifting, continued eating as though nothing had happened.
Brian Junior turned and saw Kurosaki. He scowled, “What are you doing here?”
Kurosaki glanced at him and said calmly, “The master said, anyone who makes you unhappy, kill them.”
Hearing this, Brian Junior’s brows furrowed even more. “When did I say I was unhappy? If you kill her now, how can I prove that I’m the smartest child?”
He wanted to defeat her based on his own skills, not by eliminating the competition. Otherwise, winning wouldn’t mean anything.
“Step aside.” He ordered.
Kurosaki immediately disappeared from his sight.
The conversation wasn’t loud, but Zhouzhou clearly overheard everything. Although she didn’t understand everything they said, she could feel the killing intent emanating from Kurosaki.
Just as her dad had said, even in broad daylight, he wasn’t one to hold back.
People like him had no respect for life.
Fuming, she took a huge bite of her hamburger.
Brian Junior glanced at her, his irritation growing as she ignored him. With an unhappy expression, he turned and left.
So rude.
Once he was gone, Zhouzhou finally lifted her eyelids, glanced at the door, and quickly returned her gaze to the food. She thought for a moment, then dashed over and grabbed a few more hamburgers, stuffing them into her pockets to eat later. That way, if she got hungry in the afternoon, she wouldn’t have to go out searching for food. And if she saw Kurosaki again, she wouldn’t be able to resist punching him.
That bad guy made her itch to strike!
She could control herself, but her fists weren’t as patient.
Knowing that Zhouzhou had a big appetite, Elder Xiao didn’t give it much thought. Seeing that everyone had finished eating, he said, “Let’s head back now.”
It was already afternoon, and tomorrow was the finals. There wasn’t much time to rest.
They needed to use the time wisely.
Thinking this, the other students nodded in agreement.
After a quick nap, they woke up, and Elder Xiao had them work through a few more problems. By the time it was 5 p.m., their phones buzzed.
The results were in.

Another teacher, who was leading the group, immediately sent the list to Elder Xiao. The students’ hearts skipped a beat when they saw it.
Elder Xiao spoke, “Regardless of whether you made it into the finals or not, you’ve already come this far, and that’s an achievement in itself. I’m proud of you all, so even if you didn’t make it, don’t be too upset.”
He smiled warmly, “And for those who made it, give it your all and take our dreams with you into the final battle.”
Hearing this, everyone nodded in agreement.
Zhouzhou looked up at him, a little nervous.
Not wanting to keep them waiting, Elder Xiao read the list aloud.
The finalists were: “Qin Er, Qin Caicai, Xie Zihao.”
Out of the ten finalists, three of them were from their group, which was already a great accomplishment.
Moreover, Qin Er and Zhouzhou were ranked first and second, so their chances in the finals were very high.
Thinking of this, Elder Xiao let out a sigh of relief.
Xie Zihao was ranked tenth, the last one to make it in, but that was impressive too.
Upon hearing the results, the three finalists were elated, while the other seven students looked a bit disappointed.
Zhouzhou ran over and hugged another girl, “Sister, don’t be sad! I’ll beat them for you!” she said cheerfully.
“And I’ll beat the older brothers too!”
The younger girl, younger than all of them, was comforting the others, making the whole group laugh. It was hard to believe that they, who were older, hadn’t yet learned to be as considerate as she was.
Seeing this, the others couldn’t help but feel a little more at ease. After all, just coming this far and seeing so much had already been an incredible experience.
Elder Xiao smiled and couldn’t help but chuckle at Zhouzhou’s actions. “Alright, Zhouzhou has already done my job for me.”
Once the mood had settled, Elder Xiao said, “Tomorrow, let’s all cheer for Qin Er, Zhouzhou, and Xie Zihao. After dinner tonight, we’ll go to bed early.”
“Got it!” everyone responded energetically.
At dinner, as expected, Zhouzhou ran into Brian Junior again.
His expression was far from pleasant.
Getting third place? That was something he had never considered.
Second place had been hard to accept, but third? Especially being surpassed by two Chinese kids? Brian Junior couldn’t think of a way to process that.
He raised his chin when he saw Zhouzhou and Qin Er, “Wait for it, tomorrow I’ll definitely defeat both of you!”
He made a dramatic declaration, but the siblings didn’t even look at him. They just walked into the dining area.
What a brainless idiot, all he did was spout threats and thought he was so impressive. But really, was that it?
Seeing their indifference only made Brian Junior angrier.
If he could beat them, maybe he could hold his head high, but now he had lost to both of them, and he couldn’t stop fuming. He couldn’t even eat his dinner properly, so he stormed back to his room and started solving problems again.
He wasn’t going to give up. Tomorrow, he would definitely beat them!
Meanwhile, Kurosaki glanced over at Zhouzhou and Qin Er’s direction before leaving.
Zhouzhou didn’t look back, but her brows furrowed slightly. She suddenly grabbed Qin Er’s arm and said, “Brother Dafu, can you sleep with me tonight? I’m scared.”
“Scared?” Qin Er was confused. “What are you scared of?”
She wasn’t a timid person, and she definitely wasn’t afraid of the dark or ghosts. Usually, it was ghosts that feared her.
So what was she scared of?
She didn’t fear anything—except for the possibility of him getting into trouble.
That bad guy had a heavy aura of killing intent earlier, and thinking back to what he’d said during lunch, Zhouzhou felt that Kurosaki might cause trouble for them.
She wasn’t afraid, but she was worried about Qin Er.
Thinking this, she said aloud, “I’m scared to sleep alone. Brother Dafu, will you stay with me?”
“Alright.” Qin Er didn’t press further and nodded.
He was also thinking about researching some ways to make money once the competition was over. They had two free days after the finals, and he had brought many local products that he hoped to sell.
But he didn’t get the chance to think much about it because Zhouzhou was clearly more worried.
After dinner, Zhouzhou grabbed his hand and pulled him to the room. She gave a quick glance at Ancestral Master.
She knew she might be under watch, and she couldn’t make a move now.
Ancestral Master understood. He nodded slightly.
Leave it to him!
If the bad guy was lurking around, then he’d let him experience a great haunting!
