Chapter 332: This Is Your New Dad!
Huo Mingxuan nearly tripped, catching himself just in time. Damn it, this son of his was beyond hope!
His expression grew even darker, prompting the bodyguard to quickly drag the two kidnappers along and follow him.
At that moment, Qin Xu arrived with his men, and looking at Huo Mingxuan, he said, “Mr. Huo, regarding your son’s kidnapping, we need you to come with us and give a statement.”
Huo Mingxuan’s face was frighteningly dark as he sneered, “I have no son. You can ask the person inside.”
Turning to his bodyguard, he commanded, “From today on, return to the old house. You don’t need to look after Huo Ji’an anymore.”
So, the boy didn’t want him as a father? Then he shouldn’t expect his money either! With that, he slammed the car door shut.
The bodyguard gave an apologetic nod to Qin Xu, then glanced at Huo Ji’an, sighing deeply. “Aren’t you coming?” Huo Mingxuan’s cold voice called from the car.
The bodyguard, having no choice, followed him into the car, feeling helpless as he looked at Huo Mingxuan’s icy expression. What a mess this all was.
The car quickly drove away.
Qin Xu raised an eyebrow, glancing inside the house, just in time to see a little girl rush out and throw herself into his arms. “Second Uncle!”
Qin Xu looked down at his excited niece, her small face flushed and bright eyes flickering between him and the two kidnappers on the ground.
Without her saying a word, he knew what she wanted to ask. Smiling, he said, “There will be a reward.”
“Wow!” Zhouzhou jumped up in delight, bouncing around him. “Thank you, Second Uncle!”
Qin Xu patted her little head with a smile.
Zhouzhou then ran back to Qin Lie’s side, her eyes gleaming with joy. Little money-grubber.
Qin Lie pinched her chubby cheeks. “Let’s go home.”
Today had been a close call.
He looked at Huo Ji’an, advising, “You need to be more careful in the future. Today you were lucky to run into a couple of dumb kidnappers. If they had been more experienced, it wouldn’t have ended so easily.”
The dumb kidnappers: “…” Oh, why did they ever get into this business! They had heard that the greater the risk, the greater the reward.
Yet, they hadn’t gained a cent and now were looking at years of free meals in prison. How unfortunate they were!
Huo Ji’an nodded at Qin Lie’s words, “Yes, I understand. Thank you, Uncle Qin.”
Qin Lie nodded slightly, then took the kids to the police station to give statements and claim Zhouzhou’s reward before leaving.
As they drove past a certain spot, Huo Ji’an suddenly asked, “Uncle Qin, can we stop here for a moment?”
Qin Lie looked over and saw a flower shop. Understanding his intentions, he slowly pulled over.
Zhouzhou, spotting the shop, jumped out of the car and ran inside. “This one’s pretty.” Zhouzhou immediately pointed to a bouquet of roses.
Huo Ji’an looked at it. The bright red flowers were indeed striking. He nodded and handed over a card. “Charge it.”
The shop assistant, surprised at his straightforwardness, took the card with a smile and swiped it, only to frown slightly. “Young man, your card is declined.”
“Why?” Huo Ji’an was puzzled.
The assistant shook her head. “I don’t know. It says your card is frozen.”
Huo Ji’an suddenly understood.

Zhouzhou also caught on. “It must be your old dad’s doing.”
Huo Ji’an nodded. “No one else could have done it.”
He had said he would freeze his card. A father who didn’t even give money was utterly useless.
Huo Ji’an rummaged through his bag, taking out several bills. “Is this enough?”
The shop assistant glanced at the cash and nodded, “Yes, that’s enough.”
After giving him change, she handed over the bouquet of ninety-nine roses. “Here you go, young man.”
The flowers were large and fragrant. Zhouzhou looked at them longingly, holding up two chubby fingers. “Miss, I want to buy…” She paused, then added another finger, “Three bouquets.”
One for dad, one for mom, and one for Sharp Tongue Uncle, so he wouldn’t feel left out.
She handed over her card, and this time the transaction went smoothly.
Having seen the others buy flowers, Qin Feng also bought a bouquet.
Soon, they walked out, each holding a bouquet of roses.
Qin Lie, sitting in the car, turned and saw three bouquets of roses walking towards him.
He stepped out and asked, “Why buy so many?”
“To give to my dad!” Zhouzhou handed him the bouquet. “If other dads get flowers, my dad should have some too!”
The flowers were so large, with Zhouzhou holding them up, Qin Lie couldn’t see her face, only her bright eyes. His heart softened at her words.
Qin Lie chuckled softly, taking the flowers.
Zhouzhou grinned widely, then turned and dashed back to the flower shop, calling, “Daddy, wait a moment, there are two more!”
Knowing who the other two bouquets were for, Qin Lie placed the flowers in the car and followed her inside, taking the remaining bouquets from her.
Zhouzhou skipped alongside him, hopping into the car. The vehicle was soon filled with the scent of roses.
“Are you hungry?” Qin Lie asked.
Zhouzhou nodded eagerly, “Yes, very hungry. Daddy, let’s go home quickly.”
Huo Ji’an, however, anxiously asked, “Can we eat out?”
He still hadn’t found his new dad.
Zhouzhou remembered this as well and nodded, counting on her chubby fingers. She only knew the general area.
She gave Qin Lie the coordinates, and he skillfully pulled out the Jing City map, pinpointing the location quickly.
It was Changping Street in the southern part of the city, an old district that wasn’t wealthy but had plenty of good food.
Qin Lie nodded, driving them there and finding a restaurant for them to eat in.
Zhouzhou ate heartily, finishing an extra bowl of rice since it was past her usual meal time. She nearly cleared all the vegetarian dishes.
Seeing Huo Ji’an distracted, Zhouzhou comforted him, saying, “The abbot said, if there is fate, you will meet across a thousand miles. Little Skinny Pole, you and your new dad are fated to meet today. Don’t worry.”
Hearing this, Huo Ji’an nodded, feeling a bit better but growing more impatient.
After the meal, he grabbed his bouquet and pulled Zhouzhou towards the crowded areas, asking about every man they saw.
Zhouzhou patiently answered each question, though her neck was getting sore from shaking her head.
“Chubby girl, is this my dad?” Huo Ji’an pointed to another man.
Zhouzhou glanced at him and shook her head, “No.”
Seeing him about to ask again, Zhouzhou quickly handed him a compass, “Here, Little Skinny Pole, think of your new dad and the compass will lead you to him.”
“Really?” Huo Ji’an asked excitedly.
Zhouzhou nodded, “Sincerity brings results.”
That’s what the book said. She didn’t know if it worked, having always used personal belongings to locate people.
To her surprise, the compass in Huo Ji’an’s hand began to move slowly.
“It really works!” Huo Ji’an exclaimed, hurrying in the direction the compass pointed.
Zhouzhou sighed in relief, rubbing her ears. Finally, some peace.
Qin Lie and Qin Feng followed, amused by her exasperation.
They followed the compass, noticing the dwindling crowd and fewer businesses until they came upon a man playing the cello.
He wore a mask and a hat, his eyes closed, brow furrowed in concentration. The deep, rich sound of the cello flowed from his slender fingers.
“How beautiful,” Qin Feng remarked.
Zhouzhou nodded, “But no one is singing. No wonder business is bad. I could sing and attract lots of people!”
She started to run over, but Qin Feng quickly pulled her back.
Seeing his enthusiastic cousin, Qin Feng worried about how to tell her the truth. If she sang, she might attract more than just people!
As Zhouzhou wondered why he stopped her, a gust of wind blew off the cellist’s hat, revealing his delicate features.
Zhouzhou froze, her eyes widening as she grabbed Huo Ji’an’s hand excitedly, “Little Skinny Pole, this is your new dad!”
