Chapter 743: The Truth Behind the Abduction
“Zhouzhou.” The man called out to her.
“Uncle?” Zhouzhou rubbed her eyes in disbelief, rushing up to him and hugging his leg. She looked up with a puzzled expression and asked, “Why are you here too?”
“Did they kidnap you too?” Her face showed a fierce expression.
They could kidnap her, but not her uncle!
To her surprise, Xi Mo shook his head and said, “I brought you here.”
“Huh?” Zhouzhou froze, staring at him blankly, unable to process what was happening.
Xi Mo had intended to say something but paused, observing Zhouzhou’s reaction. He was curious to see how she would respond.
After a few seconds, Zhouzhou blinked, releasing her grip on his leg. Xi Mo noticed a dark flicker in his eyes–was she going to distance herself from him because of this?
However, Zhouzhou, looking down, removed the small dragon handcuffs from her waist and snapped them onto her own little chubby arm. She held it out towards him with a sigh of relief, saying, “You should have said so earlier. If it was you, I’d have come myself without all this hassle.”
With that, she jumped up, and her short legs clambered into his arms. She wrapped her little chubby legs around him and settled her soft, round bottom onto his lap.
Zhouzhou beamed up at him with a bright smile and asked, “Uncle, are you going to feed me?”
Xi Mo had considered countless scenarios, but he never imagined this one. His niece seemed a bit silly and sweet.
Seeing the trust in her eyes, he pressed his lips together, trying to keep a straight face, and asked, “Aren’t you afraid I’m a bad guy?”
“Not at all.” Zhouzhou casually wiggled her short legs. “Whether you’re good or bad, you’re still my uncle. As long as you’re nice to me, that’s enough.”
Besides, her uncle couldn’t possibly be a bad guy.
With that, Zhouzhou curiously peered around, asking, “Uncle, why are you doing this?”
Just then, footsteps were heard coming from outside the door. Xi Mo’s ears twitched. He pressed a button on the small dragon handcuffs to unlock them and handed Zhouzhou off to someone nearby, saying, “Take care of her, get her changed, and find something for her to eat.”
“I’ll be back soon.”
With that, he strode towards the courtyard.
Confused, Zhouzhou didn’t understand what was happening. The people in the room then emerged, some familiar faces from the earlier competition.
“Little Zhouzhou, long time no see!” One person waved cheerfully at her.
Zhouzhou waved back like a confused kitten, her face more perplexed than ever.
Even if her uncle had turned bad, surely not everyone would follow suit? What was going on?
Outside the door, Jinbao and Wangcai gathered in front of a house. They had picked up Zhouzhou’s scent!
Jinbao leapt to enter, but as if hitting an invisible wall, he bounced back with a thud. Laifu cautiously poked with a paw but retreated immediately, anxiously pacing in place.
Seeing this, Qin Lie frowned slightly and stepped forward. Yet, he faced the same barrier.
It seemed not to be high-tech but rather something…
“You’re here.” A familiar voice said.
Qin Lie looked up, his eyes flickering. On the way, he had considered many possibilities, but he hadn’t guessed Xi Mo.
Lu Ye, staring at him, furrowed his brows. “Why are you here?”

He looked around, his hand slowly reaching for the gun at his waist, but Qin Lie suddenly blocked his hand.
Calmly, Qin Lie said, “Where’s Zhouzhou?”
Xi Mo raised an eyebrow. “What if I said I sold her? What would you do?”
Qin Lie’s expression remained unchanged. He calmly countered, “Would you really do that?”
Indeed, Xi Mo wasn’t willing to do so. He remained silent.
Qin Lie’s gaze shifted slightly, and he said, “Ancestral Master, aren’t you going to open the door?”
“Heh, how did you know it was me?” The Ancestral Master’s voice floated over, curious.
Qin Lie shot him a look. “Who else could it be?”
Xi Mo and his group were definitely not involved in metaphysics. If they had taken Zhouzhou, she probably didn’t know it was him at first. The barrier had to be set by the Ancestral Master.
“Boring,” the Ancestral Master muttered, casually waving his hand to open the barrier. He added, “This wasn’t my idea. He made me do it.”
He pointed at Xi Mo.
Qin Lie glanced over and said, “Give us an explanation.”
“Come in first.” Xi Mo stepped aside to let them in.
Qin Lie didn’t hesitate and walked inside. Lu Ye followed after scrutinizing Xi Mo for a moment.
Jinbao’s eyes lit up, and he rubbed up against Xi Mo’s leg, enjoying the comforting aura.
Upon entering, Zhouzhou was seen sitting on a chair, eating heartily. Qin Lie’s heart finally eased.
He walked over but his expression darkened again when he saw her injuries.
“What happened?”
“Daddy!” Zhouzhou noticed him, her eyes lighting up. She put down her chopsticks and leaped into his arms.
Looking at her injuries, she nonchalantly said, “Daddy, I’m fine.”
Her current state didn’t look like she was fine at all. Lu Ye came over, examining her closely. His brows furrowed deeper. “Why are you in different clothes?”
She had gotten wet in the pool.
This reminded Zhouzhou of something. Her little head shot up as she looked around, puffing her cheeks in anger. “Who called me ‘little shorty’ just now?”
She remembered clearly. They had all laughed at her.
Hmph! It was time to settle scores.
Hearing this, everyone shook their heads and stepped back, their gazes converging on one direction.
Zhouzhou turned to see Xi Mo, her face showing a mix of surprise and disappointment.
Xi Mo: “…” He coughed, unable to suppress his reaction earlier.
Being snarky seemed contagious.
He hadn’t been like this before; it was Ye Lingfeng’s influence.
So it wasn’t his fault.
He thought this and shifted the topic, “Let’s get down to business.”
So it really was him!
Zhouzhou’s anger flared again, looking at him with a mix of disappointment and grievance.
Some people, when they’re nice, call you a baby, but turn around and call you ‘little shorty.’
Hmph! Men are all big pigs’ trotters!
Feeling guilty under the little girl’s gaze, Xi Mo didn’t know how to explain himself. He decided to turn on the computer instead. “Zhouzhou, come over and meet someone.”
Just then, a heart-wrenching scream came from the computer.
“Ah–“
