Chapter 714: Leaving Once Again
Huo Ji’an was greatly disheartened, appearing somewhat wilted when school ended. Clutching his books tightly, he made a secret resolve.
From that day onward, he decided to dedicate two hours every day to study after returning home, determined to surpass Chubby Girl!
Little did he know, Zhouzhou’s progress had already reached the level of fourth grade. Moreover, every time Qin Ren assigned her tasks, she completed them all correctly.
It had to be admitted, Zhouzhou’s intellect was naturally suited for Qin Dafu’s tutelage; the scholarship seemed tailor-made for her.
Unaware of his determination, Zhouzhou dashed towards Ye Lingfeng with excitement. However, upon seeing the equipment on the passenger seat, her expression froze.
“Daddy, are you leaving again?” she asked.
Ye Lingfeng nodded. “I have to go on a mission.”
Hearing this, Zhouzhou’s little head drooped immediately. He had only been back for a few days.
She looked at him with teary eyes, her lips trembling with sadness. But she was afraid that if she showed too much emotion, she might distract him during his mission, which could be dangerous. So, she swallowed the sobs that were about to escape her mouth, lowered her head, and took deep breaths, trying to calm herself.
Ye Lingfeng saw this and felt a deep ache in his heart. He turned and gently patted his chubby daughter’s head. “Don’t be sad. Daddy will come back after the mission.”
“When will that be?” Zhouzhou looked up at him with her big, expectant eyes.
Ye Lingfeng remained silent, unable to provide an exact time. This mission was somewhat challenging, and he didn’t know when he would return.
“I’ll be back as soon as possible,” he reassured her, stroking her hair.
Zhouzhou’s eyes welled up with tears. Before they could fall, she quickly buried her face in his arms, thinking that her dad wouldn’t see her cry like this. Unbeknownst to her, her tears soaked through his clothes, reaching his heart directly.
Feeling her tears, Ye Lingfeng’s heart clenched. He gently pinched his daughter’s chubby cheeks and said cheerfully, “Why cry? Daddy will be back soon. Dealing with those minions is just child’s play for me. When I return, I’ll ask Director Zhao for another mountain of gold.”
However, Zhouzhou couldn’t muster a smile this time. She didn’t want a mountain of gold; she just wanted her dad.
Yet, she understood that now was not the time for tantrums. Reluctantly, she raised her head, forcing a smile, and said, “Yes, Daddy is the most formidable.”
Ye Lingfeng raised an eyebrow, “More formidable than Qin Lie?”
Here we go again, Zhouzhou thought. Nevertheless, she reassured him, “Yes, Daddy is the most formidable.”
She may be a scumbag girl, but these words came straight from her heart.
Ye Lingfeng didn’t care whether they were true or not; he chose to believe them.
“Such a discerning daughter I have!” he exclaimed, giving her a kiss before letting her go. “Buckle up.”
Zhouzhou nodded obediently, seating herself properly. “Daddy, when are you leaving?”
“I’ll drop you off first, then leave after dinner,” he replied.
That meant they still had two hours together.
Excitedly, Zhouzhou counted on her fingers, then smiled happily.
As soon as Zhouzhou got home, she rushed to her room, crawled under her bed, and pulled out all the money she had hidden there, handing it to the Ancestral Master.
“Ancestral Master, please help me convert this into merit.”
She was going to give it to her Sharp Tongue Daddy.
Upon hearing this, the Ancestral Master floated out of the statue and asked, “All of it?”

Zhouzhou nodded her little head.
“I’ve already set aside some for Dad, Grandpa, and Grandma in other places. This is specially saved for my Sharp Tongue Daddy.”
She was fair and square, not neglecting anyone.
Generous yet a bit cheeky–that was her to a tee.
The Ancestral Master nodded. Seeing that the little girl had already made her plans, he didn’t say much more. With a wave of his hand, he whisked all the money away and handed her a small, fingernail-sized ball of merit light.
Zhouzhou carefully took it but couldn’t help but remark, “That’s way too little!”
As she spoke, her chubby little hands quickly pinched another ball of golden light from the Ancestral Master’s body, this one the size of a ping-pong ball, and dashed away.
The Ancestral Master stomped his feet in frustration behind her.
But as soon as the little girl was gone, a sly smile crept onto his face. He felt a bit smug.
Does she think he’s a fool? He had already expected her to pull this trick. The truth was, what he gave her at first wasn’t enough, so even after she “stole” a little more, he still came out ahead.
Ah, who’s not growing wiser here?
The old are always the cleverest—today, she got a life lesson!
Completely unaware she had been outwitted, Zhouzhou happily carried the merit light to Ye Lingfeng and said, “Daddy, hold out your hands.”
Ye Lingfeng, unsure of her intentions, obediently did so. A moment later, he felt a warm flow pass through his body, realizing what it was.
Certainly, it was the merits exchanged by his daughter.
Touched yet also concerned, he ruffled her hair and said, “Keep it for yourself.”
Zhouzhou was fond of money. She vigorously shook her head, patting her bag. “I’ve kept some for myself! With this, I can buy a big bag of treats!”
She grinned foolishly, her eyes brimming with sincerity.
Ye Lingfeng’s heart softened. How could his daughter be so endearing?
However, Zhouzhou didn’t give him much time to feel touched. Instead, she took a bit of the merits and handed it to Lu Ye and Wolf King.
It was their first time receiving such merits, and they didn’t know what Zhouzhou had given them, but they could feel the change in their bodies.
Though Ancestral Master’s virtue couldn’t compare to their Protective Light of the Nation, its conversion through faith was remarkably effective in protecting people.
Lu Ye felt as if his old injuries had somewhat healed. Surprised, he looked at Zhouzhou with disbelief in his eyes. This was his first time displaying such strong emotions.
Zhouzhou looked at him and advised, “Brother, Uncle Wolf, take care and come back safely.”
Then, she turned to Wolf King and howled for a while, “translating” her words.
This time, Wolf King didn’t find fault with her imperfect wolf language. Instead, he gently patted her hand, indicating that he understood.
Lu Ye’s eyes were full of tenderness as he gazed at Zhouzhou and nodded slowly.
The little chubby girl was right; innate kinship didn’t always guarantee goodness, and the absence of it didn’t mean the lack of affection.
After dinner, an airplane hovered over the Qin family’s estate. Hearing the noise, Zhouzhou knew they were leaving. Reluctantly, she waved goodbye.
Before leaving, Lu Ye bent down and said to Zhouzhou, “I’ll give you all the money I’ve earned.”
Upon hearing this, Zhouzhou’s eyes lit up, and she released their hands.
“Goodbye, brother!”
“Goodbye, Daddy!”
Lu Ye: “…”
Ye Lingfeng: “…”
Love had faded away.
