Chapter 821: Calling Him “Uncle” Instead of “Dad”
Qin Er was still asleep when the mention of “scholarship money” suddenly woke him up. He opened his eyes and saw Zhouzhou standing there. It took him a few seconds to fully wake up, and he wiped his face before saying, “Oh, it’s you, Caicai.”
“Yes, it’s me!” Zhouzhou nodded her little head eagerly, tugging on his sleeve and repeating, “Brother Dafu, my scholarship.”
“The scholarship will be distributed when school starts. There will also be an award ceremony where they’ll give you a little red flower, and Grandpa and Grandma can take pictures for you.”
“Wow!” The first grader, having never experienced this before, gasped in amazement.
Seeing her reaction, Qin Er gently patted her head.
He hadn’t seen Caicai for a month and found himself missing her. Even running the stall by himself had felt boring.
“Caicai, I’m going to sell some New Year’s goods in a bit. Do you want to come with me?”
“Yes, yes, yes!” When it came to earning money, Zhouzhou didn’t hesitate at all and nodded enthusiastically.
“Let’s go.” Qin Er was no longer sleepy.
The two little money enthusiasts changed their clothes and strapped on a large bag, ready to head out.
Just as Zhouzhou was about to hop onto her little scooter, Grandma Qin quickly pulled them back. “Eat first, then go.”
Fair enough. Eating was just as important as making money.
After eating, the two of them grabbed their large bag and headed out.
Grandma Qin watched them with a smile and followed them to the car.
Seeing this, Zhouzhou tilted her head and asked, “Grandma, are you coming with us to sell stuff?”
Grandma Qin shook her head. “No, I’m going to buy New Year’s goods.”
With the New Year only two days away and a few things still missing from the house, Grandma Qin planned to take care of that.
Zhouzhou suddenly understood and proudly patted her chest. “Grandma is going shopping, and I’m going to sell things. I’ll earn money for Grandma to spend!”
Upon hearing this, Qin Er glanced at her, thinking that the money they earned probably wouldn’t even cover her meals.
Grandma Qin, of course, knew this too but didn’t want to dampen her granddaughter’s enthusiasm. She gently pinched Zhouzhou’s chubby cheeks and said happily, “Alright, I’ll wait for Zhouzhou to take care of me in the future.”
“Count on it!” Zhouzhou promised confidently.
Once they arrived at the market, Zhouzhou and Qin Er set up their stall and began calling out to customers.
The little girl’s voice was soft and sweet, and her cute appearance quickly attracted people’s attention in the bustling market. In no time, many curious shoppers gathered around.
Half of the goods they were selling were toys they had bought wholesale, and the other half were items Qin Er had made himself.
He offered hair accessories, small trinkets, and even calligraphy pieces. Having taken calligraphy lessons with Qin Ren, he laid out sheets of paper and began writing couplets and the character for “blessing” on the spot, which sold like hotcakes.
Zhouzhou gasped in admiration. “Brother Dafu, you’re amazing!”
Qin Er humbly waved it off. “It’s just a way to make money.”
Life wasn’t easy. You needed skills to earn a living.
Hearing this, even the nearby customers couldn’t help but laugh. This kid was quite funny. So young, yet already so aware of life’s hardships.
Zhouzhou looked at Qin Er with admiration. Inspired, she quickly pulled out her own yellow paper and cinnabar ink.

Opening her mouth, she called out, “Talismans! Home protection talismans, wealth talismans, and evil warding talismans, all for just two yuan each! Don’t miss out!”
Ye Lingfeng, who had just arrived, nearly spat out his water when he heard this. He stood there, dumbfounded, staring at Zhouzhou.
Where did she learn this? She’s definitely spent time in those discount stores.
The people around them were also amused by Zhouzhou’s antics. This brother-sister duo was quite the pair, each more entertaining than the other.
“I want one,” a customer said. After all, it was only two dollars. Even if it was a loss, it wasn’t much.
Without knowing it, they were actually getting quite the deal.
After watching for a while, Ye Lingfeng finally stifled his laughter and walked up to the stall.
Zhouzhou was busy drawing a talisman. Noticing someone approach, she glanced at his shoes and, without looking up, asked, “Uncle, what kind of talisman would you like?”
Upon hearing this, Ye Lingfeng’s face darkened. He tugged at her ponytail, annoyed. “A daughter talisman.”
Wait, that voice…
Zhouzhou looked up, and her eyes lit up instantly. “Daddy!”
She immediately tossed aside her pen, hugged his leg, and beamed, “Daddy, why are you here?”
“I came to see my ungrateful daughter, who almost forgot me. You better draw me a talisman to get my daughter back.”
Uncle? Humph, this little chubby girl sure knew how to push his buttons.
Zhouzhou giggled sheepishly, pried open his hand, and placed her chubby face in his palm. She said sweetly, “What do you need a talisman like that for? I’m your daughter, aren’t I?”
This little rascal–no wonder she was a charmer. She knew just how to make people happy.
In an instant, all of Ye Lingfeng’s displeasure vanished.
He pinched Zhouzhou’s chubby cheeks, smiling as he asked, “How’s business?”
Zhouzhou nodded vigorously. “Great, really great!”
Then she suddenly gasped. “Oh no, I forgot to finish the talisman!”
She quickly jumped off his leg, grabbed her cinnabar pen, and got back to work.
“The talisman is done,” she said as she handed it to the customer.
After wiping the sweat from her brow, Zhouzhou scooted over to make space and pulled out a small stool. She waved Ye Lingfeng over. “Daddy, sit here!”
Ye Lingfeng didn’t mind and sat down. Though he was tall and handsome, even while sitting on a tiny stool with his legs folded awkwardly, he still managed to give off a regal air, turning heads in the crowded market.
Zhouzhou noticed this and immediately drew a “bystander talisman,” slapping it on him. She looked warily at the nearby women passing by.
Seeing that no one was sneakily glancing at Ye Lingfeng anymore, she finally breathed a sigh of relief.
She turned to him, pouting in complaint. “Daddy, you attract too much attention!”
Before she could finish, a light flick to her forehead stopped her.
“Nonsense,” Ye Lingfeng chided, glancing at her.
Well, you’re close enough. Zhouzhou rubbed her forehead, pouting unhappily.
Seeing this, Ye Lingfeng pinched her cheek and reassured her, “Alright, alright. People may look, but they won’t do anything. If anyone tries, I wouldn’t pay them any mind. I belong to you and your mom.”
Upon hearing this, Zhouzhou’s mood instantly lifted.
Then, a thought popped into her head. She leaned on his knee and curiously asked, “Daddy, will you ever find another lady to be with?”
“Never.” Ye Lingfeng didn’t hesitate. “I only need your mom.”
Even though An Ya was gone, she would always be his wife.
And always would be.
“My only job now is to take care of you and make sure you grow up well.”
Then he added with a smirk, “But your other ‘good dad’ might just bring someone else home one day.”
Zhouzhou: “!”
