Chapter 937: You’re Trying to Scam Me!
“What? Murder?!”
Zhouzhou immediately looked up and saw a crowd gathered not far ahead. People were all backing away in horror, leaving just one person standing in the center.
He was very pale, tall, and looked rather thin and frail. At his feet lay an old man coughing up blood–a disturbing sight. Yet the man remained indifferent, his gaze cold and unfeeling, stepping over the old man without a second glance.
The old man let out another groan, and the onlookers looked at the man with a mix of fear and accusation, too scared to confront him. Someone quietly dialed 110.
The police arrived swiftly, surrounded the man, and sternly said, “Stop right there!”
Unfazed, the man kept walking.
The police were taken aback by his audacity. “Wow, you’re pretty bold, huh?” one of them said, stepping forward to subdue him.
At this moment, a hint of change finally appeared in the man’s gaze as he looked up, hand slightly moving. Just then, a young voice called out, “Wait!”
The officer paused, and the man also stopped, glancing over to see a little girl running toward them.
Zhouzhou squatted beside the old man who was coughing up blood, touched the blood with her chubby little hand, sniffed it, and immediately realized, “This is chicken blood!”
“You’re faking it!”
How convenient–this was right up her alley!
The old man glanced at her discreetly, then clutched his chest and moaned, “Oh heavens, two people bullying a poor old man like me! My life is so hard!”
Zhouzhou frowned deeply.
Not only was he faking it, but he’d stolen her lines? This wouldn’t do!
Feeling displeased, Zhouzhou reached out to pull him up. “Stop pretending!”
The old man flicked his hand lightly, causing Zhouzhou to fall backward, clutching her chest and bursting into tears.
“You hit me!”
“Grandpa, I was just trying to help you up! How could you hit me?”
“Ow, it hurts! Someone help! This poor little girl is being bullied! My life is so hard!”
As she cried, the old man angrily sat up and yelled, “You’re lying! I didn’t hit you!”
Hearing this, Zhouzhou stopped crying and broke into a smile. “Grandpa, you’re all better now!”
The old man froze, his face darkening as he realized he’d been exposed.
The crowd caught on quickly too.
So, he was really faking it!
Flustered, the old man shot Zhouzhou a hateful glare and tried to make a run for it. But before he could escape, a small hand grabbed his wrist.
Zhouzhou held onto him firmly. “Big bad guy, you stop it right there.”
She looked over to the police officers. “Officer, arrest him!”
The police officers, shocked by the turn of events, finally snapped out of it and hurried forward to detain the man.
The old man started causing a scene, yelling, “Let go of me! I’m old, I have a heart condition! If you scare me, you’ll be liable!”

The officer snorted. “If you’re sick, why are you out here trying to scam people? You’re really dedicated, aren’t you? Now move along, no more nonsense.”
Soon after, they led the old man away, and the crowd dispersed.
Zhouzhou stood up, brushed the dirt off her clothes, and looked over at Jing Bai, who was staring blankly at her, his expression as still as ever.
She walked up to him, tilting her little face to look up at him with wide eyes.
After a moment, she couldn’t help but blink, a bit surprised. “Big brother, don’t your eyes get tired?”
Wow, he didn’t even blink!
Jing Bai said nothing.
Zhouzhou didn’t mind. Suddenly, she grabbed his hand. Jing Bai instinctively tried to pull away, but Zhouzhou moved faster, grabbing his wrist and taking a syringe from his palm.
Her eyes showed no surprise; she had clearly noticed it earlier, which was why she’d stopped him.
Zhouzhou dripped a bit of the syringe’s contents onto her hand, sniffed it, then tasted a drop. She immediately wrinkled her nose, spitting it out and quickly taking an antidote pill, frowning disapprovingly at him.
“Big brother, if you’d used this, you really would’ve killed someone.”
The liquid was potent enough to stop a heart.
Hearing this, Qin Lie’s face darkened slightly. He stepped forward and gently pulled Zhouzhou back, asking, “Are you okay? Do you feel any discomfort?”
“Nope.” Zhouzhou shook her head and patted her little bag. “I have antidotes in here!”
Jing Bai’s gaze shifted slightly to her bag. Zhouzhou noticed and, seeing what he was looking at, handed him the small porcelain bottle.
“Big brother, do you want to see this?”
Jing Bai took the bottle, crushed a pill, sniffed it, and blinked, finally showing a flicker of reaction. Holding the pill, he turned and walked away without a word.
“Hey!” Zhouzhou called after him, but he ignored her and left quickly.
Watching his retreating figure, Zhouzhou mumbled, “He’s so strange.”
Qin Lie also found him odd–and dangerous.
He looked down at Zhouzhou, instructing, “No more random tasting. That’s too dangerous.”
Despite knowing it was poison, she dared to try it. Her courage was something else.
Zhouzhou, however, was confident. “Don’t worry, Daddy! My antidote pills can neutralize any poison–they’re super effective.”
Qin Lie fixed her with a steady look, not speaking.
Feeling a little guilty under his gaze, Zhouzhou coughed lightly and tugged his hand, saying, “Alright, I won’t taste it anymore. I’ll just sniff it. Don’t be mad, Daddy.”
Qin Lie’s expression softened slightly. He sighed, patted her head, and said, “You’re studying traditional Chinese medicine with your master. Western medicines work differently and act faster. You might not be able to neutralize them in time, so you still need to be cautious.”
“Mm-hmm!” Zhouzhou nodded obediently.
Their Ancestral Master, having enjoyed the spectacle, clapped the shells off his sunflower seeds and urged, “Alright, that’s enough. Back to work!”
Zhouzhou pouted but returned to her post, pulling out her megaphone. She pressed the button, and a loud voice filled the air.
“Everything’s on sale! Everything’s two yuan! Don’t miss out!”
Hearing this, the Ancestral Master nearly choked on his own spit, eyes wide in disbelief. Where did she come up with these ideas?
With her chubby face resting on her little stool, Zhouzhou watched the passing crowd with wide eyes.
Her loudspeaker drowned out the other vendors’ calls, and quite a few people were drawn over.
By the end of the night, Zhouzhou had reached record sales. She practically floated home, bouncing with joy.
The moment she entered the house, she ran straight into someone coming out of a room.
While she was fine, Qin Dong stumbled back two steps.
Seeing this, Zhouzhou quickly reached out to steady him.
Just as she was about to speak, she suddenly paused, her little nose twitching as she sniffed around him.
“Third Brother, why do you smell a bit… funky? And a little familiar, too.”
What was that smell?
She thought for a moment, and then her eyes lit up in realization. “Oh! It’s the same smell as that scamming old man from earlier!”
