Chapter 851: He Wasn’t a Bad Person
“Okay,” Zhouzhou nodded her little head and followed Qin Lie a few steps. As they reached the door, she turned back uneasily and reminded him, “Principal Uncle, you must remember to tell me, okay?”
“Alright, alright,” the principal repeatedly nodded and quickly signaled to a nearby teacher. Watching her take Zhouzhou away, he finally breathed a sigh of relief and wiped the sweat off his forehead.
Oh no, why did it feel like a new nightmare was about to start? But for other schools, it was also a nightmare. After all, who didn’t want a student who won awards left and right? Just think of the glory it would bring.
Clearly, Qin Er had once been that kind of student. But whether Zhouzhou could replicate her brother Dafu’s path was still uncertain. The thought of it made the principal somewhat excited.
On the first day of school, parents were also allowed to attend the opening ceremony. Grandpa Qin had a camera hanging around his neck, occasionally snapping pictures of the children, looking completely at ease.
At that moment, a surprised voice called out, “Old Mr. Qin?”
A person approached Grandpa Qin, their eyes filled with excitement. “It really is you! I thought I was mistaken.”
As he spoke, he extended his hand. Grandpa Qin turned to look, and the smile on his face instantly vanished, replaced by a polite yet distant expression. He slightly nodded, greeted him briefly, and shifted his gaze away, clearly not wanting to say more.
But the man didn’t leave. Following his gaze, he immediately said, “This must be Old Mr. Qin’s grandchildren, they’re so cute. Especially this little girl; you won’t find anyone cuter in the whole school.”
It was known that the Qin family adored the little girl they had adopted, so praising her was sure to please them. Indeed, Grandpa Qin’s mood brightened considerably.
Seeing this, the man became even more enthusiastic, continuing to praise Zhouzhou, which caused Grandma Qin to turn her head, her brow slightly furrowed.
They were, of course, happy to hear praise for Zhouzhou, but it felt a bit exaggerated, and it came off as somewhat insincere. She didn’t like it.
She thought it was strange that her husband had been retired for several years now; if he wanted something done, shouldn’t he be seeking out Qin Lie instead? What good was it to curry favor with him?
Grandpa Qin had been in the business world for decades and could easily see through his motives. Immediately, the smile on Grandpa Qin’s face faded, and he grew disinterested. “Do you need something?” he asked, his tone already quite cold.
The man was not embarrassed; he continued to smile ingratiatingly, “It’s like this: I had a misunderstanding with Old Mr. Lan, and I want to solve it, but his family refuses to see me.”
“I heard you and Old Mr. Lan are friends. Could I trouble you to help me out? You don’t need to do anything; just let us meet.”
Saying this, he discreetly offered a bank card, attempting to hand it to Grandpa Qin.
Grandpa Qin felt both amused and angry, taking a step back and letting the card fall to the ground. The last vestige of polite smile vanished from his face, and his expression turned icy. “Sorry, I can’t help you.”
Qin Lie, watching from the side, frowned tightly.
Sending money to the Qin family was rather amusing. It felt like sending money to a printing factory. What was this guy thinking?
Unfortunately, the Qin family had an oddball. Zhouzhou had been playing with Huo Ji’an and the others, but she quickly noticed the bank card on the ground and her eyes lit up. She ran over and picked it up.
“Grandpa, you’ve dropped your card!” She exclaimed, as money should never be discarded.
Seeing his granddaughter, Grandpa Qin’s expression softened, and he shook his head. “It’s not mine; it’s his.” He pointed at the man across from him.
“Oh.” Zhouzhou thought it was her grandpa’s card. Her little head drooped as she handed it to the man.
But the man stepped back, pleading, “Old Mr. Qin, please help me! I’m just a pharmaceutical agent, and the Lan family is about to sue me. I have no choice but to come to you for help.”
“I swear, my medicine is completely fine! Here’s the inspection report; Old Mr. Lan’s coma has nothing to do with me!”
He looked utterly desperate. If he hadn’t been at his wit’s end, he wouldn’t have approached someone like this. But for his family, he had no other option.
Upon hearing this, Grandpa Qin’s eyes turned sharp. “What happened to Old Lan?”
“You haven’t heard?” the pharmaceutical agent replied, looking surprised.
Grandpa Qin shot him a cold glance. Of course, if he knew, he wouldn’t need to ask!

His gaze became fierce, and the aura of an authority figure loomed over the man as he said in a deep voice, “Speak.”
The pharmaceutical agent couldn’t withstand the pressure, gulped nervously, and hurriedly explained the situation.
“Old Mr. Lan was hospitalized due to health issues recently. He needed a specific medication that isn’t available domestically, so I contacted a friend to help get it.”
As he spoke, a bitter smile appeared on his face.
Originally, he thought he could make some money while also establishing a connection with the Lan family to gain benefits. But in the end, he neither gained any benefits nor was able to avoid getting himself into trouble.
“After Old Mr. Lan took the medication I provided, he suddenly fell into a coma, and no one could figure out the cause. The Lan family said there was definitely something wrong with my medicine and plans to sue me.”
“I swear, if there was something wrong with the medicine, let me die a horrible death!” He raised three fingers, looking serious as he said this.
Grandpa Qin glanced at him but did not comment on the matter.
Suddenly, he felt a tug on his clothing. Looking down, he met Zhouzhou’s gaze as she opened her mouth, seeming to have something to say.
“What’s wrong?” Grandpa Qin pinched her little face and asked.
“Grandpa, this uncle isn’t lying,” she said.
From his appearance, she could tell he was a bit greedy, but he didn’t seem like a bad person.
Hearing this, the pharmaceutical agent’s eyes brightened, looking at her with excitement. “Miss Qin believes me too?”
He then looked eagerly at Grandpa Qin.
Everyone said he adored his granddaughter the most; surely this would lead to a breakthrough, right?
Feeling anxious, he hoped for the best.
After a moment of thought, Grandpa Qin finally nodded. “Alright, I’ll talk to them, but I can’t guarantee they’ll agree to see you.”
“Alright, alright,” the pharmaceutical agent repeatedly nodded, overly excited. “Thank you! Just your willingness to speak on my behalf is a tremendous help.”
Grandpa Qin said nothing further and made a phone call.
He called Old Mr. Lan’s eldest son, who was in his thirties and quite decent.
To his surprise, the voice on the other end was very young. “Hello?”
Hearing that voice, Zhouzhou blinked and scratched her head in confusion.
This voice sounded somewhat familiar.
