Chapter 393: Jinbao’s Betrayal
As the car came to a halt, Jinbao suddenly darted towards the Ye household. It sniffed the air as it ran, as if sensing something. Zhouzhou quickly followed suit.
Ye Lingfeng had yet to return, and with no one at home, Zhouzhou easily unlocked the door with her fingerprint. Jinbao stood at the entrance, seemingly wanting to enter but unable to due to the closed door. It mewed anxiously “meowing” in frustration.
Zhouzhou approached and opened the door for it. Jinbao promptly darted inside, its paws reaching for the drawer on Ye Lingfeng’s bedside table.
It aimed to grab the box inside, but Zhouzhou quickly intervened, her face stern as she said, “No, you can’t.”
“This is Mommy’s bracelet for Daddy. You mustn’t touch it.”
Whether Jinbao understood or not, it let out a soft “meow” and glanced at the box, then at the golden ingot on Zhouzhou’s head. Its eyes glistened with longing.
Zhouzhou picked it up and placed several talismans over the box, ensuring it wouldn’t be discovered.
She let out a relieved breath and scratched Jinbao’s fluffy chin, pondering. “Did the Brother Fox send you to retrieve the bracelet?”
Jinbao’s eyes closing contentedly as it “meowed” in response. Zhouzhou took this as an affirmation.
But why did the Brother Fox want Mommy’s bracelet? Did he want to wear it?
Zhouzhou tilted her head, imagining the scenario, her face scrunching up in confusion. She had never expected the Brother Fox to be like this.
One could never truly know a person’s intentions!
Unaware of Zhouzhou’s thoughts, Jinbao mewed impatiently, its gaze fixed on the Jinbao on Zhouzhou’s head.
Zhouzhou kept her promise, reluctantly scraping a bit off the top and offering it to Jinbao’s eager paws.
Jinbao didn’t mind the small amount, greedily consuming it and rolling around in satisfaction.
Zhouzhou giggled and carried it back to the Qin household, ensuring to lock the door behind her. She wondered when Ye Lingfeng would return.
Upon reaching the Qin house, she ran to Qin Lie and whispered in his ear, “Daddy, I have to tell you something. The Brother Fox wants Mommy’s bracelet that she left for sharp tongue daddy.”
Her expression was somewhat complicated as she spoke. Why didn’t he just ask? Bracelets were not hard to get.
However, Qin Lie sensed that there was more to this than meets the eye. If Luo Jin truly wanted a bracelet, he could easily afford it. But he didn’t seem to intend to wear it himself.
Moreover, the bracelet was nothing special, save for its significance to Zhouzhou and Ye Lingfeng.
What was his true intention?
Qin Lie tapped his fingers on his knee, his gaze fixed on Zhouzhou, his brows furrowed.
Whatever his reason, if he intended to target Ye Lingfeng, he should do so openly and not involve Zhouzhou. Otherwise, Qin Lie would spare no effort to stop him!
A flash of severity passed through his eyes, and Jinbao, sensing something, glanced back at him, mewing softly and nestling deeper into Zhouzhou’s arms.
At that moment, a white figure appeared at the door. Wangcai, having just returned from a wild adventure outside, spotted Zhouzhou and ran towards her with wagging tail.
However, upon seeing the black furball in her arms, it abruptly stopped and quickly turned away, its expression filled with confusion and terror.
How could this creature be here!
Help!
But Jinbao had already spotted Wangcai, its eyes lighting up.
With a leap from Zhouzhou’s arms, it quickly darted towards Wangcai, jumping onto its head and affectionately rubbing against it.

However, Wangcai seemed annoyed, huffing impatiently and attempting to swipe Jinbao off with its paw.
But Jinbao was agile, dodging its attempts several times and remaining stubbornly attached to Wangcai’s side.
Zhouzhou also watched the scene with curiosity, “Huh, do Wangcai and Jinbao know each other?”
Qin Lie observed the scene with narrowed eyes.
However, it was strange. Wasn’t it said that Ye Lingfeng and Luo Jin didn’t get along? But their pets seemed quite close.
Not only Qin Lie, even Wangcai was feeling frustrated.
Why was it always sticking to him?
No matter how hard it tried to shake it off, the clingy creature refused to let go, leaving Wangcai with a scowling tiger face as it approached Zhouzhou.
With an “Awoo,” it looked at her with a plaintive gaze, complaining to her.
Yet Zhouzhou failed to grasp its sentiment, extending her small, plump paw to stroke its large head with a smile, “Wangcai, be good. This is Jinbao. You’ll be good friends from now on.”
Jinbao joyfully jumped up, embracing Zhaozhao in another affectionate hug.
Wangcai’s face darkened, slumping to the ground with a distorted tiger’s body, filled with resistance.
Unfortunately, Jinbao was oblivious, joyfully rolling around, imitating Wangcai’s movements.
As soon as Wangcai tried to escape, Jinbao immediately jumped onto its head.
Wangcai thought, “Master, please get rid of it!”
As one tiger and one cat chased each other relentlessly, the fleeing one found it impossible to escape.
Zhouzhou watched the scene with a silly smile, happily clapping her small, plump paws.
“If Brother Fox and sharp tongue Dad had such a good relationship, it would be great.”
Then she could play with Brother Fox too.
Even though he looked like a fox, he was truly handsome.
Upon hearing this, Qin Lie remained silent, stroking Zhouzhou’s small head.
Late at night, the house was still and quiet.
The light in the study was still on, and Qin Lie’s fingers hovered over the phone contacts, hesitating whether to call Ye Lingfeng about this matter.
He had a hunch that Luo Jin had come for Zhouzhou.
Since his intentions were unclear, it was best to be cautious.
Unfortunately, when he dialed the number, a cold machine voice responded.
“Hello, the number you dialed is powered off…”
Powered off?
Qin Lie furrowed his brows, remembering Ye Lingfeng’s words that if his phone was off, it meant he was on a mission.
Since Luo Jin was his colleague, had he chosen this moment to arrive?
His fingers tapped lightly on the desk, unaware that a black cat gracefully landed on the ground and soon disappeared.
In the middle of the night, a dimly lit room was disturbed by some movements in the living room.
Luo Jin sat at the desk, saying calmly, “You finally know to come back?”
However, he didn’t hear Jinbao enter.
His brows furrowed slightly as he stepped out, only to see a black figure leaping out the window and quickly disappearing into the night.
He felt slightly perplexed and walked to the study. After a quick glance, he noticed something missing and his face darkened, instantly throwing the cup in his hand.
That little black traitor had betrayed him again.
Damn it!
Jinbao ignored his thoughts, carrying “Thirty-Six Stratagems to Deal with Ye Lingfeng” in its mouth. It quickly ran to Zhouzhou’s bedroom, placing it affectionately beside her and then jumped onto her head, closing its eyes next to Jinbao.
So fragrant.
Who was that little black one? It was Baby!
And there was the comforting golden light. Who would choose otherwise?
The next day, Zhouzhou opened her eyes, moving her small, plump paw. Suddenly, she noticed something on her hand.
She picked it up confused and looked at it, her eyes instantly opening wide. This was…
