Chapter 877: Off to the Skies
Upon hearing the familiar voice, Lan Tian froze for a moment, then looked down and saw… a messy bird’s nest of hair? He pushed aside the unruly strands and was met with a chubby little face. Surprised, he asked, “Zhouzhou?”
“Yeah, it’s me.” Zhouzhou nodded vigorously and grabbed his hand, pulling him out, “Brother, do you have time?”
Lan Tian nodded, “I do.”
His father had fallen ill, and this time the old man had nearly died. Lan Tian couldn’t leave his side, so he took a leave of absence. He hadn’t taken much time off over the years, so his boss gave him all his accumulated vacation, telling him to rest well.
“What’s up?” he asked.
Zhouzhou grinned and glanced around before beckoning him closer. She leaned into his ear and whispered, “Brother, want to do something exciting?”
Exciting? Lan Tian immediately perked up.
The past few days spent in the hospital room with his dad had been nothing but dull conversations and bland food. He was bored out of his mind.
Without hesitation, knowing Zhouzhou wouldn’t drag him into anything dangerous, he said, “I’m in!”
Hearing this, Zhouzhou gave him a thumbs-up, “I knew from the first time I met you that we’d hit it off!”
Lan Tian raised an eyebrow, fully aware she was buttering him up, but still, he couldn’t help but feel pleased. He ruffled her hair and smiled, “Let’s go.”
“Yeah!” Zhouzhou immediately grabbed his hand and started walking.
They took back alleys, moving with a sense of secrecy. Lan Tian glanced back toward Ye Lingfeng’s room in the hospital, his mind working through the situation.
This was no ordinary hospital, with high security and few outsiders allowed. New arrivals were always talked about, and he’d heard in passing that Ye Lingfeng had been injured and was still unconscious. Zhouzhou’s presence only confirmed it.
But where was she taking him?
The soldiers on duty were familiar with them, so the two left without any trouble, walking out boldly. After they got a kilometer away from the hospital, Zhouzhou finally looked back, relieved to see no one following them.
Looks like Master’s knockout drug worked well. It should keep her dad out for two days–just enough time for her to return as if nothing had happened. Perfect.
Oh, she should’ve skipped leaving that note. Now there was evidence! Zhouzhou mentally kicked herself, forgetting that Chen Tuo and the others were still awake. Even if they had all been knocked out, there’d still be the issue of time. Two missing days wouldn’t go unnoticed.
Lan Tian, noticing the expression flitting across her face, crossed his arms and asked, “Are you planning to get revenge for your dad?”
Zhouzhou’s breathing hitched. She looked up at him nervously, “Would you still go with me?”
She’d done her research on Garen–he was abroad, deep in a rainforest. She couldn’t get there on her own. The only person she knew who could fly a plane was Lan Tian. If he didn’t agree, her plan was doomed.
Lan Tian scratched his chin. “If we’re not on a mission, me taking you would be an unsanctioned action. I’d be punished.”
Hearing this, Zhouzhou’s expression dimmed, and she touched her own head. She would also be punished. Not only that, but she’d face a serious scolding.
She had sworn she wouldn’t go, yet here she was, breaking her word. But avenging her dad was worth it–she didn’t regret it.
Still, her brother didn’t need to be dragged into this.
Making up her mind, Zhouzhou said, “Then, Brother, you can go back. Can you at least keep this a secret for me?”
“Nope.” Lan Tian shook his head. Seeing Zhouzhou’s face twist in panic, on the verge of tears, he finally stopped teasing her. He patted her messy hair and said, “Because I’m coming with you. No point in trying to keep it a secret–when we get back, we’ll face the consequences together.”
Zhouzhou blinked in surprise, then broke into a grin, “Brother, you’re coming with me?”
“Of course,” Lan Tian said, grabbing her hand and continuing to walk. “And by the way, I’m the reigning champ in getting locked up for punishment. No one’s spent more time in the ‘timeout room’ than me.”
With his flying style, he certainly wasn’t a rule-follower.

Zhouzhou’s eyes lit up with excitement, and she almost jumped for joy.
“I’ve been to the ‘timeout room’ too,” she bragged.
“I love it in there–the sleep is amazing! I can sleep for a whole day and night!”
Well, what a coincidence. He thought the same–sleeping there was the most peaceful.
The two of them made their way to the airfield and soon took off in a plane.
Sitting in the co-pilot seat, Zhouzhou looked out the window in awe, “Wow, this view is incredible!”
Before, she’d always sat in the back and only peeked out the window, but now, with the full view in front of her, it was breathtaking.
Lan Tian nodded. “Yeah, the sky’s amazing. Hold on tight.”
With that, he suddenly pulled up, increasing their altitude and speeding up.
Zhouzhou grabbed onto her seatbelt, her face full of excitement. “Brother, faster!”
It was the first time someone had asked him to fly faster–usually, it was always “slow down.” Lan Tian felt like he’d found a kindred spirit. Feeling great, he increased the speed further, “You got it.”
While the little chubby girl was having the time of her life, her father was fuming.
The next morning, Qin Lie abruptly woke up and immediately checked beside him. As expected, it was empty. His face darkened instantly.
Hearing movement, Chen Tuo walked in. Not seeing Zhouzhou, he asked, “Where’s Zhouzhou?”
“She ran away,” Qin Lie growled through gritted teeth, rage boiling. He was ready to give the little chubby girl a good scolding.
Her guts were getting too big!
“What?” Chen Tuo was startled, then suddenly thought of something. His eyes widened, “Zhouzhou isn’t really going after Garen, is she?”
“She can’t–Garen’s in the rainforest, and Zhouzhou can’t fly a plane. She couldn’t have gotten there on her own.”
A plane?
As a thought crossed his mind, Qin Lie threw off the blanket and strode out of the room.
Seeing this, Chen Tuo quickly followed, “Mr. Qin, where are you going?”
Qin Lie didn’t answer, heading straight to Old Mr. Lan’s hospital room.
Lan He happened to be there. Seeing Qin Lie walk in, he was surprised. “A’Lie?”
Without wasting time on pleasantries, Qin Lie looked around the room and asked urgently, “Where’s Lan Tian?”
“You’re looking for Tian?” Lan He was puzzled. These two didn’t usually interact much. Noticing Qin Lie’s urgency, he added, “When I came in this morning, Tian was already gone. He’s always busy with work, disappearing like that. We’re used to it.”
However, Qin Lie sensed something was wrong.
Chen Tuo’s eyes widened as he blurted out, “Zhouzhou didn’t leave with him, did she?”
