Chapter 430: Finding You a Helper
As Ye Lingfeng gazed upon Zhouzhou’s petite face, he finally relaxed a bit. With admiration, he gently pinched her chubby cheeks and remarked, “No room for pride when on a mission.”
After a moment’s thought, he added, “But you may indulge in it at other times.”
“Nonsense,” Zhouzhou retorted seriously, her face stern. “Who said I was proud? I’m very modest! Honest people aren’t proud.”
Ye Lingfeng nearly laughed. “Alright, honest person.” Holding her hand, he looked towards the island, his gaze growing serious again.
“Let’s go. Remember our plan, and don’t wander off.”
Zhouzhou nodded silently, gesturing back at him with a hand sign she had just been taught by Ye Lingfeng on the plane, meant for tactical communication.
Smiling, Ye Lingfeng nodded and led her forward.
The father and daughter, cloaked in invisibility spells, strolled boldly, unaffected even if they encountered pirates, calmly passing by without a fuss, unnoticed by anyone.
Observing the marked locations on the map, Ye Lingfeng pondered.
This area was where fishermen and researchers were most likely to be found, but which one exactly remained uncertain.
Lost in thought, he noticed Zhouzhou holding a compass, her chubby fingers calculating.
Arching his brow, he realized he had almost forgotten about his little daughter’s presence.
Before long, Zhouzhou pointed to a spot on the map.
Understanding her signal, Ye Lingfeng immediately led her in that direction.
Sure enough, they soon arrived at their destination, where several pirates stood guard at the entrance, vigilant.
Ye Lingfeng glanced at them, then at Zhouzhou, gesturing for her to stay put.
After making the gesture, he swiftly dashed out.
Observing him, Zhouzhou blinked, watching as he effortlessly subdued the guards with a mere blink of an eye, her eyes sparkling with admiration—her daddy was so cool!
After tossing the pirates into the bushes, Ye Lingfeng waved to Zhouzhou.
She immediately trotted over with her short legs.
Together, they slipped through the window.
Inside, contrary to the exterior, there wasn’t a soul in sight, yet it felt as though there were many.
Observing the infrared beams ahead, Ye Lingfeng smirked; indeed, the equipment here was sophisticated.
These infrared beams were highly lethal; upon contact, they would instantly shred anything into pieces.
For ordinary people, passing through here was difficult.
But fortunately, Ye Lingfeng had been playing these tricks on the island every day as part of their training.
Holding Zhouzhou, Ye Lingfeng effortlessly navigated through, also reaching a door.
Before them stood a keypad lock, a testament to the pirates’ caution—any wrong attempt might trigger an alarm.
Ye Lingfeng took out his tools, about to crack the lock when Zhouzhou calmly pulled out a talisman from her bag and pasted it, then casually walked towards the door with her short legs.
To everyone’s surprise, she didn’t bump into anything but simply passed through the wall!

As she crossed, she remembered something and hurriedly came back out; her dad was still outside!
She quickly handed him another Pass-Through Wall Talisman, then noticed the tools in his hand, puzzled. “Daddy, what are you doing?”
Watching his daughter’s head poking through the door, Ye Lingfeng’s brow twitched.
This was the simplest and most absurd mission he had encountered since starting out, a direction even he found hard to keep up with.
What kind of sorcery was this? When science falls short, resort to the mystical?
But he had to admit, her method was indeed effective.
Taking a deep breath, Ye Lingfeng pinched the talisman, following her lead.
It was miraculous; what once seemed impenetrable now only posed a slight hindrance, easily pierced through, even easier than cutting through plastic.
How was this possible?
He pondered, but now wasn’t the time to delve into it.
Upon entering, he immediately surveyed his surroundings.
There were no more doors inside; it was spacious, filled with instruments.
Sitting in front of a computer was a man, bearing an uncanny resemblance to the one in the photo Zhao Xinghua had provided—the abducted researcher, Zhang Meng.
Watching his movements, Ye Lingfeng narrowed his eyes, approached, and scrutinized the screen for a moment. Only then did his expression ease a bit.
“Uncle, what are you doing?” Zhouzhou’s little head leaned over, standing on tiptoe, curious.
Startled by the childish voice suddenly ringing in his ear, Zhang Meng tensed. “Who’s there?”
Only then did Zhouzhou realize she was still under the invisibility talisman. Hastily removing it, she looked up at him and smiled, “It’s me.”
A child suddenly appearing in front of him nearly made Zhang Meng cry out, but before he could utter a sound, a large hand covered his mouth, and he stared in shock, his eyes wide open.
What the hell!
Ye Lingfeng removed the invisibility talisman, speaking in a low voice. “Shut up, don’t make a noise. We’re here to rescue you.”
Upon hearing this, Zhang Meng’s heart finally moved. He vigorously nodded and gestured to loosen the hand covering his mouth.
Ye Lingfeng didn’t hesitate, quickly letting go.
Zhang Meng took a deep breath, his neck stiffly turning to face Ye Lingfeng, his eyes wide with astonishment.
This time he didn’t need to do anything; he was already holding his mouth shut, staring in shock at the big and small figures in front of him.
Zhouzhou patted his leg. “Uncle, don’t be afraid, we’re the good guys.”
Looking at her, Zhang Meng slowly regained his composure.
Zhouzhou repeated curiously, “Uncle, what are you doing?”
She looked at the symbols on his screen, all of which were illegible, just like an illiterate person’s nemesis.
Zhang Meng looked at them, although he didn’t know their identities, he subconsciously felt that they were not bad people.
He looked at Ye Lingfeng’s combat uniform and felt a lot more at ease, and had no doubt about his words.
He replied, “It’s a research project. The pirates are also trying to crack it. I pretended to surrender and told them I could help decrypt it. I tricked them into giving me their data, and now I’m studying it.”
This had been a persistent problem for them to crack. These pirates seemed to have an unusual background, possessing even more information than they did. Since he was already there, he figured he might as well gain some benefit. He knew that the pirates might be aware of his intentions but didn’t care. They were probably waiting to kill him the moment he succeeded in cracking the data.
However, he had a plan. If he cracked the data and their people hadn’t arrived yet, he would destroy the information, ensuring it wouldn’t fall into the pirates’ hands. But if someone did arrive, he would gain a set of valuable data for free. Why pass up such an opportunity?
“You’ve got quite the guts,” Ye Lingfeng remarked, glancing at his innocent face with a hint of sarcasm. “Daring to trick pirates. Aren’t you afraid they’ll shoot you?”
Zhang Meng’s face reddened at his words, and he muttered, “Well, you’re here now.”
He was a research fanatic and didn’t want to miss this opportunity. Zhouzhou, understanding his determination, patted his leg and said, “Uncle is amazing.”
Ye Lingfeng didn’t comment further and just said, “Let’s go.” Pirates could show up at any moment.
However, Zhang Meng shook his head. “This data can’t be copied. The computer has a self-destruct mechanism. If we leave this room, it will automatically explode, and everything will be lost.”
“You should go. I need to crack this data first.”
Stubborn as a mule. Ye Lingfeng found such obstinacy frustrating. His face showed a flash of impatience, but at that moment, Zhao Xinghua sent him a message. After reading it, Ye Lingfeng frowned. This data was actually that important?
He checked the time. The patrol shift change was imminent. If the pirates outside discovered them, they wouldn’t be able to leave.
Pressing his lips together, he said, “I’ll give you ten minutes. After ten minutes, we must leave.”
Seeing Ye Lingfeng’s firm and uncompromising gaze, Zhang Meng opened his mouth to argue but then quickly looked away and resumed his work, frowning deeply. Ten minutes was simply not enough.
Zhouzhou, naturally curious, climbed onto his lap and looked at his computer screen. She had a feeling that the content seemed somewhat familiar. Tilting her little head up at Zhang Meng, she asked, “Uncle, can I find you a helper?”
Zhang Meng didn’t take her seriously, not even sparing her a glance. “What kind of helper could you have?”
This was something their team hadn’t been able to solve in a year. How could she, at her age, provide any useful help? Her helper might not even be out of kindergarten yet.
Noticing his disbelief, Zhouzhou pouted unhappily but didn’t argue. She simply tapped her smart watch with her chubby fingers. When the other end connected, she held the watch up to Zhang Meng’s face and asked, “How about this one?”
Zhang Meng glanced casually, but then his eyes widened in shock. The next second, he stared, excitedly exclaiming, “It’s you?!”
