Chapter 792: Rescuing the Children
“They’ve all been hit by the Soul-Capturing Talisman, acting like idiots. Where could they run to? What’s there to watch?”
A man kicked the door open and entered the room, noticing Zhouzhou sitting with the children and Xi Mo and his team slumped weakly against the wall. His eyes flashed with disdain.
He cursed under his breath, clearly annoyed, thinking it was humiliating to be assigned such an easy job. These people were practically mindless now–what was there to keep an eye on?
While he was complaining, he didn’t notice Zhouzhou and Xi Mo exchanging a quick glance.
A second before the door opened, Zhouzhou had swiftly returned to her position, her expression blank as her performance began. With her acting skills, she could easily win an award. She made a mental note to ask her third uncle for a trophy when they got back.
Another person entered the room, slapping the first man on the shoulder. “Stop grumbling. You know the boss’s temperament. He’s always been cautious. Just hold out for two more days. Once we’ve sent these people off, the boss’s big plan will be complete, and we can finally enjoy ourselves. We’ll have a nice drink afterward.”
“That’s for sure,” the first man replied, finally lightening up a bit. “I’ve been stuck in this godforsaken place for so long. Stay here any longer, and I might turn into a caveman. I have no idea what the boss was thinking, choosing such a place.”
“Hush,” his companion warned, scanning the surroundings warily. “Keep your voice down. If the boss hears you, do you want to live?”
“Besides, it wasn’t even the boss who chose this location. It was…”
The man’s voice dropped lower as he finished his sentence, so only the two could hear.
At that moment, the Ancestral Master floated over, listening in on their conversation, nodding occasionally in understanding.
After hearing enough, he quickly rushed back to Zhouzhou and relayed what he had learned.
“They said it was Master Wei who ordered them to do this. The day after tomorrow is the 15th, and during the lunar eclipse, they plan to sacrifice all of you to complete the formation.”
Hearing this, his expression grew cold.
Using people as sacrifices–such a dark and evil formation. How could they stoop so low?
It was fortunate they discovered this in time. If not, once the Earth Qi Formation was completed, the entire city’s fortune would be drained by these people.
The chilling thought made the Ancestral Master radiate an even colder aura.
The two men, suddenly feeling a chill, shivered.
“Why is it so cold in here?”
“I know, right? Ever since Master Wei set up that formation, it feels like it’s getting colder by the day.”
They rubbed their arms, eventually leaving the room to warm themselves by the fire, still unconcerned about the captives. After all, with the Soul-Capturing Talisman in place, there was nothing to worry about.
As soon as they left, Zhouzhou’s eyes darted around, instantly snapping out of her act.
“Ancestral Master, what should we do?”
Zhouzhou looked up at him, seeking advice. This was her first encounter with such a formation, and she didn’t know what to do.
The Ancestral Master was also troubled, knowing that if they allowed the formation to succeed, the consequences would be disastrous.
Suddenly, a thought struck him, and his eyes lit up. “I’ve got it! We’ll leave first. Without people, the formation won’t work.”
Oh, that’s simple enough!
But Xi Mo raised a valid concern. “What about the children?”
He glanced at the dazed kids. They didn’t have Zhouzhou’s skills and were still under the talisman’s control.
Even if the talisman were removed, managing so many kids–who might cry and alert the enemy–could cause trouble. It wasn’t a matter of fear, but concern over the enemy’s dirty tricks.

It was a real problem.
Zhouzhou stroked her double chin, and suddenly, an idea came to her. “I’ve got it!”
She motioned for the Ancestral Master to lean in and whispered her plan. His smile grew wider as she spoke.
“That’ll work! Let’s do it!”
Zhouzhou grinned and pulled out some talismans, quickly drawing on them.
Xi Mo watched, confused. He had no idea what she was up to.
In no time, Zhouzhou had finished a stack of talismans and slapped one on each child’s forehead.
Before long, forty-eight little zombies stood up in unison.
“Stand up,” Zhouzhou commanded.
The children obediently rose to their feet.
“Sit down.”
They sat back down just as obediently.
They were as well-behaved as before, except now they followed Zhouzhou’s orders instead of the bad guys’.
Xi Mo was amazed. “What… what is this?”
Zhouzhou proudly explained, “Uncle, it’s still the Soul-Capturing Talisman. I just added something to change who they obey. Now, instead of listening to the bad guys, they listen to me!”
The little chubby girl wiggled her head in pride.
Impressive! Even Xi Mo hadn’t thought of this. He looked at Zhouzhou with admiration.
The Ancestral Master, too, was impressed by the girl’s quick thinking but decided not to praise her just yet, seeing her already puffed-up pride. Instead, he pinched her Fortune Hair and said, “Alright, stop showing off. Let’s finish the task first.”
Huffing, Zhouzhou shook off his hand. “I’m not showing off–I’m just awesome!”
She sneaked outside to eavesdrop on the men’s conversation again. Unfortunately, the big boss and Master Wei weren’t around, only small fry.
Zhouzhou returned, a little disappointed, and reported the situation.
By now, Xi Mo’s team had recovered their strength. One of them grumbled, “I wish we could just take them out now!”
“Be patient,” Xi Mo said coldly. “It’s not time yet. These are just small fish. Their bosses are the real targets.”
“Right, right!” Zhouzhou nodded vigorously. “Fish! Big fish!”
Salivating at the thought, she added, “Eat fish, eat fish…”
Seeing the glint in her eyes, Xi Mo chuckled. “When we’re done here, I’ll buy you some fish.”
Zhouzhou grinned happily, nodding enthusiastically.
That night, as the mountain fell quiet and everyone slept, Zhouzhou led her little zombie army down the mountain. With the Soul-Capturing Talismans still in effect, the children were easy to manage.
Worried about the kids’ safety, the team members carried several children each, and Zhouzhou held two by the hand, carefully leading them down the mountain.
Just as they reached the halfway point, they heard the sound of hurried footsteps behind them. Suddenly, the entire mountain lit up.
“They’re here! Capture them!”
The bad guys charged at them.
Zhouzhou panicked, about to take action, when a tall figure suddenly appeared in front of her.
A steady voice whispered, “You all go first.”
