Chapter 358: You’re No Longer My Son
Outside the door, Huo Mingxuan’s face turned dark as he heard the exchange inside. His bodyguard glanced quickly, then lowered his head, not daring to look further.
The director was also stunned by the chilling atmosphere, his eyes wide with disbelief.
Ji’an was his son? Then who was Yu Ze, and why was Ji’an calling him Dad?
“Huo Ji’an,” Huo Mingxuan’s voice was cold. “Open the door, or you’ll no longer be my son.”
He threatened harshly.
Unexpectedly, Huo Ji’an’s eyes lit up. He ran to the door, pressing his small hands against it. “You said it! Whoever goes back on their word is a dog!”
He turned to Zhouzhou, waving urgently. “Chubby Girl, help me block the door. I’m never going out again.”
Zhouzhou nodded enthusiastically, her pigtails bouncing. She ran over without hesitation, helping him hold the door shut.
She looked at him and grinned, revealing her small, toothy smile. “Little Skinny Pole, don’t worry. I won’t let your former dad in. From now on, Uncle Yu is your only dad.”
Huo Ji’an nodded firmly. “Yes!”
Huo Mingxuan was so angry he almost laughed. So now he was the intruding third wheel in their father-son relationship?
He laughed, but his expression grew even colder. The bodyguard and director exchanged glances, both taking a step back to distance themselves from the icy atmosphere.
“Good job, Huo Ji’an.” His words were squeezed out between clenched teeth, brimming with barely restrained anger.
Sensing something was wrong, Yu Ze walked over, looking down at Huo Ji’an. “What’s going on?”
Huo Ji’an beamed at him. “Dad, are we going to be real father and son from now on? Aren’t you happy?”
Yu Ze’s eyes showed a hint of confusion. He had just heard someone outside talking about their son. Could it be that Ji’an’s biological father was here?
Huo Mingxuan also heard this and his face darkened further. “Huo Ji’an, if you don’t want your new dad to be blacklisted, unable to even afford the little shack you live in, then open the door.”
At these words, Huo Ji’an’s face scrunched up in frustration. “You’re going back on your word!”
Huo Mingxuan smirked and began counting down. “Three, two…”
The door remained firmly shut. His voice grew even colder.
Inside, Zhouzhou held the door with one chubby hand and patted Huo Ji’an’s shoulder with the other. “Don’t be scared. I’m here. He won’t get in.”
“Yeah!” Huo Ji’an felt reassured, remembering how capable Chubby Girl was. “If he comes in, throw him out!”
“Okay, I’ll throw him out.”
Their conversation only thickened the tense atmosphere. But the two kids seemed oblivious, Zhouzhou turning around and leaning against the door, giving Huo Ji’an a confident look.
Huo Ji’an smiled back, reassured by her plump, reliable figure.
But then Yu Ze spoke up, “Zhouzhou, Ji’an, open the door.”
Both kids looked up at him in unison, puzzled. “Why?” Zhouzhou asked.
Huo Ji’an clung to his leg, tears brimming in his eyes. “Dad, you don’t want me anymore?”
If they opened the door, wouldn’t they go back to being father and son? He didn’t want that. He was happy with his new dad.
Zhouzhou nodded earnestly, “We can’t open it.”

Yu Ze, being an adult, understood that their father-son bond wouldn’t truly end over not opening a door. He stroked Huo Ji’an’s head gently. “I just want to talk to him and clear things up.”
Huo Ji’an shook his head, holding on tighter, his eyes full of anxiety. Yu Ze’s voice softened. “Don’t worry. I promised. I’m your dad. That won’t change.”
Huo Ji’an’s expression relaxed a little, still unsure. “Really? You won’t send me back?”
“I promise,” Yu Ze assured him. “Unless you want to go back yourself, I won’t force you.”
Huo Ji’an stared at him, then Zhouzhou said, “I think it’s okay. Uncle Yu is more trustworthy than your former dad.”
“I think so too,” Huo Ji’an agreed, adding, “My former dad breaks his promises. He’s like a dog.”
Zhouzhou frowned. “Don’t insult dogs.”
Huo Ji’an quickly corrected himself, “Worse than a dog!”
“That’s better.” Zhouzhou stepped aside, standing by his side.
Yu Ze opened the door, and Huo Mingxuan’s face didn’t improve in the slightest. He had heard their conversation clearly. What a great son he had.
He glared coldly at Yu Ze, who met his gaze without flinching. There was no fear in his eyes, only calm resolve.
Yu Ze recognized him now—Huo Mingxuan, the second richest man after Qin Lie. He had known Huo Ji’an’s family was wealthy but hadn’t expected this.
His surprise quickly faded, and he calmly removed his mask. “Mr. Huo, let’s talk.”
“Fine.” Huo Mingxuan agreed coldly, turning to walk away.
Huo Ji’an quickly followed, afraid Yu Ze would be bullied. Seeing this made Huo Mingxuan even angrier.
Huo Ji’an didn’t care, telling Zhouzhou, “Chubby Girl, if my former dad tries to take me away, you have to get me back.”
“Got it.” Zhouzhou clenched her small fists and puffed out her little belly, “I’ll take care of it!”
“Yeah!”
Listening to their conversation, Huo Mingxuan quickened his pace.
The director watched them leave, wiping the sweat from his brow. This was too intense. But then he brightened up.
If the richest and second richest were investing in his show, that meant it was about to blow up, right? He hummed happily, returning to his seat to watch the show’s increasing popularity.
Meanwhile, Huo Mingxuan wasn’t as cheerful. They arrived at the house where the crew had first set up. The surrounding staff cleared out, leaving just the four of them. On the table were a few chipped bowls.
Zhouzhou and Huo Ji’an clinked their bowls together, yelling “Cheers!” and happily drank their water.
Huo Ji’an even offered Yu Ze a drink, showing a level of care Huo Mingxuan had never experienced.
He raised his eyes to Yu Ze, his gaze flicking over his scarred face with disdain. Yu Ze sat upright, meeting his gaze without a hint of fear.
Leaning back in his chair, Huo Mingxuan sneered, “Huo Ji’an has a bad temper, loves breaking things, needs to be coaxed to eat, and lies a lot. He’s full of tricks for his age. What did you see in him that made you want to be his dad?”
