Chapter 82: Quirky Head Statue
“Shixi Mountain?” Zhouzhou turned her head and furrowed her brows slightly. “Uncle, is there anything special about this place?”
“Not really. Shixi Mountain is on the outskirts of Jing City and has a nice scenery. It has just recently been developed into a tourist attraction. The trajectory interMystery Section of the injured people was at this Shixi Mountain,” Second Elder Uncle explained.
Zhouzhou wanted to find something that they all had in common or a place they had all visited.
In that case, Shixi Mountain seemed to fit the criteria.
Seeing her lost in thought, Qin Xu lowered his voice and asked, “Zhouzhou, is there something wrong with that place?”
There were things he couldn’t say openly, but Zhouzhou understood instantly.
She nodded and glanced around before pulling him to the rooftop. “Uncle, these people have curses and negative energy on them.”
“Curses and negative energy?” Qin Xu was confused. “What does that mean?”
“It means they have curses along with negative energy, which can affect a person’s health. Curses can bring about misfortune, so it is not good. Uncle, I need to go to Shixi Mountain and have a look,” Zhouzhou said.
She felt that the problem was probably related to that place.
Even if she didn’t say anything, Qin Xu still planned on going there. He nodded in agreement. “Okay, let’s go. The car is outside.”
“Wait a minute,” Zhouzhou suddenly held onto him and looked up at him with a smile. “Uncle, can you help me make a call to my dad? He doesn’t let me wander around without his permission.”
Otherwise, she would be the one paying for the damages!
For someone like her, who was short on life but long on money, thirty thousand was worse than death!
Seeing the pitiful look on her, Qin Xu couldn’t help but laugh. He had thought that Zhouzhou was some kind of renowned expert earlier with the way she was talking so confidently, but now he could see she was still just a child.
He nodded with a smile. “Alright, don’t worry. I’ll talk to your father.”
“Thank you, Second Elder Uncle!” Zhouzhou’s eyes lit up, and she shouted into her phone.
Incidentally, Qin Xu had not yet hung up the phone, and Qin Lie heard everything clearly. He could imagine what she looked like right now. She was too mischievous. She wanted to be at the forefront of everything.
However, he knew that Zhouzhou wanted to earn merit and was busy carrying on the great cause of reviving Mystery Sect. She was probably more occupied than usual.
Thinking about this, he sighed lightly and raised his voice a little louder. “Be careful and stay safe.”
Qin Xu lowered his phone and listened to what Qin Lie said. Zhouzhou nodded repeatedly, not caring if he could see her or not. She replied cutely, “Okay, Dad, I know.”
After hanging up the phone, Qin Lie’s fingers lightly tapped on the desk. This would not do. He needed to get the foundation’s information immediately…
–
After getting Qin Lie’s permission, Zhouzhou confidently followed Qin Xu to Shixi Mountain.
As soon as she got out of the car, Zhouzhou felt something was off and stopped in her tracks.
Noticing her hesitation, Qin Xu said, “People nowadays have a lot of stress, so they tend to seek out natural scenery to relax. The scenery here is really nice.”
Zhouzhou nodded but suddenly pointed in a direction and asked, “Uncle, what’s over there?”
They had also invited the director of the scenic area to come along this time.
The director had assumed that Zhouzhou was just here for fun, but when he followed her finger and looked in that direction, his expression changed slightly. He also noticed that Zhouzhou’s expression wasn’t quite right.
Suddenly aware of his change in demeanor, Qin Xu asked calmly, “What’s wrong? Is there something abnormal over there?”

His tone was light and breezy, but carried an invisible pressure. His gaze was sharp, as if he could peer into people’s hearts with just one look. The director’s heart trembled, unable to lie, he looked around before whispering, “There used to be excavation going on over there, and they found a statue. The experts determined it was over hundreds of years old, but it was covered in fresh blood. It was a Buddha statue.”
He had been overseeing the excavation at the time, and the image was still horrifying to think about.
“What kind of Buddha statue?” Qin Xu pressed.
The director hesitated, but not daring to hide anything, he said, “It’s a strange statue. When it was found, it was covered in fresh blood, but it’s an old artifact.”
“Rubbish!” Zhouzhou furrowed her brows. “It can’t be a Buddha statue!”
Buddha is said to guide and bless sentient beings, and how could it have some curse?
“It’s true. I’m not lying to you,” the director insisted. “If you don’t believe me, I can take you to see it, it’s still there.”
“Let’s go have a look,” Zhouzhou said, convinced.
The director was taken aback that she had such a bold and resolute attitude. He turned to Qin Xu and said, “Officer Qin, what do you think about this?”
“Let’s go,” Qin Xu nodded.
Seeing this, the director froze for a moment, not expecting such a reaction. He changed his tune and gave them a warning, “This Buddha statue is a bit ominous. If you insist on seeing it, and anything happens later, don’t blame me.”
He had only said half the sentence when he noticed Zhouzhou’s gaze. He was actually scared of her and quickly changed his words, “This statue is strange, if you insist on seeing it, just be careful.”
He had already heard about the car accident from yesterday and it reminded him of this matter. When he saw Qin Xu today, his heart instantly turned cold.
It seemed like his fears had materialized.
“Let’s go,” Qin Xu urged, nodding his head to indicate they should leave.
The person in charge had no choice but to lead the way for them. They led the way to the storeroom where Zhouzhou had pointed at. The person in charge opened the lock, but didn’t go in. He just stood at the entrance and said, “I won’t go inside.”
Sweat dripping down his forehead and legs trembling, he refused to budge even when Zhouzhou didn’t force him. She strode inside the storeroom with great strides.
Qin Xu turned on the light beside him, making the place immediately bright. His eyes landed on a pair of bright red eyes.
He suddenly understood why the person in charge didn’t dare to enter.
The library was huge, and the most eye-catching thing was the three-meter-high statue, as the person in charge had described. The statue was covered with blood that was crimson red, and even its eyes were red, giving off an eerie and scary vibe.
The statue was supposed to be in the likeness of a Buddha, but he couldn’t help but feel something was wrong. Rather than the solemn and sacred vibe of the photos he had seen in a temple, it felt ominous and menacing.
It was just not right.
He looked towards Zhouzhou, who reached out to touch the statue. His heart clenched as he said, “Zhouzhou!”
He felt that it was better to believe that something existed than to believe it didn’t, especially since Zhouzhou’s existence proved that these things were indeed real.
When she heard him, Zhouzhou turned around and saw his worried expression, smiling back at him, “It’s okay, Second Elder Uncle, they’re just small fry.”
As she said that, she turned her head, and with a flick of her wrist, her paper talisman turned into a peach wood sword, pointing directly towards a certain spot, “Get out!”
“What kind of thing are you, and how dare you pretend to be a Buddha?”
After those words, the peach wood sword was jammed directly into the statue’s eye.
Immediately, a sharp scream came from the storage room. Soon after, something rushed out of the room.
Zhouzhou was well-prepared and immediately cast her incantation, deflecting the thing back towards where it came from, causing it to collapse onto the ground.
Qin Xu couldn’t see what it was with his ordinary eyesight, but Zhouzhou could see clearly that it was a cluster of ominous energy, far more powerful than she had imagined. It had already taken shape, which explained how it could implement curses.
Zhouzhou sneered, “Asking for death!”
With that, she raised her hand, pointing directly at the cluster of energy, preparing to pierce it.
Seemingly sensing the danger, the demonic energy shuddered and cried out, “Big sister, have mercy!”
That voice was clearly that of a child!
