Chapter 768: Someone’s Stealing the Dog!
After finishing her meal, Zhouzhou was instantly recharged.
Leaning back against the chair, her short legs swung lazily, and even Wei Fangyi looked more pleasing to her eyes.
Wei Fangyi gazed at her for a moment before asking, “What’s your relationship with Ye Lingfeng from the Fourth Bureau?”
Zhouzhou’s head whipped around, curiosity sparkling in her eyes. “Huh? Big Mouth Uncle, do you know my dad?”
Of course, with her appetite, it would be hard not to believe they were father and daughter.
Wei Fangyi shook his head. “Not really. We’ve just met a few times, and I’ve seen his eating capacity.”
Zhouzhou proudly patted her small, round belly and said with a smirk, “My dad said I inherited my appetite from him!”
As she spoke, her double chin lifted high in pride.
Wei Fangyi couldn’t help but laugh. He liked this little girl more and more.
While he wasn’t fully convinced by Xi Mo’s abilities, he had nothing but respect for Ye Lingfeng.
Unlike the rest of them, who had undergone professional training from a young age, Ye Lingfeng had only joined the Fourth Bureau in his twenties. Yet, within a few years, he had earned the title of War God.
Such talent and dedication were beyond the reach of ordinary people.
Wei Fangyi had always wondered who could surpass Ye Lingfeng, and now, it seemed, he had found the answer.
This little girl, with her extraordinary skills, would probably surpass him within a few years.
Intrigued, Wei Fangyi asked, “Little girl, how about a sparring match?”
Without thinking, Zhouzhou nodded but then quickly shook her head.
Seeing the curiosity in his eyes, she solemnly replied, “I don’t fight sick people. It’s unfair.”
Wei Fangyi chuckled. “You’ve got a good sense of honor.”
Of course! And besides, he was injured right now. Fighting him wouldn’t be satisfying.
Wei Fangyi, eager for a proper challenge, suggested, “Alright then, once I’m fully healed, we’ll have a match. Don’t forget!”
Zhouzhou patted her chest in promise. “I won’t forget!”
How could she forget something as important as a fight?
As they chatted, a tall figure appeared at the door.
Zhouzhou sensed it and immediately turned her head, eyes lighting up. “Uncle!”
Wei Fangyi lazily leaned back in his chair and said, “Oh look, it’s number two.”
Zhouzhou’s face darkened, and she shot a sneaky glare at him.
Trying to trick her!
Xi Mo glanced at Wei Fangyi, seemingly indifferent, but Wei Fangyi caught the subtle tightening of his brows at the mention of that nickname.
He wasn’t indifferent at all–he clearly cared!
Ha, he was getting better at pretending.

Xi Mo, not wanting to engage, walked over, looked at Zhouzhou’s little golden bucket, and asked gently, “Are you full?”
Zhouzhou patted her round belly and chirped, “Yes!”
“Good.” Xi Mo nodded, lifting the little girl into his arms. “Let’s go then.”
“Okay, okay!” Zhouzhou snuggled into his arms, her short legs swinging playfully. When she caught sight of Wei Fangyi, she bared her tiny teeth at him, mock-growling.
He better keep both eyes open tonight, or she’d get him for sure!
Her face puffed up in mock anger, waving her little fists at him, but instead of being scared, Wei Fangyi found her even more adorable.
Honestly, he hadn’t realized until today how weirdly delighted he felt when someone was being mean to him.
Xi Mo shook his head at him, thinking Wei Fangyi had definitely lost it.
Jealous of his relationship with Zhouzhou, the guy kept trying to drive a wedge between them.
Ha! So what if he was called “number two”? Zhouzhou still liked him the best.
Well, whatever. You couldn’t ask too much from a little heartbreaker like her.
He comforted himself with that thought, though he couldn’t deny that Wei Fangyi had gotten under his skin. He felt slightly annoyed.
Zhouzhou, ever observant, noticed the shift in his mood right away.
Curious, she reached out to cup his face. “Uncle, why are you upset? Who made you unhappy?”
Xi Mo shook his head. “No one.”
But there clearly was someone!
Zhouzhou sighed, pouting her lips as she leaned in and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek.
“Uncle, don’t be mad. Getting mad makes you look ten years older. A kiss makes you a year younger.”
With that, she kissed him nine more times, beaming. “Now you’re all better, and young again!”
Xi Mo couldn’t help but laugh. This little rascal must have learned these tricks from Ye Lingfeng. That guy never taught her anything proper.
Still, her sweet gestures did the trick–his annoyance melted away.
Well, it wasn’t the first day he knew Zhouzhou was a little heartbreaker. He just had to get used to it.
Thinking of Wei Fangyi, Xi Mo smirked coldly. He stroked Zhouzhou’s cheek and suddenly asked, “Zhouzhou, did you nap well today? Will you be able to sleep tonight?”
Zhouzhou shook her head, tilting her face up at him. “Uncle, do you have any fun places to recommend? Let’s go play!”
“I do,” Xi Mo replied with a mysterious smile.
For some reason, Zhouzhou felt that his smile was a bit mischievous.
But she liked it!
—
Late at night, when everything was quiet except for the guards patrolling outside, a large and small figure sneaked up to a certain room.
Zhouzhou, puzzled, looked up at Xi Mo. “Uncle, why are we here?”
Earlier, he had promised to take her to play but hadn’t said what they would play. He just told her to wait until midnight, and now everyone else was asleep. What could possibly be fun at this hour?
“This is when it gets fun,” Xi Mo said, ruffling her head and pointing inside the room. “Zhouzhou, do you see that dog in there?”
Zhouzhou stood on tiptoe to peer through the window but saw nothing but a wall.
Too short, she couldn’t even reach the window.
Xi Mo noticed and, suppressing a smile, silently lifted the little chubby girl up.
Zhouzhou was sure he was laughing at her for being short.
Hmph. So what if she was short? She was just building up strength! One day, when she grew tall, they wouldn’t even reach her on stilts!
As Xi Mo held her up, Zhouzhou remembered the task at hand and pressed her little face against the window, scanning the room. Soon, she spotted the dog.
Except…
“Big Mouth Uncle is hugging it while he sleeps.”
Of course, she thought. Wei Fangyi treated that dog like his own son, never letting anyone else even touch it.
If he found out his precious “son” was gone in the morning, he’d definitely freak out.
Xi Mo’s smile grew wider. “Your mission is to steal the dog.”
“Huh?” Zhouzhou was stunned.
She rubbed her chubby chin, thinking about what Wei Fangyi had done to her earlier, and clenched her little fist.
Yes! She would steal his dog and make him a lonely old man!
