Chapter 884: Making Up with Dad
“Chubby Girl, what’s wrong?”
After class, Huo Ji’an approached Zhouzhou with concern in his eyes.
Zhouzhou was usually attentive in class, but today, she had spaced out several times and got called out by the teacher. When asked to answer questions, she couldn’t, despite them being simple ones that even Huo Ji’an could solve. She had been acting strangely all day.
Zhouzhou shook her head, slumped over her desk, not wanting to talk.
Seeing this, Huo Ji’an grew even more worried. He turned to Qin Feng and the others, asking, “Do you know what’s wrong with Chubby Girl?”
Qin Feng shook his head; he didn’t know either. Zhouzhou hadn’t been home for the past few days. However… his little uncle had returned yesterday.
Though nothing seemed amiss on the surface, he had an unsettling feeling that something was wrong.
When he shared this thought, Qin Nan and Qin Bei nodded in agreement.
Qin Bei added, “Little Uncle can be pretty scary. Yesterday, I just asked where Zhouzhou was since she hadn’t come back, and he gave me such a harsh look.”
He shuddered at the memory.
Though Qin Lie hadn’t actually glared at him, his cold, indifferent demeanor was enough to send chills down his spine. Yesterday, their house felt even colder than outside.
Zhouzhou, who had been silently listening in since they mentioned her dad, couldn’t hold back any longer. She asked hesitantly, “Did Dad mention me at all yesterday?”
Qin Bei thought for a moment and then shook his head. “No, he didn’t.”
Hearing that, Zhouzhou’s expression darkened.
Seeing her reaction, Qin Feng sensed something was wrong. He asked cautiously, “Zhouzhou, did you and Little Uncle have a fight?”
Zhouzhou’s lips trembled, her eyes reddening, and before long, she buried her face in her arms on the desk, muffling her sobs.
After a while, her tearful voice came through, “I messed up. Dad is really mad at me.”
“Really?” Qin Bei was confused. “But Little Uncle loves you the most. Why would he be mad at you? What did you do?”
Qin Bei, now visibly anxious, added, “What did you two fight about? Tell me!”
Qin Nan gave Qin Bei a helpless look. Couldn’t he see that Zhouzhou was upset? He sighed internally–how was it possible to be twins with such a clueless person?
Zhouzhou didn’t respond.
After a while, Qin Bei noticed her shoulders trembling and pulled her up. As soon as he did, he froze.
Zhouzhou’s face was covered in tears, and she was crying silently, almost gasping for air.
Normally, when she cried, it was loud and dramatic, but this time, the quiet sobbing caught them all off guard.
Realizing how serious it was, Qin Feng and the others fell silent, understanding that she and Little Uncle must have had a serious argument.
Huo Ji’an, now panicked, pulled out tissues to wipe her tears, saying, “Chubby Girl, what’s wrong? Please tell us. We can help you!”
Zhouzhou shook her head. “No, I can’t say.”
Anything related to the mission was off-limits. She could only share what was safe.
“I gave Dad some knockout drugs and made him pass out. Then I went against his wishes, which hurt him.”
“Wait, what? You gave Little Uncle knockout drugs? Were you trying to hurt him?” Qin Bei was dumbfounded.

“Of course not!” Zhouzhou’s voice rose defensively. Then she drooped her head again. “I… I needed to go somewhere, but Dad wouldn’t let me.”
At this, Huo Ji’an remembered something. “Is this why your dad came to class with you that day?”
Zhouzhou nodded, looking at him with big, hopeful eyes. “Do you guys know any way to make Dad forgive me and stop being mad?”
Making up with Little Uncle?
Qin Bei shook his head vigorously. That was always Zhouzhou’s domain; he had no clue.
Qin Nan scratched his chin thoughtfully. “How about we stage a fake kidnapping, Zhouzhou? If Little Uncle sees you in trouble, he’ll stop being mad!”
Zhouzhou shook her head. “No, I can’t. Dad’s already mad; I can’t trick him again.”
True enough, with Little Uncle’s personality, finding out he’d been deceived would only make things worse.
Qin Nan sighed. “Then I’m out of ideas.”
He was only good at acting, but acting meant deception, and that was out of the question.
Zhouzhou then turned her gaze to Qin Feng.
After thinking for a bit, he suggested, “How about you give Little Uncle a gift? Something he likes?”
Something Dad likes…
Zhouzhou’s eyes lit up. She knew exactly what her dad liked!
Finally, she stopped crying and looked at Huo Ji’an. “Little Skinny Pole, do you have Uncle Sweetie’s number?”
Since the New Year, the bodyguard had stopped attending Huo Ji’an’s classes and had been working with Huo Mingxuan instead, advising him on what Huo Ji’an liked or disliked.
Thankfully, with Uncle Sweetie’s help and Yu Ze’s mediation, the father-son relationship had improved significantly.
Huo Ji’an nodded. “Yeah, do you need him? I can call him over.”
“Yes, please! Thanks, Skinny Pole.”
Huo Ji’an waved off the thanks. “No need to thank me; we’re friends, right?”
With a plan in place, Zhouzhou finally stopped crying and even giggled through a bubble of snot.
Qin Feng chuckled as he carefully wiped her face with a wet tissue, hoping that Zhouzhou and Little Uncle would reconcile soon. They were meant to love each other, not fight.
Now with hope, Zhouzhou focused on the rest of her classes.
As soon as school ended, she darted outside, scanning the crowd of parents. But her dad was nowhere to be seen.
Her face fell.
Chen Tuo came up to her, smiling. “Zhouzhou, I’m here to pick you up today. Happy?”
Zhouzhou barely mustered a smile before her face drooped again, looking listless.
Chen Tuo sighed. “Let’s go.”
But Zhouzhou shook her head. “Stinky Brother, I’ve got something to do. You can go home.”
With that, Zhouzhou spotted Uncle Sweetie, ran up to him, and hopped into his car after a brief conversation.
Chen Tuo, unsure of what was going on, followed them out of concern and saw them arrive at a mall.
Staring at the candy on the counter, Zhouzhou asked, “Uncle Sweetie, are you sure Dad will like this?”
“Of course! Didn’t you say your dad loves sweets?”
Zhouzhou nodded. That was how she had made up with her dad the first time she upset him–by giving him candy.
Hopefully, this time it would work too.
With renewed determination, Zhouzhou turned to the clerk. “Sister, wrap up all these candies for me, please!”
“I want the sweetest ones. The sweeter, the better!”
