Chapter 605: A Warning to Switch Sides
Zhouzhou glared at him angrily and threatened, “Uncle Zhao, if you keep this up, I’ll go with my uncle.”
She couldn’t stop him, but she could certainly avoid him!
Zhao Xinghua, terrified by her words, immediately sobered up. He coughed lightly and said seriously, “Oh, I didn’t mean that. I meant if you like it, I’ll get you more.”
Zhouzhou crossed her chubby arms and huffed, turning her head away. She was truly angry now! No amount of milk bowls could appease her!
Ye Lingfeng also cast a sinister look at Zhao Xinghua, sneering, “You’re quite the smooth talker, aren’t you?”
Zhao Xinghua, feeling guilty, rubbed his nose and sidled up to Zhouzhou with a fawning smile, “Zhouzhou, don’t be mad. I was just joking with you. You’re magnanimous, please don’t be angry.”
Without turning her head, Zhouzhou retorted righteously, “I am not magnanimous!”
“Puf!” Zhao Xinghua couldn’t help but laugh, but when Zhouzhou shot him a resentful look, he quickly stifled it. He pulled out a bank card and handed it to Zhouzhou.
Seeing her puzzled expression, he explained, “As promised, if you refused the people trying to poach you, I’d give you 300,000 yuan. You refused twice, so that’s 600,000 yuan. Plus, you brought Xi Mo over, so I’ll add another 100,000, making it 700,000 in total. Here, it’s all yours.”
Upon hearing this, Zhouzhou instantly forgot her anger and eagerly took the card, exclaiming, “Wow, Uncle Zhao, you’re the best!”
True to her little miser nature, she immediately changed her tune upon seeing money.
Zhao Xinghua found it amusing but quickly averted his gaze, remembering her incident of sneaking milk bowls. Fearing he might upset her again, he hurriedly found an excuse to leave.
Holding the bank card, Zhouzhou smiled so broadly her eyes became slits. She proudly handed the card to Ye Lingfeng, patting her chest, “Daddy, whatever you want, just say it. I’ll treat you!”
Hearing this, Ye Lingfeng pinched her chubby cheeks and smiled, “Alright, I’ll think about what I want.”
“Uh-huh!” Zhouzhou nodded vigorously, not stingy at all in front of him.
After dinner, Zhouzhou went to find Xi Mo, waving her bank card in front of him, her little tail practically wagging.
“Uncle, is there anything you want? Here’s your 100,000 yuan from selling yourself, and my 600,000 yuan from being sold. All for you to spend.”
Xi Mo was speechless, looking at the delighted little girl. She was indeed a miser, even willing to sell herself for money.
He suddenly realized why Commander hadn’t managed to poach Zhouzhou. He hadn’t mentioned money.
If he had added a zero back then, Zhouzhou would have packed herself up and gone over. Zhao Xinghua wouldn’t have had a chance to boast.
Amused by the thought, he returned the card to Zhouzhou, placing it back in her small bag. “You keep it. Uncle has money and can buy whatever he wants.”
“That’s not okay.” Zhouzhou pouted, “I promised to take care of you.”
Proudly patting her chest, she declared, “I always keep my word!”
Hearing this, Xi Mo thought for a moment and said, “Then give me a candy.”
Zhouzhou’s mouth dropped open in surprise, “Uncle, you like candy too?” She reached into her bag and pulled out three candies, handing them to him, “All for you, Uncle, eat up.”
She was about to change her teeth, and Grandma Qin had forbidden her from eating too much candy, reminding her father before leaving.
Ye Lingfeng only allowed her three candies a week, and she had saved them up, not eating them.
She hadn’t expected her uncle to like candy too. As they say, nieces take after their uncles, and she was very much like him.
Xi Mo smiled but didn’t explain. He only took one candy, “One is enough, you should keep the rest.”
He wasn’t interested in candy, just thought the little girl was as sweet as candy and wanted to keep it with him to remember her.

Zhouzhou, unaware of his thoughts, stuffed another candy into his pocket and peeled one for herself, sitting next to him on a nearby stone.
Her short legs dangled happily, and she clinked her candy against his, “Cheers, Uncle, let’s eat together.”
“Alright.” Xi Mo, unable to refuse, sat with the childish little girl, enjoying the candy. The sweetness spread in his mouth, warming his heart. He looked down at the little girl, his eyes full of warmth.
Zhouzhou ate her candy happily, her eyes squinting with joy. She tilted her head and asked, “Uncle, is it good?”
“Delicious.”
“Next time Daddy gives me more candy, I’ll bring it for you. We’ll eat together.”
“Okay.” Xi Mo readily agreed, enjoying the little girl’s affection.
Zhouzhou, too, swayed her short legs happily, snuggling closer to him. After finishing their candy, they got up to start training.
Xi Mo, naturally, held nothing back, teaching her everything he knew. Zhouzhou learned diligently.
After training with Xi Mo, she would run off to find others to spar with, testing her new moves.
In a few days, whenever anyone from the Fourth Bureau saw Zhouzhou, they would immediately flee. Their knees couldn’t take it anymore!
Though Zhouzhou was good-hearted and always treated their injuries after a fight, no knees could endure such frequent beatings.
They wished she would grow taller quickly and target other areas. Zhouzhou, oblivious to their thoughts, happily ran to the training grounds.
“I’m here!” Zhouzhou’s voice rang out as she joyfully skipped into the training ground, scaring everyone into tightening their knees.
With a shared glance, they all decided on one thing—run! By the time Zhouzhou entered, the once bustling training ground was empty, the windows still swaying.
She ran to the window and watched them hastily retreating, pouting, “Why won’t anyone play with me?”
Disappointed, she ran to Lu Ye, hugging his leg, “Brother, will you spar with me?”
Lu Ye glanced at her and shook his head, “No.” He thought he was quite combative, but this little girl outdid him. Apart from eating, she spent her days fighting, and even ate to have the strength to fight.
He heard she went hunting with Wangcai recently, and now the forest animals fled faster from her than from Wangcai. Even the dogs on the island avoided her.
“Sigh.” Zhouzhou’s head drooped, resting weakly on his leg, mumbling, “No one wants to play with me. I’m still a baby. Why do they all dislike me?”
“Well, they don’t love me anymore.”
“I knew it. All that talk of liking me was false. Never trust men’s words!”
Lu Ye: “…”
