Chapter 1147: Stumbling Block
Qi Cheng, the screenwriter Zhouzhou said would make it big last night, woke up to dozens of missed calls on his phone. He jumped up in alarm. What happened? Did they find out about his anonymous online rants?
A knock came at his door. He yawned and went to open it, only to freeze when he saw the people outside. Some were familiar faces from the dinner last night. There were others he didn’t recognize, but they were famous directors. He had offered them his script before, but they had all rejected him and treated him coldly, even escorting him out like a beggar.
But now, they were all smiling brightly, and one of the directors, who had been the first to walk over, grabbed his hand enthusiastically. “Mr. Qi, you said you wanted to show me your script yesterday. Where is it? Let me have a look!”
“I want to see it too!” another director chimed in, “You know my skills, one hit after another. Let me see!”
“Ha! Don’t kid yourself,” a third director joked, “You’re only able to make it big with all the marketing tricks. Your numbers are practically flooded by the Pacific Ocean, and you’re still showing them off? Mr. Qi, my numbers are solid, let me see your script!”
Qi Cheng stood frozen, watching as the people who had previously disregarded him were now almost about to fight over his script. What was going on?
It took him a while to understand, and when he did, he was stunned. That little girl had been right all along! Did that mean he really was going to make it big?
His heart pounded wildly, and his hand trembled as he held his phone.
After a long pause, he took a deep breath, calmed himself down, and said, “Let’s wait until everyone’s had a chance to look through the script before we make any decisions.”
Of course, he wanted his script to succeed, but he didn’t want it to just be because of that little girl’s words. He wanted the directors to genuinely like his story.
The others nodded, stopping their bickering. The director with the highest status among them thought for a moment and said, “True, let’s see the script first.”
Although Qi Cheng had struggled for so long, and even though fate had a hand in it, they still couldn’t overlook the fact that the little girl’s prediction might not be accurate.
Everyone was in agreement. They gathered around and began reading the script.
After reading, they exchanged glances, and their brows furrowed. The story itself was good, but it didn’t fit the current market trends. Was this script really going to make it big?
Meanwhile, Qin Bei, curious about the situation, asked, “Zhouzhou, do you really think this screenwriter can make it?”
Zhouzhou nodded, “Based on his face, it looks like he’ll succeed.”
When Zhouzhou said something, it had to be true.
“Well, if he wants me for the lead role, I’ll do it,” Qin Bei said.
Zhouzhou suddenly paused, turned to him, and shook her head. “Sixth Brother, from the way I see it, you won’t be the lead this time.”
Qin Bei was stunned. “Zhouzhou, do you think my acting skills aren’t good enough?”
“Honestly, they aren’t,” Zhouzhou said straightforwardly.
Her bluntness made Qin Bei’s face twist in frustration. Even though it was the truth, it still stung!
Seeing him so upset, Zhouzhou asked curiously, “Sixth Brother, why do you insist on being the lead? There’s more to a drama than just the main roles. If there’s no supporting cast, how can there be a main role?”
Well, that made sense, didn’t it?
Qin Bei thought for a moment and then sighed, “Alright, I’ll listen to you.”
At that moment, Grandpa Qin, who had been reading the newspaper nearby, overheard their conversation and shook his head. “Little Bei is just a fool.”
The only thing he was smart about was listening to Zhouzhou.
As Zhouzhou scribbled names on a piece of paper, tapping her pen on her head and furrowing her brows, she looked deep in thought. Grandpa Qin, curious, asked, “Zhouzhou, what are you doing?”
Zhouzhou handed him the paper. “Grandpa, I want to bring them in to help, but most of them are unwilling.”
She had contacted Senior Uncle Tang, who provided her with a list of people from the Mystery Sect. He could easily summon people from the Ninth Bureau, but others were not so easy to get in touch with. She had called each one, but many were unwilling to cooperate.

She sighed deeply, resting her head on the table. “Sigh, none of them are coming…”
Grandpa Qin immediately pulled her up, rubbed her forehead, and disapproved, “Don’t be so hard on yourself. Let me see.”
He took the paper from her and scanned it quickly. “Is there anyone in charge among them? Someone everyone listens to?”
Zhouzhou thought for a moment. “Yes!”
She quickly pointed to a name on the list. “Grandpa, Senior Uncle Tang said this person, Yin Hua, is very powerful. He’s known as the ‘Twin Dragon’ alongside Senior Uncle Tang in the Mystery Sect. He has strong influence there.”
“Then we’ll start with him,” Grandpa Qin said. “Take him down first, and then let him handle the others.”
“Zhouzhou, remember, you’re only one person. Don’t think you can do everything yourself. You need to learn how to lead a team. If you can’t do that, you’ll work yourself to death.”
Upon hearing this, Zhouzhou’s eyes lit up, and she looked at him with admiration. “Grandpa, you’re amazing!”
Brother Dafu said the same thing!
Grandpa Qin, pleased by her reaction, patted her head. “Go on, and if you need anything, come to Grandpa. Don’t overwork yourself.”
Zhouzhou nodded vigorously. “I know, I know! Thank you, Grandpa!”
She quickly grabbed her phone, dialed Yin Hua’s number, but when she finished explaining, the line went silent before the person on the other end simply said, “Not coming,” and hung up.
The person on the other end was clearly stubborn.
Zhouzhou clenched her fist. Perfect. She specialized in dealing with stubborn people!
She ended the call and didn’t bother trying again. After asking Tang Qing for Yin Hua’s address, she rushed out the door.
Qin Bei watched her leave and couldn’t help asking, “Grandpa, doesn’t it look like Zhouzhou’s going to fight someone? Aren’t you going to stop her?”
“Stop her for what?” Grandpa Qin said, flipping a page in his paper nonchalantly. “She won’t lose.”
Qin Bei, “…” Why didn’t he say this when I was fighting?
Seemingly sensing his thoughts, Grandpa Qin rolled his eyes in disdain.
Did he think he and Zhouzhou were the same?
Even though Grandpa Qin didn’t say it out loud, Qin Bei understood and could only lament his fate. Indeed, he was humiliating himself.
At that moment, at the Yin household, Yin Hua hung up the phone with a cold snort.
Yin Shuo, his grandson, noticed and asked curiously, “Grandpa, what’s wrong?”
Yin Hua frowned, annoyed. “A little girl, wanting to work with the police and found some organization, asking me to help? Ridiculous!”
Yin Shuo immediately understood his grandfather’s anger. Grandpa had always considered the people from the Mystery Sect special, looking down on ordinary folks. He would never cooperate with them.
Although Yin Shuo didn’t find them all that impressive, he didn’t say it aloud. Instead, he advised, “Grandpa, don’t be angry. Just ignore them. They won’t come to us.”
Yin Hua’s eyebrows furrowed even more. “If she dares to come to me, I’ll throw her out!”
