Chapter 1290: Cleaning Up Leaks (Part 3)
A/N: Extra chapter is here~

…

___

The occupants of the house immediately lunged towards him. Shields sprang out around him from all sides, closing in with practiced coordination.

“On the left corner! Left!” he heard, and soon he was herded by the shields in a direction. He was taken aback by the unexpected force and was temporarily pushed back.

Someone even had the audacity to jab a spear through the narrow gaps between shields, prodding at his wounds!

Then another, and another.

He screamed.

“GRRR!!! YOU BASTARDS!”

He immediately used his skill, not really caring that he was already about to run out after so long.

[Repulse Wave]

The air around him shook for a second, and the people trying to box him were also shocked.

Fortunately, they were all weaklings, and a few punches and kicks after that sent all of them smack into the walls and struggling to stand up again.

He tutted, spitting on them. Now that he saw them, he felt even more indignant that they caused him trouble in the first place!

However, these weaklings ended up standing again. Obviously, they all had decent equipment. It should be broken after a hit from him, but the fact that they could still stand irked him to no end!

“CORNER HIM! CORNER HIM!”

“CONTAIN HIM UNTIL THE GUARDS ARRIVE!”

Inside the house was Tim, along with a few of his roommates, some strangers, and finally his ex-girlfriend Hana and his estranged sister Tilda.

Tilda was accidentally hit by the force by accident, while Hana was unscathed but otherwise okay.

In fact, the two women had been kicked out months ago, but they begged to hide there when the war started. Tim hated both of them, but they were still family at some point, and he couldn’t let them die helplessly in the end.

Speaking of Hana and Tilda, they caused quite a scandal a while back. It was so big that everyone in the territory was informed, making them the topic of aghast and mockery for weeks after that.

The issue was so big primarily because it was related to one of the beloved Elders, Ansel.

A few months ago, the two women hatched a plan to seduce Ansel, in an attempt to get better lives in Alterra. Even if he didn’t leave his wife, Hana could be his mistress whom he also took care of.

Hana would never have thought she would become a person like this, but she liked Ansel too much. The more she remembered his interaction with the woman, the heavier her body felt, as if she were surrounded by acid.

Tilda said that men were most likely to cheat when their wives were pregnant. So, while his wife was very pregnant, the two of them tried to get him aphrodisiac (sold by some merchants who rented stores in the marketplace).

Hana invited him for her birthday and she promised there’d be others with them, old friends, and it so happened that there were indeed two classmates who had found Alterra, so she named them.

For a while, it seemed to go well: He accepted the invitation and really appeared at the party, and even drank the laced juice.

Sad for them, Ansel was a loyal man, and he left her alone after exposing her to the classmates, who spread out the scandal.

The two women both got a short prison sentence (in the manual prison) with a case of attempted violation of Marital Sanctity.

(These were new laws and part of the New Family Law, in addition to actual adultery cases, which were also strong cases and had even harsher punishments.)

In any case, during her time in prison, Hana had clearly seen how Tilda simply wanted to use her for her own gain. Inside, she would slap her and pull her hair, calling her useless for being unable to seduce a man.

The amount of abuse she received inside, especially from Tilda, caused most of her emotional scars.

She also realized a lot about herself and her motives, and she wallowed in shame for a long time, barely eating and sleeping.

When she thought of how she hurt the kind-hearted Tim, she even wanted to take her own life.

When they were released from Prison a month prior, the two women felt everyone was judging them (they weren’t) and they had considered leaving Alterra.

They didn’t in the end, because how could they survive in peace elsewhere after experiencing Alterra?

In Tilda’s case, she still hoped to take advantage of Tim somehow—though he had managed to reject her advances so far. Tilda also seemed to believe the best men to hunt were in Alterra and, the past weeks, that was what she had been trying to do.

In Hana’s case, she didn’t want to go away even if she lived at the bottom rungs of the Town.

It wasn’t for Ansel, but for Tim. She didn’t want to be so far away from him at all.

However, she didn’t dare show herself in front of him at all, and all she could do was watch him from afar.

However, when the war announcement came, they found Tim and asked him to help them out. She didn’t know how she could agree to Tilda’s shameless request, but she wanted to talk to him too.

The first town war was inevitably dangerous. She wanted to be near him during that period.

She honestly didn’t expect Tim to accept them and she felt like the luckiest woman alive.

It seemed like she didn’t want to die, after all.

BANG!

The enemy once again pushed their people smack to the wall, but this time she heard a few equipment cracking.

Tim happened to be thrown near her. She ran to him without thinking, attempting to drag him to the door while the enemy seemed to be busy with others!

Hana’s level was low, but it was high enough to be able to pull a man’s weight with relative ease. She used all her strength to help him get out of there as quickly as she could.

Unexpectedly, another hand grabbed her legs.

“BITCH! HELP ME, TOO!”

It was Tilda. Of course it is.

She cursed, but did not let go of Tim’s body.

The noise caused the trespasser—who was kicking another person until his defense equipment broke—to turn to the two women.

His attention poured extreme terror in the two women, and they ended up screaming as he approached.

Tim moved and pushed her back, and he pulled out a backup weapon from his space. “LEAVE THEM ALONE!” he yelled, covering them with his body.

The enemy sneered and raised his fist to slap Tim, making him fly to the furniture, definitely breaking a few bones. BANG!

“TIM!!”

The man fell down, but made no move to sit up again. His final defense equipment had been broken because of the prior attack, and this meant that he—a level 11—had taken a direct hit from a level 27.

Hana’s heart clenched, seeing him like this. Meanwhile, the terrified Tilda’s eyes were red in terror and, thinking she was the next target, she screamed at the man as she threw whatever was in her space.

Fortunately for her, the enemy was too busy staring at Hana to notice the random paraphernalia thrown at him.

“No…” Hana cried, embracing Tim, who wasn’t moving anymore. He was barely breathing…

Further, if she pulled him now, his injuries could worsen instead.

What could she do?

She cried, staring blankly at the enemy who she belatedly realized had approached them.

This time, though, she no longer had the will to run away.
