Chapter 200: Teammate’s Passing
The voices from the other side were not very loud, and they couldn’t hear them clearly, but they vaguely caught words like “mission” and “failed rescue.”
Even so, it was enough for Qin Lie to deduce what had happened. His expression immediately became solemn, and he held Zhouzhou tighter in his arms.
Ye Lingfeng’s expression also turned heavy. He turned around and walked briskly towards the exit. After a few steps, he suddenly turned back and looked at Zhouzhou, asking in a deep voice, “Zhouzhou, can you do me a favor?”
Zhouzhou didn’t understand, but seeing his serious expression, she instinctively nodded, “Sure.”
Qin Lie opened his mouth to say something, wanting to stop them, but in the end, he didn’t say anything, as if he had thought of something.
The group arrived at the hospital, and the atmosphere was heavy all the way. When they reached the entrance, Chen Tuo was already waiting for them. His expression was full of grief, and his complexion didn’t look good.
“Boss, Captain Qi,” he called out and immediately led them to a room.
Inside, there were several people. When they saw Ye Lingfeng, they saluted him, “Captain Ye, Captain Qi.”
They all looked haggard, and it was unclear where they had come from. They had various injuries of different sizes, but no one cared to attend to them. They all stood by a bed, silent and with red-rimmed eyes.
The atmosphere in the ward was suffocating.
Seeing this scene, Zhouzhou instinctively held her breath. With Qin Lie holding her, she was standing higher now and leaned over to take a look. She saw a person lying on the bed, covered from head to toe with a white cloth.
She instantly understood what had happened and turned her head to look at Ye Lingfeng.
His expression didn’t look good either, but he appeared much calmer. Sensing Zhouzhou’s gaze, he turned his head and said, “Zhouzhou, CEO Qin, could you please wait outside for a moment?”
“Okay,” Qin Lie didn’t object. He held Zhouzhou and walked to the entrance, deliberately walking further away to ensure they wouldn’t overhear their conversation.
Seeing this, Ye Lingfeng hesitated for a moment. He didn’t have time to thank them and quickly walked inside. He went forward and uncovered the white cloth, revealing a face that was completely destroyed. The whole body was charred black, and only the wolf head handcuffs on the side of the waist could prove his identity.
Ye Lingfeng closed his eyes for a moment, then opened them again, his expression returning to normal. He calmly asked, “What happened?”
One of the team members said, “Today we went on a mission to capture an international smuggling gang. There were too many people on the other side, and when we retreated, we were surrounded. Feng Ping… he attracted most of the firepower to protect us but…”
Choking up, he continued, “Feng Ping sacrificed himself while saving us.”
He couldn’t say any more after that. He turned his head away, unable to look at his face.
Feng Ping was the person lying on the bed, a member of the Wolf Team, only twenty-two years old, and the youngest member of their organization.
They used to tease him all the time, making him call them “big brothers.” But in this critical moment, it was this little brother who saved them.
It was their own uselessness.
Self-blame and grief surrounded them, almost overwhelming them.
Ye Lingfeng clenched his fist and asked, “What about the evidence of their smuggling? Did you retrieve it?”
“Yes, we got it. Feng Ping had it, but he didn’t have time to tell us where he put it.”
Ye Lingfeng nodded, “I see. You can leave now.”
“Captain Ye…” They looked at him guiltily, “We’re sorry. We failed to protect Feng Ping.”
They were all brought up by Ye Lingfeng. Within the organization, there were four teams: Dragon, Tiger, Lion, and Wolf. Although they were equal in rank, they instinctively regarded the Dragon Team, especially their leader Ye Lingfeng, as the strongest and almost godlike figure.
Hearing their words, Ye Lingfeng turned to look at them, his voice almost cold, “Guilt is the most useless thing in this world. Instead of wasting time on that, why don’t you go train harder? Only by becoming stronger can you protect the people you want to protect, instead of regretting and blaming yourself after losing them.”
He tightened his fist, “Do you understand?”

“We understand.” Their spirits were lifted, and they stood up straighter.
“Go outside and bring Zhouzhou here.”
The last sentence was directed at Qi Hua.
Qi Hua nodded, and his careless demeanor gone from his face
He had been arrogantly thinking that they had never suffered any casualties during missions, but he didn’t expect to have one so soon.
Taking a deep breath, trying to calm himself, he walked outside and invited Zhouzhou in. Before leaving, he made sure to close the door.
Qin Lie stood at the doorway, his gaze sweeping over them. He noticed that they were more bloodied than even Qin Xu, and his heart grew heavier.
His gaze fell on the door, as if he wished he had X-ray vision. What exactly was Ye Lingfeng doing?
Inside the room, Ye Lingfeng looked at Zhouzhou and spoke gently, “Zhouzhou, can you do me a favor?”
Zhouzhou nodded her little head, “Sharp Tongue Uncle, just tell me.”
“Could you please summon his soul back for me? I have some questions to ask him.”
“Okay.” Zhouzhou nodded and walked to the side of the bed. Without hesitation, she uncovered the white cloth, intending to collect a drop of his blood. However, when she saw the person inside, whose flesh had been charred and turned into carbon due to the explosion, she froze for a moment and instinctively looked up at Ye Lingfeng.
Ye Lingfeng remained composed, but the hand by his side clenched tighter and the joints made cracking sounds.
Zhouzhou shifted her gaze away and her chubby little face also turned serious. She carefully collected a drop of his blood and promptly covered him with the white cloth.
She took out a talisman and placed the blood within it, chanting something under her breath.
Not long after, a sudden gust of cold wind blew through the room, causing the window to move. In the next moment, Zhouzhou opened her eyes and looked at the additional spirit in the room. Her round eyes curiously glanced at him, and she raised her hand to toss a purification talisman, removing the stains from his body and revealing his true appearance.
He was a handsome young man with neatly cropped hair. When he saw Zhouzhou, he appeared somewhat surprised. Then his gaze shifted slightly, and he saw Ye Lingfeng. His face instantly lit up with excitement. “Captain Ye!”
Ye Lingfeng didn’t have the Eye of Heaven, so he couldn’t see him. But at the moment he opened his mouth, his gaze subconsciously fell on his location, and he asked, “Zhouzhou, is he here?”
“Mhmm.” Zhouzhou nodded and lit a stick of incense made from rhinoceros’ horn. Immediately, Ye Lingfeng saw a translucent figure.
It was Feng Ping.
His eyes flickered, and his hand slowly relaxed.
“You guys talk, Sharp Tongue Uncle. I’ll go out first.” Zhouzhou astutely walked out, closing the door behind her while tiptoeing and holding the doorknob. “You only have the time it takes for one incense stick to burn, otherwise, you’ll miss the auspicious moment for reincarnation.”
After speaking, she quickly ran outside, pulling Qin Lie’s hand and shutting the door.
Seeing Qin Lie waiting at the door, she threw herself into his arms. “Dad!”
Qin Lie held her, placing her on his lap, and touched her chubby little face, his expression somewhat complicated.
