Chapter 938: He Can Talk to the Dead
Upon hearing this, Qin Dong was slightly taken aback. He opened his photo album on his phone, pulled up a picture, and asked, “Is it this person?”
Zhouzhou leaned over to take a look, then nodded enthusiastically, “Yeah, yeah! Third Brother, how do you have his photo?”
Qin Dong didn’t answer but instead asked, “You saw him today? How did that happen? Tell me.”
Seeing his serious expression, Zhouzhou was a bit startled and quickly recounted the story.
When Qin Dong finished listening, he grasped the key point, “So, you’re saying he was planning to use a poisoned needle on the guy who tried to blackmail him?”
Probably, yes?
It did seem that the man had this intention.
Zhouzhou replied, “But I stopped him, so he didn’t actually go through with it.”
Qin Dong’s expression remained grave.
Sensing something was wrong, Qin Lie asked, “What’s going on? Did something happen?”
Qin Dong didn’t keep them in the dark and said directly, “He’s dead.”
What?
Zhouzhou’s eyes widened.
Impossible. She hadn’t seen any signs of misfortune in his face unless something sudden happened after she left, and it hadn’t had time to show.
The Ancestral Master floated over, listening closely.
Zhouzhou grew anxious, “Third Brother, are you suspecting that guy?”
Qin Dong nodded. “He’s the most likely suspect. Besides, you mentioned that the poison causes cardiac arrest, which is exactly how he died.”
No way!
Zhouzhou’s mouth fell open, hardly able to believe it. She felt that guy didn’t seem like the type to do such a thing.
Qin Dong began to head out, and Zhouzhou quickly followed. “Third Brother, can I come with you?”
Hearing this, Qin Dong hesitated and glanced up at Qin Lie, seeking his opinion.
He loved solving cases, so he had grown up visiting various crime scenes, and he was used to seeing bodies. But Zhouzhou was a girl and the family’s treasure–if he took her along, he might not even be able to set foot back home tonight. Grandma would probably scold him!
Qin Lie nodded, saying, “Let’s go; I’ll take you there.”
“Yes, yes!” Zhouzhou eagerly nodded, quickly jumping into the car.
Since he agreed, Qin Dong didn’t object further. After all, if there were any issues, Uncle would handle them.
Not long after, they arrived at the hospital.
The person had died suddenly in the hospital, and his family was causing an uproar.
As they approached, they heard a voice shouting, “Compensate us! The hospital messed up the surgery and killed my dad!”
“That’s right!” echoed another sharp voice. “And the person who argued with my dad–he’s the one who scared him to death. There was also a kid, wasn’t there?”
A kid? Are they talking about me?

Zhouzhou peeked inside, and as soon as the two people spotted her, they glared and pointed at her, saying, “It’s you! You’re the kid who argued with my dad in the surveillance footage!”
One of them walked over, finger nearly poking her in the eye.
Qin Lie’s eyes grew cold as he reached out, gripping the man’s wrist tightly. “If you don’t want your hand, just say so.”
The man yelped in pain.
His wife rushed over, a bit intimidated, but still yelled, “What are you doing? Let go of him! Assault, assault! Police, come take care of this!”
Hearing the commotion, Qin Xu walked over. He looked surprised to see Qin Lie, “Why are you here?”
Qin Dong explained, “Zhouzhou met the deceased earlier today, so I brought her here to see if she can provide any information.”
Got it.
Qin Xu nodded.
The couple, realizing they knew each other, immediately accused, “Oh, so the police and the murderer are in cahoots! You’re obviously going to protect her!”
“My poor dad, why is life so unfair…”
Zhouzhou was annoyed.
Very annoyed.
Twice in one day, people had stolen her line!
She was about to speak up when the sound of footsteps approached. “Zhouzhou?”
Hearing someone call her name, Zhouzhou turned, surprised. “Big Brother?”
Next to him was another person she’d met today.
It was Jing Bai.
Zhouzhou was even more surprised, “Brother? Why are you here with my big brother?”
Hearing this, Qin Ren raised an eyebrow, surprised. “You two know each other?”
How could they know each other? It didn’t make sense.
Jing Bai was introverted and rarely went out. Today was one of his few outings, and Zhouzhou had school during the day and did fortune-telling at night. They shouldn’t have had any chance to meet. Even if they did, given Jing Bai’s personality, it was unlikely he’d interact with Zhouzhou.
Looking puzzled, he listened as Zhouzhou eagerly explained how they met.
Who would have thought?
Qin Ren rubbed his brow, amused by the unexpected connection. What a small world.
“It’s him!” the man yelled, pointing at Jing Bai with certainty. “He’s the killer! Arrest him!”
Everyone present looked visibly impatient.
Zhouzhou, Jing Bai, the doctors–everyone had been accused of causing the man’s death. He was like a mad dog, biting at anyone he saw.
Qin Ren frowned, pulling Zhouzhou behind him protectively. He took off his glasses and said calmly, “You should take responsibility for your words. We can sue you for slander if you keep this up.”
His demeanor shifted, suddenly becoming gloomy, as though he were a completely different person.
Jing Bai glanced at him, his eyes flickering with interest as he tightened his grip on the scalpel he was holding.
Interesting. He had the urge to dissect.
Just as he thought this, a small chubby hand peeled back his fingers.
He looked down to see a head of fluffy “Fortune Hair.”
Zhouzhou pried open his hand, taking the scalpel, and tilted her head up to look at him curiously, “Brother, why are you carrying a knife?”
Seeing this, the man immediately shouted, “See? He’s the murderer! He’s definitely abnormal!”
Hearing this, Zhouzhou’s little face turned sour. “You’re the abnormal one!”
She’d already checked–her brother didn’t have the murderous aura. He hadn’t killed the old man.
The little girl looked fierce, baring her tiny teeth in frustration.
Jing Bai looked down at her, his expression unreadable.
Zhouzhou thought he was scared and grabbed his hand, reassuring him, “Don’t worry, Brother, I’ll protect you.”
Qin Ren raised an eyebrow at the scene.
Zhouzhou wasn’t scared of him?
He suddenly recalled that when she first met him, she wasn’t afraid of his unglassesed face but was actually frightened when he put on glasses for experiments.
If she ever found out that Jing Bai was the one who might actually dissect her, he wondered how she’d react.
“What’s all the noise?” Qin Xu frowned. “He’s the forensic pathologist we called in.”
What?
He’s a forensic pathologist?
The man started yelling again, “No way! He’s the murderer! How can a killer be a forensic pathologist? I don’t accept this!”
Qin Xu ignored him.
Who does he think he is? Like his opinion matters. Ha.
Listening to them, Zhouzhou asked curiously, “What’s a forensic pathologist?”
“A doctor who dissects bodies–they can hear what the dead say and see what they left behind,” Qin Ren explained.
Zhouzhou nodded in awe, then exclaimed excitedly, “I can talk to the dead too!”
