Chapter 727: A Beatdown for the Wicked Manager
Zhouzhou, unaware of what was happening in Gu Shao’s mind, excitedly ran up to him, jumped into his arms, and gave him a big kiss on the cheek. Gu Shao immediately beamed with joy.
“I’ll support her!” he thought. “Even if I had ten more Zhouzhous to care for, I could handle it!”
When Huo Ji’an and the others arrived, Zhouzhou proudly flaunted her “special privileges” and told them they could also choose what they wanted to eat.
Huo Ji’an, who had just endured another horrible meal prepared by Huo Mingxuan that morning, felt like he had thrown up more than he ate. His stomach was completely empty, so when he heard her offer, he immediately rattled off a list of dishes. At that moment, he felt like he could eat an entire cow!
Gu Shao glanced at him and removed all the meat dishes from his list. “Your stomach’s not great, so it’s better if you stick to lighter meals. I’ll make you some vegetable dishes instead.”
Recalling how delicious Gu Shao’s cooking was, Huo Ji’an licked his lips and nodded. “Okay, thank you, Second Senior Brother.”
Chang Beibei and the others quickly chimed in, “Thank you, Second Senior Brother!”
Li Yu’an scooted over and shyly asked, “Can I order something too?”
He gazed longingly at the others. After just a few months in elementary school, his face had thinned noticeably. He couldn’t help it–he was always getting into fights, and any good food he had went straight to Li Yuxin, leaving him with nothing.
Still, he used to be pretty chubby, so now that he’d slimmed down a bit, his facial features were more defined and less irritating to look at.
Zhouzhou, considering his recent behavior, nodded and said, “Alright, but you can only pick one of the dishes we’ve already ordered.”
This way, Gu Shao wouldn’t have to make an extra dish.
Li Yu’an pouted. “…Thanks, I guess.”
Though feeling a bit put out, he grudgingly selected a dish from their list. Then, turning to Li Yuxin, he said, “Sister, I’ll share half of my dish with you so you can have one more to eat.”
Li Yuxin smiled and patted his head. “Good boy.” She pulled a fruit candy from her pocket and handed it to him.
Li Yu’an accepted the candy like it was a precious treasure, eagerly unwrapping it and popping it into his mouth. The sweet and tangy flavor spread across his tongue, and his eyes squinted with joy. “It’s been so long since I’ve had candy!”
Indeed, being good to his sister was worth it–he even got candy out of it!
Seeing this, Zhouzhou finally relaxed. “As long as he behaves, Xinxin will be able to live a good life!” she thought, satisfied.
As class was about to start, Zhouzhou waved goodbye to Gu Shao and bounced off to her classroom.
When lunchtime came, Gu Shao indeed had all their meals ready. The kids gathered around, devouring the food with gusto. Gu Shao smiled with satisfaction as he wiped the corners of Zhouzhou’s mouth. “Take it slow, no need to rush.”
“Mhm mhm,” Zhouzhou nodded, though she didn’t slow down one bit.
Watching her eat made Gu Shao’s heart swell with happiness. “All this hard work was worth it just to see her enjoy a good meal!”
As he watched, Gu Shao’s phone rang. He glanced down and saw it was one of his former coworkers calling. Puzzled, he answered, “Hello?”
To his surprise, the person on the other end was frantic. “Gu, do you have any money? We need to borrow some, it’s an emergency!”
“What happened? What’s wrong?” Gu Shao’s brow furrowed in concern.
Zhouzhou, sensing something was up, perked up and listened curiously from the side.
“Old Li fell from the scaffolding and is in the hospital. The doctors are trying to save him, but we’re short a few thousand. Can you help us out?” The voice on the other end sounded like they were on the verge of tears.
Hearing this, Gu Shao’s heart sank. “Which hospital? I’ll be right there!”
The caller quickly rattled off an address.
Zhouzhou put down her chopsticks and wiped her mouth. “Second Senior Brother, I’ll go with you. I can save him.”

Considering her medical skills, Gu Shao didn’t hesitate. He scooped her up and dashed out the door.
Huo Ji’an’s bodyguard quickly followed. “I’ll drive you there.”
“Thanks, Uncle Sweetie,” Zhouzhou said, swiftly hopping into the car.
They sped to the hospital, arriving in under half an hour.
At the entrance to the emergency room, a group of people stood waiting. Just as they arrived, they overheard the site manager saying, “He wasn’t paying attention, so it’s his fault for falling. Why should we pay for it? He’s already delayed our project and damaged equipment. We’re being generous by not docking his wages.”
The manager looked at the group of worried workers and added, “And you lot–skipping work to come here? Your pay for today is gone!”
Gu Shao’s face instantly darkened. He set Zhouzhou down and said, “Zhouzhou, go ahead.”
“Mhm!” Zhouzhou darted toward the emergency room, wasting no time.
As the nurse stepped out, Zhouzhou slipped into the room. She quickly called Liu Hanqiu to explain, knowing how age discrimination often played out in the real world. Her presence might cause unnecessary issues.
Sure enough, the moment the nurse saw Zhouzhou, she tried to usher her out. “What are you doing here, little girl? This isn’t a place for children. You need to leave!”
But Zhouzhou was too fast, rushing to the operating table. The lead doctor frowned, but before he could react, the hospital director called, instructing them to let Zhouzhou work.
The lead doctor hesitated for a moment, then allowed Zhouzhou to proceed. She swiftly pulled out her gold needles, carefully inserting them into strategic acupoints.
Everyone watched in astonishment as the bleeding stopped. “Where did this little girl come from?” they murmured, surprised.
Zhouzhou paid them no mind, focusing intently on her work. The nurse watched the monitors, then exclaimed, “His blood pressure is stabilizing!”
The attending doctor glanced at Zhouzhou and decisively said, “I’ll assist you.”
This little girl was no ordinary kid.
Zhouzhou nodded, instructing, “Find a Revitalizing Pill from my bag and feed it to this uncle.”
Upon hearing that, a nurse hurried over, reaching into her bag, only to pull out a bunch of small bottles and jars.
She found the one labeled Revitalizing Pill and asked, “Is this the one?”
Zhouzhou nodded. “That’s right.”
The nurse quickly administered the pill. As she contemplated whether to give him some water, the pill dissolved the moment it entered his mouth, leaving the nurse even more amazed.
Zhouzhou’s chubby little fingers delicately pinched the needle tail, giving it a light flick, and spiritual energy flowed smoothly through her fingertips.
The attending doctor instinctively glanced at the monitor–heart rate was back to normal.
He held his breath, closely observing Zhouzhou’s every move. Zhouzhou didn’t mind him trying to learn her techniques and simply focused on saving the patient.
Two hours later, the doors to the emergency room finally swung open.
The manager’s voice echoed from outside, “Did he die? If he did, we’re going to claim compensation for emotional distress–this is so unlucky.”
Hearing that, Zhouzhou clenched her tiny fists and ran toward him. Without a word, she delivered a solid punch.
