Chapter 874: Rescue
After closing her stall for the night, Zhouzhou was happily eating a midnight snack. Just as she jumped down from her chair, the bowl suddenly slipped from her hands and crashed to the floor.
Zhouzhou froze for a moment, instinctively crouching down to pick it up, but her finger got cut on the sharp edge, and blood immediately oozed out.
Seeing this, Qin Lie rushed over, scooping his little girl into his arms. “What happened? Let Daddy see your finger!” he said, reaching for her hand, but Zhouzhou surprisingly dodged him.
He was taken aback and looked up to see Zhouzhou’s chubby little fingers moving rapidly. The next moment, tears streamed down her face, panic written all over her small features.
“Da..Daddy’s in trouble!” she exclaimed.
Hearing this, Qin Lie quickly snapped back to reality, understanding who she was referring to. “Something happened to Ye Lingfeng?”
“Yes!” Zhouzhou nodded vigorously.
She sensed that her Sharp Tongue Daddy was in grave danger. The fact that this accident had occurred meant that Heaven wouldn’t send her such a warning unless things were dire. Zhouzhou wouldn’t have dropped her bowl otherwise. Master had always said she could carry her bowl steadily since she was a baby, finishing every last bit of food.
Indeed, her Sharp Tongue Daddy was in trouble, and it was unprecedentedly serious.
Just then, Zhouzhou’s watch started ringing urgently. Seeing the name on the screen made her heart skip a beat as she quickly answered, “Hello?”
“Zhouzhou!” Chen Tuo’s voice came through. “The boss is hurt! We’re on our way to the Air Force Hospital right now. Hurry up and come!”
At those words, Zhouzhou’s face turned pale, her mind going blank.
Qin Lie overheard and immediately carried Zhouzhou out of the house, rushing towards the car. Moments later, they sped away from the Qin residence, heading straight for the hospital. He didn’t even hang up the call.
As Zhouzhou began to regain her senses, she held her watch tightly, asking questions every so often. Hearing the panic in her voice, Chen Tuo felt a pang of sympathy but knew he had to relay the details so she could assist as soon as she arrived.
“We were on a mission in the tropical rainforest when the boss got bitten by a snake. He’s taken the medicine, but we were busy pursuing the enemy, so he exerted himself too much. It seems there are still some toxins left, which is why he’s unconscious now.”
Every word tore at Zhouzhou’s heart, and tears flowed freely down her cheeks. By the time they reached the hospital, she had already become a crying mess.
Just two minutes prior, Ye Lingfeng and his team had arrived at the hospital. As soon as the vehicle came to a halt, Zhouzhou leaped out and ran inside, her short legs moving as fast as they could.
Qin Lie glanced at her, saying nothing, and quickly parked the car before hurrying toward the emergency room. However, as soon as they arrived at the entrance, they were stopped.
“Sorry, no unauthorized personnel are allowed inside,” a soldier on duty said.
“Let him in,” Chen Tuo called out as he hurried over.
Seeing Chen Tuo, the soldier didn’t argue further, saluting him and allowing Qin Lie to enter.
As they moved through the hospital, Chen Tuo explained, “Mr. Qin, don’t mind Zhouzhou. She didn’t mean to leave you behind. It was her idea for me to come and get you.”
Qin Lie nodded, not bothered by it. Although he often liked to feel jealous of Ye Lingfeng, this was not the time for such feelings. With Ye Lingfeng’s life hanging in the balance, he couldn’t hold a grudge against Zhouzhou for running ahead.
“No need to say more; let’s go,” he urged.
“Right,” Chen Tuo agreed, aware that the current situation was serious.
Before long, they arrived at the emergency room, the red letters “Surgery in Progress” glaring at them.
Wan Leng and the others stood nearby, their bodies covered in injuries, but not one of them tended to their wounds. They stood there, staring intently at the surgery room, their expressions grave.
Inside, the doctors were already informed that Zhouzhou was coming. Chen Tuo had briefed them on her abilities, so they wasted no time in clearing the area for her.
Zhouzhou took Ye Lingfeng’s pulse, and instantly understood why he was unconscious. The poison was affecting his heart, and he had also suffered a gunshot wound to a major artery, causing blood to flow uncontrollably. He lay there, pale and covered in blood, his face serene.
Zhouzhou’s nose tinged with bitterness, almost making her cry again. Taking a deep breath, she fought back her tears; this was not the time for crying.

Zhouzhou clenched her fists, wiped away her tears, and pulled out her acupuncture kit to get to work.
“Doctor, please remove the bullet from my dad’s wound. I’ll handle the snake venom,” Zhouzhou instructed immediately.
Their teamwork would speed things up, as treating the wound was more within the expertise of Western medicine.
“Okay,” the doctor nodded, not questioning her.
Zhouzhou swiftly used her golden needles to seal Ye Lingfeng’s acupoints. As time ticked away, beads of sweat began to form on her forehead.
Zhouzhou had never been this anxious before. She was terrified her father would leave her. She hadn’t yet gotten the chance to support him in his old age; he couldn’t go first!
No, it had to follow the order of things!
Zhouzhou focused intently on the golden needles, her spiritual energy flowing from her fingertips into his body. Her remaining Merits Light was dwindling fast.
Ancestral Master appeared, observing the scene, biting his lip in frustration. He pinched off a tiny amount of golden light and sent it to Ye Lingfeng, turning to Zhouzhou with a grim face. “You owe me double when he wakes up!”
“I’ll pay you back tenfold!” Zhouzhou promised gratefully.
Hearing this, Ancestral Master’s eyes brightened, and he generously gave her two more pinches of golden light.
Finally, Ye Lingfeng’s heartbeat stabilized on the monitor.
Zhouzhou let out a sigh of relief and removed the golden needles.
Just then, the doctor finished treating his wounds. After checking everything once more and confirming he was stable, they wheeled him out.
As soon as the door opened, Chen Tuo and the others rushed over, their faces full of concern. “How is it?”
“He’s okay now,” Zhouzhou said, her voice shaky, tears streaming down her cheeks once again.
The adults were scared out of their wits, let alone Zhouzhou, the child.
Chen Tuo wanted to comfort her with a hug but wasn’t sure how to console her. He turned to Qin Lie instead.
Qin Lie stepped forward, gently ruffling Zhouzhou’s hair. “Stay with him for a while.”
“Okay!” Zhouzhou nodded vigorously, her short legs moving to stand by Ye Lingfeng’s side.
As they moved him to a different bed, she stretched up on her tiptoes, doing her best, which even made the doctors’ hearts soften.
Not long after, they finished tidying up and quickly left.
Zhouzhou sat beside him, her eyes fixed on his face, not blinking.
Meanwhile, outside the window, Chen Tuo sighed heavily, grinding his teeth. “That Garen is too cunning!”
Garen was the target they had been pursuing this time. Now that their boss was injured, he had escaped, which only fueled their anger.
Just as they were discussing, a small head suddenly poked out from the surgery room.
Zhouzhou’s eyes were dark and devoid of their usual brightness. She stared intensely at Chen Tuo and asked, “Who is Garen?”
