Chapter 268: Summoned Parents
The bodyguard treated Zhouzhou like a little ancestor, but Zhouzhou herself remained unchanged. Her routine of attending classes in the morning, devouring twenty bowls of rice at lunch, and playing in the afternoon continued. The only difference was her occasional fretting over how to earn money, leading to a slightly bald appearance from all the stress.
During the afternoon activity time, Zhouzhou declined invitations to play from her friends. She sat on the steps, supporting her chubby cheeks with her hands, sighing occasionally. Qin Feng and Huo Ji’an sat beside her, while the bodyguard peeled sunflower seeds for her. Curious about her demeanor, he asked, “Zhouzhou, what’s wrong today? Are you unhappy?”
“Yeah, all my money is gone. I’m thinking about how to earn more.”
Earn money? That’s easy.
The bodyguard suggested, “Aren’t you good at healing? You can make money by treating people!”
Zhouzhou shook her head. “I’ve already done that. I give the medicine I make to Hanqiu to sell, and he gives me a share every month.”
Oh, that’s how it is.
The bodyguard thought for a moment but couldn’t come up with anything else. Zhouzhou was also at a loss. Drawing talismans was forbidden by her dad outside the home, and the income from medicine was stable. Her gaming company also paid her monthly, and she heard there would be dividends at the end of the year. She didn’t understand what dividends were, but as long as it meant more money, it was fine.
Her dad often gave her money, but that didn’t count. It wasn’t earned through her own effort, so it couldn’t be converted into the merit needed for her master. The merit she needed had to come from her own hard work. Her master required so much gold light that it would take several mountains of gold to restore him.
But how could she earn that much money?
Just as she was pondering, Qin Nan came running over, looking battered with a nosebleed flying in the wind.
Scanning the area quickly, he locked eyes on Zhouzhou and shouted, “Zhouzhou, help!”
Startled, Zhouzhou looked up and, seeing his state, asked, “Fifth Brother, what happened to you?”
Without another word, Qin Nan grabbed her and ran, shouting, “Sixth Brother is fighting with someone, and we can’t beat him. Come help us!”
What? A fight!
She wanted to see who dared to bully her brother!
Concerned, Qin Feng and the others hurriedly followed.
Zhouzhou ran swiftly, soon spotting a group of kids. Qin Bei and a chubby boy were wrestling on the ground. The chubby boy, strong enough to handle two kids, had Qin Bei pinned down and was punching him. Seeing this, Qin Nan’s eyes reddened with rage, and he raised his tiny fist, charging forward with a shout.
However, Zhouzhou was faster. She dashed forward, lifted the chubby boy with one hand, and raised him above her head. About to hurl him against the wall, Qin Feng arrived in time, exclaiming, “Zhouzhou, don’t throw him! You’ll have to pay for that!”
Money was Zhouzhou’s lifeline. Hearing this, she reluctantly wrinkled her nose and put the chubby boy back down, though she kept a tight grip on his collar. “Why did you hit my brother? Tell me, or I’ll beat you up!”
She waved her tiny fist menacingly, but the chubby boy, still terrified from being lifted, began to cry.
Qin Feng helped Qin Bei up and asked, “Sixth Brother, what happened?”
“He called my mom stupid!” Qin Bei pointed at the chubby boy angrily.
What?
He dared to insult Aunt? Zhouzhou, infuriated, kicked him.
She didn’t kick him into the wall, just sent him flying seven or eight or maybe nine meters. Not too hard; the chubby boy didn’t go airborne but skidded on the ground before collapsing, legs giving way as he sat down with a thud. A moment of blankness, then came the heart-wrenching wail.
“What’s going on?” The teacher hurried over and was stunned by the scene.
Qin Clan.
Qin Lie was in a meeting when he received a call from the kindergarten teacher. Raising an eyebrow, he said with an ambiguous tone, “Summoned parents?”
For some reason, his tone carried a hint of novelty.

The executives exchanged puzzled glances. What was there to be so proud about with a mere parent-teacher meeting? Whose kid hasn’t been called in before? Still, Qin Lie’s daughter being called to a meeting was surprising. Had she been bullied? Zhouzhou was known for her unusual strength and cunning, so it was hard to imagine her being bullied.
Despite not being too worried, Qin Lie stood up upon hearing about Zhouzhou fighting at school. “I’ll go immediately. Please, do not make any conclusions before I arrive,” he said, fearing Zhouzhou might be treated unfairly. Given the common bias that favors the weaker party, Zhouzhou could easily be seen as the wrongdoer.
The kindergarten teacher nodded repeatedly, assured by the principal’s presence. She glanced over to the scene and wondered who was really being wronged.
After ending the call, Qin Lie postponed the meeting and drove quickly to the kindergarten. He walked briskly to the office and stopped short upon entering.
Zhouzhou sat in a small chair, her chubby arms resting on the armrests. Qin Nan and Qin Bei massaged her shoulders on either side, while Huo Ji’an and Qin Feng were kneeling, massaging her legs. The bodyguard held a fruit platter, offering peeled and cut fruit pieces on a skewer to Zhouzhou, who merely had to open her mouth to eat. Her treatment was akin to that of an empress dowager.
In contrast, a chubby boy cowered in the corner, trembling with fear, his eyes full of terror. A similarly stout woman, her face full of anger, stood nearby, glaring at Zhouzhou and speaking harshly.
“You little brat, how dare you hit my son? I’ll beat you to death!” she shouted, rolling up her sleeves and swinging her large hand towards Zhouzhou’s face.
The bodyguard’s eyes flashed with anger, ready to act, but a hand swiftly caught the woman’s wrist first. With a slight exertion of force, a scream like that of a slaughtered pig filled the room.
A cold voice sounded in her ear, “Who do you think you’re going to hit?”
Zhouzhou’s eyes lit up upon seeing him and she jumped off the chair, happily hugging his leg, “Daddy!”
Qin Lie glanced at her, gently patting her head with one hand, then covered her eyes with his large palm. In the next moment, he extended his leg, sending the woman flying until she slammed into the wall, finally coming to a stop.
The woman crashed to the ground with a thud, causing the floor to tremble slightly. The teachers in the office shivered at the sight, feeling a mix of shock and satisfaction.
The chubby boy had often bullied other kids and showed little respect to the teachers. His mother was equally unreasonable, treating them like nannies and solving problems with money whenever her son caused trouble. Now, she had finally met her match.
After kicking the woman away, Qin Lie released Zhouzhou, sat down with her on his lap, and said authoritatively, “Alright, tell me what happened.”
Seeing him, Qin Nan and Qin Bei immediately started talking over each other, recounting the events in a rush.
“The chubby boy said that mom looked like an idiot on TV shows, only spending money and not knowing how to take care of kids. He said she’s useless.”
“He even insulted dad. He wasn’t wrong about that, but insulting mom is unacceptable!”
“That’s right!” Zhouzhou nodded vigorously, baring her little teeth and glaring fiercely at the chubby boy and his mother.
The three siblings showed no awareness of their blatant favoritism.
Just arriving at the door, Qin Yan felt as if a knife had been thrust into his chest.
What did they mean by saying it wasn’t wrong to insult him!
Doesn’t he have any feelings!
