Chapter 679: Business Faltered
Zhouzhou looked at them blankly. The head teacher, feeling a bit troubled, pinched her brow and asked, “Caicai, did you sell milk to Pan Bin yesterday?”
Zhouzhou recalled and nodded, puzzled, “Yes, why?”
Her milk had not expired. Brother Dafu always said that earning money was important, but one must have a conscience, especially with food; one must never sell spoiled goods.
Mrs. Pan, however, was furious. “He’s allergic to milk and broke out in a rash. He’s in the hospital now, receiving an IV!”
“You wicked child!”
In her anger, Mrs. Pan spoke harshly and looked at Zhouzhou with disdain. Zhouzhou, never having encountered such a situation, stood frozen.
Qin Feng, Qin Nan, and Qin Bei immediately stepped forward to shield Zhouzhou. Huo Ji’an also held Zhouzhou, staring intently at Mrs. Pan, ready to prevent any physical altercation.
The teacher quickly intervened, “Please calm down. Caicai didn’t know. This is a misunderstanding.”
“A misunderstanding?” Mrs. Pan fumed, glancing at the snacks on the table. “Is it even legal for her to sell snacks at school? Is she here to study or work?”
The teacher, now at a loss, looked at Zhouzhou, feeling the headache grow. Zhouzhou was indeed at fault here.
“Caicai, call your parents and have them come over.”
“Alright.” Zhouzhou slowly came to her senses, bit her lip, and called Qin Lie.
Qin Lie, in the middle of a morning meeting, initially smiled at his daughter’s call, but his face quickly darkened as he listened. He stood up and strode out. “I’ll be there soon. Don’t be afraid.”
“Okay.” Zhouzhou nodded sullenly, her head hanging low, her pigtails drooping lifelessly.
She hadn’t expected things to turn out this way. Worried, she looked up at Mrs. Pan and asked, “Auntie, how is Pan Bin? Is he alright? I can help; can I go see him?”
Mrs. Pan glanced at her, still displeased.
“You’re just a little kid, what do you know about healing? All you’re doing is causing trouble!”
Hearing this, Zhouzhou’s shoulders slumped, and her usual bright demeanor dimmed. Her fortune pigtails–normally full of energy–also drooped lifelessly, making her look utterly defeated.
When Qin Lie arrived, this was the scene that greeted him. Seeing his little girl standing there, head hung low and clearly discouraged, his heart ached immediately. He strode over, gently patting her on the head.
Feeling the warmth of his touch, Zhouzhou looked up, her eyes lighting up as she exclaimed, “Daddy!”
She instinctively started to open her arms to hug him, but then seemed to remember something, and her smile faltered. Slowly, the joy drained from her face, and she stood there, looking a bit lost.
“I’m sorry, Daddy. I messed up,” she muttered, her voice filled with guilt.
Qin Lie crouched down and scooped her up into his arms. “It’s alright, I’ll handle it,” he reassured her.
Then, he turned to Mrs. Pan, his smile fading but his tone remaining calm. “I apologize, we were in the wrong here. Your child’s health is what’s most important. How about we head to the hospital? I’ve already contacted Divine Doctor Liu, and he’s agreed to take a look at your child.”
The mention of Divine Doctor Liu made Mrs. Pan’s demeanor change instantly. “You mean Liu Hanqiu?” she asked, her surprise giving way to delight. Everyone in the country knew of his reputation as a miracle healer.
Qin Lie nodded.
Overjoyed, Mrs. Pan quickly agreed, “Then let’s go.”
Even the class teacher was taken aback. She had expected Qin Lie to be more aggressive–after all, his temperament was famous, especially when it came to protecting Zhouzhou. She’d thought he would react harshly in defense of his daughter.
But clearly, she had underestimated him. While Qin Lie adored his daughter, he wasn’t unreasonable.
The group arrived at the hospital, and upon seeing the fruit baskets by the entrance, Zhouzhou said, “Daddy, let’s buy some fruit to bring to Pan Bin.”

Then, as if remembering something, she looked expectantly at Mrs. Pan and asked, “Auntie, can Pan Bin eat fruit?”
The little girl was so cute, and with her hopeful eyes fixed on her, Mrs. Pan’s heart softened a bit, and she nodded.
Zhouzhou grinned at her, then ran off to buy the largest fruit basket she could find. Her chubby little hands carried it, and even when Qin Lie offered to help, she refused.
She felt it was her responsibility to make amends for her mistake.
Seeing her determination, Qin Lie didn’t push the matter further.
Zhouzhou carried the basket and walked straight to the infusion room where Pan Bin was, not even needing to ask for directions. Beside Pan Bin sat a man who looked very much like him–likely his father.
Zhouzhou dashed over. “Pan Bin, Pan Bin, how are you?”
Hearing the commotion, Pan Bin looked up, and upon seeing Zhouzhou, a smile immediately spread across his face.
Zhouzhou was not only adorable but also had a sweet temperament. She was the youngest in the class, and everyone liked her.
“I’m fine! Why are you here?”
“I heard you were sick, so I came to check on you,” Zhouzhou said, placing the fruit basket beside him. “Sorry, I didn’t know you couldn’t drink milk, and I sold it to you.”
Pan Bin quickly shook his head. “It’s not your fault, not at all! You didn’t force me to buy it–I wanted it myself!”
Pan Bin was easygoing. He glanced at his mom, then back at Zhouzhou, and asked curiously, “Mom, you didn’t go to the hospital to cause trouble for Zhouzhou, did you?”
There was a hint of reproach in his tone.
Mrs. Pan, feeling exasperated, walked over and said, “I did this for you!”
Pan Bin, however, wasn’t too pleased. “Why are you blaming Zhouzhou? I’m fine! It’s just an allergy, it’s happened before.”
He seemed unconcerned, feeling his mom was overreacting.
Zhouzhou, however, shook her head and said, “Pan Bin, don’t talk to your mom like that. She’s just worried about you.”
Exactly! Mrs. Pan nodded in agreement, her expression softening considerably as she looked at Zhouzhou. “I’m sorry, little girl. I didn’t mean to scare you.”
Zhouzhou shook her head.
“It definitely scared her,” Pan Bin mumbled, pulling Zhouzhou aside to chat with her.
Zhouzhou soon started giggling at his jokes.
Seeing the two kids getting along so well, Mrs. Pan didn’t have much else to say.
Pan Bin’s father, a slightly chubby man with a kind face, glanced curiously at Qin Lie.
Qin Lie returned his gaze and gave a slight nod, saying, “Sorry, we’ll cover the medical expenses.”
“No, no need!” Mr. Pan waved his hands quickly. “It’s just an allergy, nothing serious. Little Bin was being greedy. I checked the milk–it’s a good brand, fresh too. There was nothing wrong with it, it’s just that he’s allergic.”
He chuckled, but Qin Lie insisted. His tone was gentle, but the authoritative air about him left no room for argument.
Left with no choice, Mr. and Mrs. Pan fell silent.
Not long after, Liu Hanqiu arrived. Spotting Zhouzhou, his eyes lit up, and he quickly walked over. “Master, what brings you here?”
Mr. and Mrs. Pan, puzzled by who he was referring to, watched as Zhouzhou replied, “I came to see a classmate.”
The two parents stood frozen in place, staring in disbelief.
What?
This little girl is Dr. Liu’s master?!
