Chapter 746: Suffering from a Lack of Education
Zhouzhou had no idea that she was being toyed with. Feeling aggrieved, she looked up at Qin Lie with teary eyes and then burst into sobs.
“Wah! Daddy, I don’t know how to do it, I can’t get the reward money now!”
She had thought she was on the verge of becoming a little rich girl, but it turned out it was just wishful thinking again. Why was her life so hard?
Qin Lie gently stroked her small face and comforted her, “It’s okay. These are world-class problems that even many experts can’t solve. I believe that once you grow up and learn more, you’ll definitely be able to figure them out.”
But how long would that take? Zhouzhou slumped in his arms, utterly dejected. Earning the Protective Light of the Nation was already difficult enough, and now even making some money had to wait until she grew up?
Did that mean there was no hope of her becoming a little rich girl any time soon?
Ye Lingfeng looked at Qin Lie, who was sincerely consoling Zhouzhou, and cast him a disdainful glance. He was the one who had selected the impossible tasks, yet he acted so innocent about it. Noticing Ye Lingfeng’s gaze, Qin Lie brazenly stared back.
If Ye Lingfeng had the guts, he could show the original list of tasks to Zhouzhou. But then, Zhouzhou would grab a knife and head out to complete the missions right away, no doubt about it.
Ye Lingfeng knew it was true, so he didn’t expose Qin Lie’s scheme. Clearing his throat, he averted his eyes, unable to bear watching the heartbroken little girl any longer.
Zhouzhou rubbed her eyes, turned to Ye Lingfeng, and asked, “Daddy, didn’t you say there were bounties on those bad guys too? Why didn’t I see any of those?”
Ye Lingfeng lied without even blinking. “Oh, that’s because those tasks have already been taken by others, so they don’t show up anymore.”
Zhouzhou’s eyes dimmed completely. So in the end, she couldn’t earn anything? Then why did they even tell her about it! Knowing she couldn’t get anything was worse than not knowing at all.
With that thought, Zhouzhou looked at Ye Lingfeng with a pitiful, resentful gaze. Feeling guilty, Ye Lingfeng coughed and averted his eyes once more. The others could barely contain their laughter.
So, they didn’t even leave Zhouzhou a single task that could earn her some money! What was left were just problems–homework, not missions! Ruthless! Truly ruthless.
Having two dads was proving to be a mixed blessing. The way they worked together to trick their daughter, you’d think they had done it a hundred times before. Poor Zhouzhou–no matter how capable she was, she couldn’t escape the traps laid by her two fathers.
But Zhouzhou remained blissfully unaware of it all.
Xi Mo couldn’t help but smile. “Let’s get to the main topic,” he said, steering the conversation back.
Zhouzhou lay limp in Qin Lie’s arms, her chubby arms and legs dangling weakly. She wasn’t in the mood to listen to anything anymore.
Ye Lingfeng, however, looked over and asked, “Apart from this emergency training, do you have any other plans?”
Hearing this, Zhao Xinghua subtly edged toward the door, ready to make a quick escape if things got heated.
Through the screen, Xi Mo didn’t have such concerns. Besides, even if Ye Lingfeng decided to fight him, Xi Mo wasn’t sure he would lose. He spoke calmly, “Yes, we plan to take Zhouzhou for secret training, mainly to improve her ability to handle extreme environments.”
“For one, she’ll be better able to protect herself.”
“And two, the training base is in a secret location. Until you’ve dealt with the threats, no one will be able to find her.”
Upon hearing this, Zhouzhou’s ears perked up, and her head shot up eagerly. “Uncle, is it for fighting?”
Finally! She hadn’t fought in so long.
Xi Mo nodded. “And there are even more exciting things to do.”
Wow! Zhouzhou’s energy returned in an instant.
Ye Lingfeng’s face, on the other hand, darkened. “No,” he said coldly, his eyes icy as he looked at Xi Mo. “What kind of extreme environments are you talking about?”
Xi Mo met his gaze and pursed his lips slightly. “You know what I mean.”
They had both been through it.

“No way.” Ye Lingfeng stood up abruptly, his face expressionless. “Try laying a hand on Zhouzhou and see what happens.”
The so-called extreme environments Xi Mo referred to would be far more dangerous than what Zhouzhou experienced today.
Xi Mo remained calm. “Since you’ve allowed Zhouzhou to choose this path, why hesitate? The dangers she’ll face in the future will be far worse than this.”
“How long can you protect her?”
“She’s destined to take your place one day. More survival skills will only benefit her.”
Ye Lingfeng’s fists clenched tightly. “She’s only six years old.”
Xi Mo didn’t back down. “The enemies won’t care how old she is.”
They stared at each other, neither willing to give an inch.
Zhouzhou looked up at them, confused. Weren’t they talking about fighting? Why were they arguing?
“Daddy? Uncle?”
Zhouzhou cautiously called out.
Xi Mo turned back, his face softening instantly as he saw Zhouzhou’s timid expression. He gently patted her head and then looked at Ye Lingfeng. “Zhouzhou couldn’t even avoid the knockout drug today. What about the other methods those people might use?”
The drug Xi Mo had used earlier was carefully selected to avoid harming her body, but enemies wouldn’t be so considerate. Being lenient now wasn’t doing her any favors–it was endangering her.
Zhouzhou pouted in defense of herself. “That’s because Uncle used too much! Normally, I can handle it–Master taught me how to hold my breath.”
She had once tricked kidnappers that way.
But Xi Mo shook his head. “The dosage those bad guys use will only be heavier than mine.”
Well, Zhouzhou fell silent. After all, she had been knocked out this time.
Ye Lingfeng understood all of this, but just the thought of the extreme environments Xi Mo described made his heart ache.
He looked to Qin Lie and asked in a hoarse voice, “What do you think?”
Qin Lie wasn’t foolish. He knew from their argument that the situation wasn’t simple. If Ye Lingfeng, who cherished Zhouzhou, was still able to remain calm after hearing about the emergency training, it was only because he knew it was for her good. But now that he was opposing the plan, Qin Lie realized the so-called extreme training must be exactly what it sounded like–harsh and dangerous.
Qin Lie looked down at Zhouzhou, holding her hand, struggling to make a decision.
Xi Mo didn’t rush him. “There’s still an hour until dawn. You can discuss it. If you can’t bear it, then let Zhouzhou quit the Fourth Bureau as soon as possible.”
She would have to face this eventually.
“No way!” Zhouzhou protested, panicking. “I want to stay–I’m not leaving.”
She looked desperately at Ye Lingfeng, hugging the computer as if she were hugging him. “I still have to earn merit to protect Daddy!”
