Chapter 879: The Game Begins
With Zhouzhou’s special ointment, she and Lan Tian moved effortlessly through the rainforest, eventually locating Garen’s group. They stopped a hundred meters away, perched on a tree, observing the scene below.
Lan Tian glanced over and whispered, “There are ten of them. It’s not a large group, but the issue is, they’re dealing in smuggled arms. Those boxes are definitely packed with explosives. If they go all out and blow them up, we won’t escape either.”
The explosives could easily wipe out half the rainforest. They couldn’t stray too far either, as it would take them out of shooting range.
Recalling the power of explosives from a previous experience at Goldbar’s place, Zhouzhou rubbed her small bag and whispered, “Ancestral Master, can you protect us?”
The Ancestral Master gave a quick glance before shaking his head. “No way. That kind of blast would consume all my merits. Plus…”
“If those explosives ignite, the forest will burn, and lightning from the heavens will strike you down.”
The current state of the world was already dire, with a shortage of spiritual energy. Losing such a large portion of the rainforest would have a huge impact. This was a serious offense. Regardless of the reason, if Zhouzhou was responsible for the outcome, she would have to bear the consequences. After all, it affected all of humanity.
Hearing this, Zhouzhou shrank her neck in fear. She already owed Heavenly Thunder a lightning strike; another one would surely send her to reincarnation.
No, no, Heavenly Thunder is not even a human and couldn’t trade her head for money—it’s too much of a loss. She can’t die.
The little girl had been thinking deeply, and suddenly, her eyes lit up. “What if I take them all down instead?”
She was speaking to Lan Tian.
Lan Tian wasn’t sure who she had been mumbling to earlier, but now wasn’t the time to ask.
He pondered her suggestion for a moment before nodding. “It’s possible, but they mustn’t catch on. If they sense something’s wrong, they could still self-destruct.”
Zhouzhou wasn’t worried at all. Patting her chest with confidence, she said, “Watch me.”
With that, she jumped from the tree. Despite her chubby frame, she landed as silently as a cat. A very agile little one indeed.
Next, Lan Tian watched in shock as Zhouzhou pulled a talisman from her bag, slapped it on her body, and disappeared. Only the faint movement of pressed grass revealed her path.
Seeing this, Lan Tian couldn’t help but widen his eyes in astonishment.
This thing is impressive!
When they get back, he’ll have to ask her for a few to play with.
His mind racing with thoughts, his actions remained steady, gun in hand, his gaze fixed on the movements ahead.
Should Zhouzhou falter, he would rush to her aid without hesitation.
She was his responsibility, and he would ensure her safe return.
With the invisibility talisman activated, Zhouzhou boldly approached Garen’s group. They were chattering away, speaking English. She only understood a few words but caught the mention of “Ye,” which likely referred to her father.
Seeing their smug expressions, Zhouzhou felt a surge of anger.
Suddenly, Garen’s sharp eyes turned toward her. His fierce gaze swept over the area. “Who’s there?”
He sensed her! Zhouzhou immediately held her breath, calming her presence and standing completely still.
Lan Tian’s finger hovered over the trigger, ready for action.
Garen’s men looked around in confusion. “Boss, what’s wrong?”
“I smell bloodlust,” Garen growled, his eyes narrowing.
Over the years, many had tried to take his life, so he was highly attuned to murderous intent. He had detected a faint hint of it just now.

His men exchanged bewildered glances. “Boss, you’re overthinking it. There’s no one here but us. Those Chinese guys ran off with their tails between their legs. Who else would dare enter the rainforest?”
True. Garen’s gaze returned to the group, but Zhouzhou knew he wasn’t entirely convinced.
This big bad guy thought he could act tough around her? He was way out of his league!
Without hesitation, Zhouzhou moved behind one of Garen’s lackeys and quietly slapped a puppet talisman on him. Controlling the man’s hand, she raised his gun and aimed it at Garen.
Garen, reacting instantly, drew his own gun and fired. His shot struck his lackey squarely in the forehead, killing him instantly.
The man dropped to the ground before he could even cry out, “I was framed!”
“Boss!” The other men stared in shock at what had just transpired.
Garen’s face twisted in displeasure. “Didn’t you see? He was about to shoot me!”
He looked around at his men. “I’ve suspected for a while now that there’s a traitor among us. Looks like it was him.”
Though Garen’s words were harsh, his men exchanged doubtful glances. The man who had just died had been with the group for a long time. Could there really be a traitor?
And if Garen was accusing him, did that mean he suspected the rest of them too?
Fear crept over them, and though no one spoke, the tension was palpable.
Zhouzhou, though young and not fluent in English, could read their expressions well enough. It seemed they weren’t as united as they appeared.
Good. That made things easier.
Initially, Zhouzhou had planned to knock them out with her knockout powder. But now, she saw an even better opportunity: let them turn on each other!
She stroked her small statue and signaled to the Ancestral Master to protect the crates. If things got heated and they started shooting, as long as the explosives were protected, everything would be fine.
The Ancestral Master, catching on, gave Zhouzhou a thumbs up. Smart girl!
Zhouzhou felt a swell of pride. Of course! Her Sharp Tongue Daddy always said, when dealing with bad guys, it’s not just about brute force, but also wits. Dad also said that people who use their brains always make more money than those who rely on strength alone.
And Zhouzhou was destined to be a little rich lady, so her brain worked really well!
Smiling mischievously, she scanned the group of bad guys. Her soft, chubby face dimpled with innocent-looking dimples as she grinned.
The game had begun.
