Chapter 789: Earth Qi Formation
“I see,” Commander murmured, finally understanding. Noticing Ye Lingfeng’s calm demeanor, he asked curiously, “Did you already know?”
“Yeah, I had a hunch when we first arrived,” Ye Lingfeng replied, his experience from countless missions giving him an edge.
Zhouzhou, her admiration evident, looked at him with wide eyes. “Dad, you’re amazing!”
She had only discovered it after walking around earlier, yet her father had figured it out the moment they arrived. Ye Lingfeng, clearly pleased with his daughter’s adoration, smiled as he ruffled her hair.
Lowering his gaze to Zhouzhou, he asked, “Tell me, how exactly did your Compass fail?”
“Mm-hmm,” Zhouzhou nodded, her little legs swinging idly as she sat in the chair. What she said next, however, took both men by surprise.
“They used this entire region as the formation’s boundary, which is why my Compass stopped working.”
Both Ye Lingfeng and Commander were stunned by her words. After a few seconds, Commander finally snapped out of it and asked hurriedly, “The entire region? Do you mean the places we walked through today?”
“No,” Zhouzhou shook her head. “It’s much larger than that.”
She then looked up at Ye Lingfeng. “Dad, is there somewhere high up where I can see the whole area? I want to take a look from above.”
Ye Lingfeng glanced at her short legs and chuckled knowingly. Zhouzhou, realizing what he was thinking, pouted. “Even if you’re tall, you won’t see everything! We need to find somewhere much higher!”
Amused, Ye Lingfeng smiled as he tried to ruffle her hair again, but Zhouzhou dodged, still upset. She wasn’t going to let him touch her head that easily–she was mad!
Ye Lingfeng tugged gently on a strand of her hair, his tone teasing. “Alright, alright, I was just joking. Tomorrow, I’ll take you somewhere higher–and there will be good food too.”
Zhouzhou’s ears perked up at the mention of food. Her excitement returning, she eagerly nodded. “Okay, let’s go!”
Commander, however, grew wary and clutched his wallet. “Can you two please eat a little less?”
Of course, the answer was no. After all, it wasn’t often that they got a chance to go out, and it wasn’t even the Fourth Bureau’s money they were spending! Commander sighed, realizing there was no point in hoping they would save any money. After a few more missions like this, they’d eat him out of house and home.
Ye Lingfeng ignored him, hung up the phone, and went to bed. Before falling asleep, Zhouzhou performed a quick divination for Xi Mo, confirming he was still alive, which finally let her relax and close her eyes.
The next morning, father and daughter, both wearing sunglasses, polished off nearly half of the hotel’s breakfast offerings before casually strolling out under the waitstaff’s despairing gazes.
After all, the hotel breakfast was free. Waste not, want not! Clearly, the two knew how to save money.
Soon after, Ye Lingfeng took Zhouzhou to an amusement park.
Zhouzhou blinked up at him, curious. “Daddy, how are we supposed to be looking here?”
Ye Lingfeng pointed to a Ferris wheel in the distance and explained, “This is the tallest Ferris wheel in the world. Once we’re at the top, you’ll have a view of the whole city.”
“Oh, I see!” Zhouzhou nodded eagerly and, swinging his hand, urged, “Let’s go, let’s go!”
Work and play together–she was thrilled.
Taking a moment when nobody was paying attention, Zhouzhou leaned close to Ye Lingfeng’s earpiece and whispered, “Uncle Commander, just so you know, we’re working here.”
Definitely not just for fun.
The Commander couldn’t help but roll his eyes. “Get on with it.”
Who were they fooling? He was done with this father-daughter duo. Hmph.
Zhouzhou pouted back at him and then, even more excited, tugged at Ye Lingfeng to hurry over to the Ferris wheel.
Since he already had the tickets, they quickly got in line, which, this early in the day, was still short. Before long, it was their turn.

Zhouzhou, taking her first ride on a Ferris wheel, looked around curiously. Then, suddenly pausing, she turned to Ye Lingfeng. “Daddy, someone’s following us again.”
And it wasn’t the two from yesterday–this time, new faces.
Looks like they were really being watched.
Ye Lingfeng only needed a glance to know exactly who Zhouzhou was talking about. With a calm nod, he turned his gaze back to the distant scenery, casually saying, “Let them follow us.”
Since they hadn’t made a move yet, they were likely still preparing something. He wanted to see exactly what they had in mind.
Looking down at Zhouzhou, he reminded her, “Don’t make any sudden moves. Follow instructions carefully.”
“Mhm!” Zhouzhou nodded confidently, patting her little chest. “Daddy, you have to trust my expertise!”
She knew exactly what she was doing. She was officially part of the team now, not some amateur. Her double chin lifted proudly at the thought.
Ye Lingfeng chuckled at her serious expression. Ignoring their tail, they continued enjoying themselves, treating the outing like a normal day of fun.
When the Ferris wheel reached its highest point, Zhouzhou eagerly looked down. As she’d suspected, half of Jiang City was already shrouded in a thick, ominous energy, while the other half was slowly becoming engulfed as well. If things continued like this, trouble would surely follow.
Zhouzhou’s expression turned serious, focusing intently on the city below. Ye Lingfeng, sensing her shift, remained silent beside her.
Once they were back on the ground, Zhouzhou didn’t get off, and instead, looking up at him with a big grin, exclaimed, “Daddy, let’s go again! This is so much fun!”
As she said this, she lightly scratched his palm and winked at him. Catching on, Ye Lingfeng squeezed her hand and, with the flair of a doting father, declared, “Play! As long as you want to play, we can go all day!”
He looked every bit the indulgent dad, causing their observer to sneer in disdain.
What was the big deal with a little girl? Why spoil her so much?
If Zhouzhou could read minds, she’d surely teach them a lesson about exactly what she was capable of.
When the Ferris wheel reached the top again, Zhouzhou scanned the view once more, her suspicions now confirmed.
Just then, Ancestral Master floated beside her, his gaze narrowing as he looked down. “An Earth Qi Formation?”
Geoqi referred to the essence of the land, the energy of mountains and rivers. And the Earth Qi Formation was a ritual that drew power from that very energy. Someone was actively siphoning the life essence of Jiang City!
Zhouzhou nodded, her little face grave. Whoever was behind this had a major scheme in mind.
Just then, Ancestral Master raised his hand, pointing toward a specific area.
“Zhouzhou, look over there.”
Following his gaze, Zhouzhou’s eyes widened in shock.
The miasma there was terrifyingly strong!
