Chapter 820: Daily Display of the Daughter
When Zhouzhou, holding Ye Lingfeng’s hand, bounced back to the Qin household, Grandma Qin immediately knew they had reconciled. A content smile spread across her face.
“Now that’s more like it, no need for you two to argue.”
Zhouzhou shyly scratched her head and giggled, “I won’t do it again.”
However, Ye Lingfeng said, “That’s not guaranteed.”
Hearing this, Zhouzhou froze and stared at him blankly. After a moment, the little chubby girl realized what he meant and anxiously explained, “Dad, I really won’t argue with you anymore!”
But he wanted to argue with her. It was fun to tease her until she cried! Or maybe he could pretend to be upset and let her coax him–that didn’t sound bad either.
However, Ye Lingfeng knew these thoughts were a bit mischievous, so he didn’t say them out loud.
Qin Lie, on the other hand, could see right through him and rolled his eyes in exasperation. He had never seen anyone this difficult. Did his subordinates know what he was really like? Zhouzhou was more mature than he was!
Qin Xu had also caught on and rubbed his forehead in disbelief. Before meeting Ye Lingfeng, he had always viewed him as a cold, proud war god who struck fear into the hearts of countless enemies. Who could have imagined that in front of Zhouzhou, he was just a childish man who couldn’t go a day without stirring up trouble?
He twitched his mouth in disbelief and looked away.
Meanwhile, Zhouzhou was still explaining, “Dad, I really won’t argue with you anymore.”
This silly girl–she was being tricked and didn’t even know it.
Qin Lie looked at Ye Lingfeng silently, wondering how he could bear to deceive Zhouzhou like this.
Ye Lingfeng showed through his actions that he could. After a moment of hesitation, he reluctantly nodded and said, “Alright, we’ll see how you behave.”
Hearing this, Qin Lie could barely resist the urge to punch him. The little chubby girl, however, didn’t realize she had been tricked and simply grinned up at Ye Lingfeng with her innocent little face.
Qin Xu couldn’t bear to watch any longer, his view of Ye Lingfeng shifting to one of mild disdain. Who would have thought he was such a person!
Ye Lingfeng didn’t care at all. He held Zhouzhou, grinning with happiness. The Qin family watched in amusement, shaking their heads.
Grandma Qin, in particular, couldn’t help but laugh, “Alright, everyone, take a break. Zhouzhou, come have some fruit.”
“Yay!” At the mention of food, Zhouzhou immediately perked up and hopped over to the table.
Qin Lie also moved toward the sofa, pausing briefly as he passed Ye Lingfeng, giving him a glance before muttering, “Quite the actor, aren’t you?”
Ye Lingfeng took no shame in it, giving him a casual glance in return, “I can’t help it. I take after Zhouzhou.”
Zhouzhou was quite the little drama queen herself, so as her father, he couldn’t afford to fall behind.
Seeing his smug expression, Qin Lie found himself at a loss for words. Indeed, when someone doesn’t care about their dignity, they can be invincible. Ye Lingfeng had clearly reached that level.
Watching Qin Lie’s frustration, Ye Lingfeng’s mood soared, and he happily settled into the sofa.
Qin Xu sympathetically patted Qin Lie on the shoulder. There was nothing to be done; Ye Lingfeng was simply too shameless.
Qin Lie shook his head and didn’t say anything more. After chatting with Grandpa Qin and Grandma Qin for a while, Ye Lingfeng returned to the neighboring house once Zhouzhou fell asleep.
He did have unfinished business–the end-of-year report still needed completing.
As soon as he opened his laptop, he saw Commander grinning at him, clearly enjoying the show.
“So, how’s it going? Done fooling the kid yet?”
Hmph, there was no need to guess. Commander knew exactly how this man operated. Ye Lingfeng had undoubtedly tricked Zhouzhou into running circles around him. And judging by his good mood, it was clear his plan had succeeded.

Ye Lingfeng smirked, feeling triumphant. He glanced at Commander, “What do you mean, fooling? You don’t have a daughter, so you wouldn’t understand. We were just playing.”
Commander: “…”
Look at how shameless he was!
After a few jokes, Commander cleared his throat, shifting to a more serious tone, “When will you come back after the New Year? Things are heating up over there again.”
He was referring to a group of international mercenaries, made up entirely of wanted criminals from various countries–arrogant and constantly provoking others. Ye Lingfeng had crossed paths with them many times, but they were slippery like eels, always managing to escape at the last second. Lately, they had shown signs of stirring up trouble again, so Commander had come to discuss the matter.
Hearing this, Ye Lingfeng’s expression grew serious.
“I’ll leave after the fifth.”
Commander frowned at this, “Why after the sixth? Do you plan on starting work on the seventh like everyone else?”
In their line of work, there was no such thing as a holiday. In fact, they were often busiest during supposed breaks.
Ye Lingfeng explained, “The sixth is Zhouzhou’s birthday.”
Fine, as a total daughter-obsessed man, of course Zhouzhou’s birthday would be a big deal to him.
“I can manage on my end, but I can’t control when those guys will act. You know what I mean.”
Who knew when they’d decide to stir up trouble?
“Understood,” Ye Lingfeng nodded. “Are there any tasks in Jing City in the coming days? I’ll take care of them first and keep the sixth free.”
If those mercenaries dared to cause trouble on that day, he wouldn’t mind eliminating them as a New Year’s gift to society.
“Got it.” Commander nodded briskly, having no objections. “I’ll gather the information and send it to you.”
“Thanks.”
Just as Commander was about to end the call, Ye Lingfeng suddenly stopped him.
Commander, puzzled, looked back, thinking there was something important. Instead, Ye Lingfeng pulled something out of his pocket and waved it–something that looked vaguely familiar.
“Look, this is the lucky money Zhouzhou gave me. I got more than Qin Lie did.”
Commander squinted, recognizing it. Wasn’t that Zhouzhou’s tournament prize? She had broken it in half and given part to Ye Lingfeng.
“Zhouzhou said I should sell it to buy new clothes. By the way, Commander, have you bought new clothes? It’s been a cold year, remember to buy a warm coat.” As he said this, Ye Lingfeng waved the money gift again.
The word “coat” clearly carried a double meaning.
Commander: “…”
Seeing Ye Lingfeng’s smug expression, Commander twitched his mouth, then promptly hung up the video call with a “snap,” rolling his eyes as he did so.
So what if you have a daughter? It’s not that big of a deal!
Hmph.
As the screen went black, Ye Lingfeng didn’t mind. He sighed lightly, “Ah, jealousy, it’s understandable.”
After all, who else was as lucky as he was, with such a cute little daughter?
The next day, as soon as Zhouzhou woke up, a thought suddenly occurred to her. She jumped out of bed in a flash, put on her slippers, and ran straight to Qin Er’s room.
She shook his arm and whispered in his ear, “Brother Dafu, when will I get my scholarship money from the final exams?”
