Chapter 803: Restoring Virtue
Zhouzhou was startled, and quickly hugged her head with both hands, jumping to the side as she cried out with a hint of panic, “Don’t strike me!”
She hadn’t done anything wrong, and she certainly wasn’t trying to cause any trouble. Why would lightning strike her?
In the next moment, it seemed like a disdainful snort could be heard from the sky. A small lightning branch reached out toward her, but it bypassed her and instead reached into her bag, pulling out a talisman before shooting straight at Lu Mingyuan.
With a thunderous roar, Lu Mingyuan’s entire body turned pitch black, collapsing backward as his transparent spirit was yanked out and shoved into the talisman.
Zhouzhou, with her sharp eyes, saw everything clearly — it was the Torture from Hell Talisman.
Ah, so that was what it wanted!
Why didn’t it just ask for it earlier? She would’ve given it right away. No need to scare her like that. Hmph.
At this moment, the person lying on the bed seemed to sense something, and a tear slid down from the corner of their eye. The heart monitor by the bedside began emitting a sharp sound, and the line on the screen flattened.
Zhouzhou turned her head and saw Ruoruo’s spirit beginning to drift out from her body.
This isn’t good!
Zhouzhou’s face changed. She quickly rushed forward and placed a Soul Stabilization Talisman on Ruoruo’s forehead.
However, Ruoruo’s spirit merely wobbled for a moment before forcibly breaking free of the talisman’s hold.
Zhouzhou stood frozen for a second, puzzled.
Ruoruo’s spirit floated in the air, her eyes now open, and she looked more gentle than ever. She smiled warmly and said, “Thank you, little girl. I know you want to save me, but I don’t want to live alone.”
“Yuan had only made this mistake because of me, so I share responsibility. I’m going to accompany him.”
With that, she floated into the Torture from Hell Talisman, reaching out to hold Lu Mingyuan’s hand. Their eyes met, and with a soft smile, she said gently, “You promised we would be husband and wife in our next life too. How could you tell me not to meet you again?”
Tears suddenly welled up in Lu Mingyuan’s eyes.
Zhouzhou also began bawling uncontrollably, clinging to Ye Lingfeng’s leg, her tears and snot smearing all over his pants. She missed her mom. Her mom was also so gentle.
Ye Lingfeng looked down at her. He was initially planning to lift her up, but seeing her sobbing so pitifully, he hesitated.
After a brief silence, he began gently patting her back to comfort her.
After a while, Zhouzhou finally calmed down, and her crying subsided. She sniffled, then grabbed Ye Lingfeng’s clothes, about to blow her nose.
At that, Ye Lingfeng’s expression darkened. He quickly lifted the little chubby girl into the air.
Zhouzhou sniffled again, the snot dripping down.
Ye Lingfeng frowned in disgust, muttering, “You little mess.”
“You’re the messy one!” Zhouzhou pouted and glared at him. “I know how to wipe my nose; I’m very clean!”
There were even kids in her class who ate their boogers!
Thinking about that, Zhouzhou felt even more justified.
She was very clean.
Ye Lingfeng glanced at her, slightly exasperated, and pulled out a handkerchief to wipe her nose. Then, he folded it up and stuffed it back into her bag.
“Little girls should stay clean.”

“I am clean,” Zhouzhou blinked innocently.
Her Ancestral Master chimed in sarcastically, “Oh yeah, sure. You’re the cleanest. You never wipe your nose with your own clothes; you always use other people’s.”
“Ancestral Master, you’ve got the nerve to say that!” Zhouzhou shot back defiantly.
They had both wiped their noses on each other before, so who could win this argument?
The Ancestral Master snorted, “Why wouldn’t I?”
Just as they were about to start bickering, a group of people suddenly kicked the door open.
“Where is Lu Mingyuan?” Lu Minghan, with his arm in a sling across his chest, shouted aggressively.
Lu Mingcheng, no longer able to maintain his usual calm facade, looked sullen.
Lu Mingya suddenly noticed a foot wearing leather shoes. Walking over, she saw Lu Mingyuan lying charred on the ground, clearly dead.
She froze for a moment, then burst into crazed laughter.
“I knew it! That scumbag! Even the heavens couldn’t stand him!”
Lu Mingcheng and Lu Minghan walked up as well, seeing his scorched corpse. For a brief moment, their faces lit up with malicious satisfaction.
The humiliation and disgrace they had felt just moments earlier, being thrown out like dogs, was instantly forgotten.
Lu Mingyuan, struck by lightning and dead — what could be better news than this?
So what if he inherited their father’s shares? He was still a short-lived fool!
The thought filled them with glee, and they started laughing together.
Zhouzhou tilted her head, watching them, confused. She didn’t understand why these soon-to-be broke losers were laughing.
They sure were optimistic.
When she had been poor, she certainly couldn’t find anything to laugh about.
Just as they were convinced that the family fortune was theirs again, Butler Zhou walked in.
He looked at Lu Mingyuan’s charred remains, slightly shocked, but his expression quickly returned to normal. He removed his jacket and covered Lu Mingyuan’s face with it.
Seeing this, Lu Mingcheng sneered openly, “Butler Zhou, who are you trying to impress? Your master’s already dead.”
“Exactly,” Lu Minghan said with a maniacal grin. “Your master’s gone, and you’re still kissing up to him. What, are you planning to die with him too?”
Butler Zhou remained calm, not bothered by their mockery.
When they finished laughing, he pulled out a document and said, “The chairman left a will this morning. If he passed away, all his assets were to be liquidated and donated to charity.”
This, of course, included the shares of the Lu Corporation.
In an instant, their faces froze, the laughter vanishing.
“Impossible!” Lu Mingcheng’s face twisted with fury. He lunged forward, grabbed the document, and tore it to shreds.
Usually composed and dignified, the loss of his family’s wealth pushed him over the edge, his face flushed red with anger.
Butler Zhou remained unfazed, watching him with calm detachment.
This was their true nature. They might hide behind a mask in public, but at home, their true colors always came out.
This family, from the eldest to the youngest, was cold and heartless. All except for Lu Mingyuan.
Although his second personality led him astray, his acts of charity were genuine. Countless people had benefited from his kindness.
In the Lu family, he had been a rare decent person.
Too bad he was born into the wrong family. Any other home would have been a hundred or a thousand times better.
At least in his next life, maybe he would have better luck.
But then again, Butler Zhou didn’t know that Lu Mingyuan wouldn’t get the chance for reincarnation.
He had committed too many grave sins, and he would be trapped in the Torture from Hell Talisman, enduring endless punishment.
The thunder had spared his soul, but that was merely another form of retribution.
While the others spiraled into madness, Zhouzhou happily clapped her little hands. “Yay!”
Those bad people could go beg on the streets now!
