Chapter 91: CEO Qin’s Stubbornness
Qin Lie’s face slightly changed, and without saying a word, he walked out quickly. Zhouzhou hurriedly followed him.
When they reached outside, they were stunned. They saw Qin Yan lying on the ground with his legs up in the air. His handsome face contorted, and as he realized something, he looked up and directly met Qin Lie’s face. He immediately stiffened, quickly got up, stood straight, and his expression became tense.
In the instant he stood up, Qin Lie’s face also became stiff. It was as if he wasn’t the one who had rushed over upon hearing the commotion just now. The two of them stood tall, one trying to outdo the other, as if afraid that their relationship had reconciled.
Zhouzhou observed their changing expressions and couldn’t help but shake her head. Seeing that Qin Lie wasn’t speaking, she could only help him by asking, “Third Elder Uncle, are you okay?”
“I’m fine,” Qin Yan said stubbornly, “It feels great not to eat someone else’s leftovers. Stubbornness.”
He implied something.
Qin Lie twitched the corner of his mouth and let out a soft “hm,” “Indeed, quite stubborn. Hurry up and go to the hospital for a check-up so that nothing happens later and it gets blamed on Zhouzhou.”
Although it was a caring statement, it sounded piercing coming from his mouth.
Zhouzhou touched her smooth forehead and frowned, feeling a bit distressed. Oh no, here we go again. She quickly blinked at Xiao Lan.
Xiao Lan understood and immediately stepped forward to support Qin Yan. “Let’s go. I also need to get a check-up.”
Qin Yan’s waist was in severe pain at the moment, but he was still forcibly holding himself up. Upon hearing Xiao Lan’s words, he immediately walked down the steps, “Alright, I’ll accompany you.”
After saying that, he supported himself with Xiao Lan and walked away. Each step was agonizingly painful, and soon sweat started to bead on his forehead. However, he refused to bow down in front of Qin Lie, gritting his teeth and enduring.
But Qin Lie wasn’t a fool. Seeing his rigid steps, he guessed something and took a half-step forward before stopping. His expression was tense, his thin lips pressed together, and he appeared indifferent, as if he didn’t care at all.
Watching him like this, Zhouzhou’s eyes rolled and she clutched her stomach, “Ouch, Dad, my stomach hurts. Take me to the hospital, I can’t take it anymore.”
As she spoke, she fell to the ground while hugging his leg, but her bottom remained on his foot, finding the ground too cold.
It was obvious that she was pretending.
However, Qin Lie lightly coughed and bent down to pick her up. “I’ve told you not to run too fast after eating, it’ll make you uncomfortable.”
Right, right, right.
Yes, yes, yes.
You’re right about everything.
Zhouzhou looked at him with a smile in her narrowed eyes, an inexplicable indulgence in her gaze. She seemed to be saying that everything he said was fine. Qin Lie felt a little awkward, as if the little girl had seen through all his thoughts.
They arrived at the entrance of the hospital, and Zhouzhou touched her stomach, continuing her act, “Oh, the pain suddenly disappeared. How miraculous.”
After speaking, she innocently added, “Dad, since we’re here, let’s go see how Third Elder Uncle is doing. This way, when Grandpa and Grandma ask, we’ll have something to say.”
She had even prepared a reason for him, so considerate.
Qin Lie silently glanced at her, pursed his lips, and walked forward.
Qin Yan took the VIP channel, and the test results came out quickly. Zhouzhou held his hand and walked to the ward, but Qin Lie didn’t go in. Zhouzhou didn’t force him and went inside herself. After inquiring about the situation, she came out and relayed it to him.
“The doctor said Third Elder Uncle has a fractured coccyx and needs to rest in bed for a while.”
In the hospital corridor, Zhouzhou rested her chubby hand on Qin Lie’s knee and said.
Qin Lie listened silently, then fell silent for a moment before saying, “Why are you telling me this? What does it have to do with me?”
Zhouzhou smiled and nodded, her eyes clear and somewhat indulgent. She took the blame for herself and said, “It’s what I wanted to say. Dad didn’t ask.”

The little girl’s eyes were clear, yet there was a hint of indulgence. Qin Lie knew that she actually understood everything. Zhouzhou wasn’t naive.
He felt a little embarrassed for a moment.
Zhouzhou asked, “Dad, do you have anything you want me to tell Third Elder Uncle?”
“What’s there to say to him?” Qin Lie scoffed, stood up, and said, “At his age, he can’t even take care of himself properly and ends up falling while walking. And he still wants to go to the deep mountains and forests to shoot a film? Hasn’t he had enough of previous losses?”
As he spoke, Qin Lie’s face turned cold, “I’m leaving, there are still matters at the company.”
“Dad, I have something to do at the hospital this afternoon. I need to go and check on the patient we rescued from the traffickers,” Zhouzhou quickly said.
Qin Lie nodded, “Alright, you go ahead. Call me when you’re done, and I’ll come to pick you up.”
“Okay.”
After seeing him off, Zhouzhou hurriedly ran to Qin Yan’s ward.
Qin Yan was lying in bed at the moment. When he heard footsteps, he immediately turned his head and saw only Zhouzhou. He peered behind her, but didn’t see anyone, and the anticipation in his eyes dimmed.
He casually asked, “Why hasn’t Zhouzhou gone back?”
“Dad has urgent matters at the company, so he left first. He asked me to take care of Third Elder Uncle and told me to call him immediately if anything happens,” Zhouzhou replied.
Upon hearing her words, Qin Yan’s lips curved up for a moment, but he quickly suppressed it and let out a soft snort, “Is he really so concerned? He must be eager to come and laugh at me.”
“How could that be? Dad is genuinely worried about Third Elder Uncle. He may not say it, but he shows it through his actions. He knows that I have some medical skills, so he specifically asked me to stay and take care of Third Elder Uncle,” Zhouzhou explained.
“What can a little girl like you take care of me for?” Qin Yan chuckled lightly, and his mood seemed much better than before.
Seeing his reaction, Zhouzhou also felt relieved and wiped the sweat off her forehead.
What would they do without her in this family? She shook her head with an air of seniority, looking somewhat comical, which made Qin Yan unable to hold back his laughter.
After receiving painkillers, Qin Yan started to feel drowsy not long after and fell asleep in a daze.
Only then did Zhouzhou turn to Xiao Lan and whispered, “Third Elder Aunt, can we go out for a chat?”
Xiao Lan glanced at the sleeping Qin Yan, nodded, and walked out with her.
The two of them walked to the garden downstairs. There weren’t many people there at the moment. Zhouzhou found a chair and pulled Xiao Lan to sit down. She swung her chubby legs in the air curiously and asked, “Third Elder Aunt, do you know why Dad and Third Elder Uncle always argue?”
It was easy to see that they both cared and were concerned about each other, so why were they always on edge with each other?
Recalling Qin Lie’s last words, Zhouzhou became even more curious. “Dad seems to not want Third Elder Uncle to go to the deep mountains and forests to shoot a film.”
Hearing this, Xiao Lan let out a sigh.
“It’s because when your Third Elder Uncle was shooting a film in the mountains before, a rope suddenly snapped, and he fell down the mountain. It was your dad who went and found him and carried him out,” Xiao Lan explained.
“So, their relationship was good,” Zhouzhou blinked her eyes, “Then why did it become like this?”
“It’s all because of that incident,” Xiao Lan frowned tightly as she recalled the past, her expression turning unpleasant. “Since then, your dad has been strongly against him shooting another film. But your Third Elder Uncle still likes it, and neither of them is willing to back down, so their relationship turned out like this.”
So that’s how it is.
It made sense. Both Qin Lie and Qin Yan had difficult temperaments, and it was hard for either of them to compromise.
However, Zhouzhou felt that this might not be the real reason. She believed that Dad didn’t actually mean to prevent Third Elder Uncle from continuing to shoot films, otherwise he wouldn’t have recommended another script to him.
Thinking about it, she rubbed her chubby chin thoughtfully.
It seems like I have to go back and ask Dad. But if I ask him directly, he probably won’t say. I need to come up with a plan.
Her eyes lit up as she thought of something!
After work, Qin Lie came to pick up Zhouzhou. He noticed that she was silent the whole way and couldn’t help but glance at her several times.
When they arrived home, Zhouzhou seemed to have completely forgotten about Qin Yan’s matter. She immersed herself in drawing talismans and then snuggled up in Grandma Qin’s arms to watch TV. Occasionally, she would mutter a few words softly, but she never looked at Qin Lie.
Qin Lie sat beside them, holding his phone, and waited for Zhouzhou to speak. He waited for a long time, but she remained silent. When it was eight o’clock, he finally stood up, lifted the little girl, and said, “Let’s go, it’s time for bed.”
As Grandma Qin’s arms emptied, she followed and said, “It’s time to sleep. Come, let me put Zhouzhou to sleep today.”
She reached out her hand to hold Zhouzhou, but Qin Lie evaded and said calmly, “I’ll do it. Mom, you’re not feeling well. Go to bed early and don’t tire yourself.”
Grandma Qin snorted lightly. “There’s nothing wrong with me. I’m fine as long as Zhouzhou is here.”
It was all just an excuse.
Zhouzhou looked at Qin Lie from Qin Lie’s shoulder and blinked at him.
Grandma Qin smiled meaningfully.
Everything was understood without words.
Qin Lie didn’t notice their actions. He carried Zhouzhou back to her room and lightly patted her chubby bottom, saying, “Was it fun?”
Zhouzhou giggled, quickly moved to the inner side of the bed, and innocently looked at him, “Dad, what are you saying? I don’t understand.”
Don’t understand? He could tell that she understood perfectly well.
She was young but quite clever.
Qin Lie couldn’t help but be amused by her. He looked at the little girl and said in a serious tone, “Come here.”
“No!” Zhouzhou moved away again, threatening with a fierce tone, “Dad, if you hit me again, I’ll tell Grandma!”
“Do you think I didn’t notice your secret signals?” Qin Lie snorted lightly, pulled a chair, and sat down. He lightly tapped his fingers and said, “Since you’re here, let’s settle the score together.”
Upon hearing this, Zhouzhou’s eyes widened in surprise. Dad found out?
When did he find out?
She stole a guilty glance at him but couldn’t tell his emotions. Zhouzhou quickly ran over, climbed onto his lap, and held his hand, shaking it gently. Looking up with her tender, white face, she tried to please him, “Dad, don’t be angry. If you wanted to know about Third Elder Uncle, I’ll tell you everything.”
“Who said I wanted to know?” Qin Lie said indifferently. His hand naturally rested behind her, lightly supporting her to prevent her from falling. His expression was just as before, his tone casual as if he didn’t care at all, but he tilted his ear slightly, as if waiting for her to speak.
There’s nothing in this world that’s harder than his stubborn mouth!
Zhouzhou couldn’t help but complain in her heart. She didn’t intentionally tease him. She quickly said, “Today, when Third Elder Uncle saw that only I went in and not you, he was very disappointed.”
As she spoke, she secretly observed his expression and saw a slight pause in his demeanor.
Hmph, Dad is being hypocritical. He clearly cares so much but acts like he doesn’t.
Let’s see how I can get him to spill the beans!
