Chapter 114: Chapter 114: Daughter Of Rich Tycoon
“By selling to those outside the base, we thought we were providing something they desperately needed, while also keeping our family alive. But now… now I see that we were wrong.”
Zhong Xiao’s eyes moistened slightly but he still gritted his teeth and shouted,
“If you want to punish, punish me, I was the one who had come with that plan!”
Su Jiyai paused.
Mother Zhong’s words did hit her.
But…
“If you care so much about the pregnant woman outside the base, why can’t you think about the pregnant woman in the base?” Su Jiyai asked with narrowed eyes.
The Zhong family lowered their head in shame.
It was true.
Though they were helpless their actions can’t be justified.
Su Jiyai could see the internal struggle within them, especially in Zhong Xiao’s defiant posture.
He was trying to shield his family from the consequences, but his actions were a reflection of the collective desperation they felt.
“You say you want to take the punishment, Zhong Xiao,” Su Jiyai said slowly.
“But this isn’t just about one person. Your entire family was involved in this, knowingly or not. Taking all the blame might seem noble, but it doesn’t change the fact that your actions affected everyone in this base.”
Zhong Xiao’s jaw clenched, his fists tightening at his sides.
His eyes darted toward his mother and grandparents, who stood silently, weighed down by the guilt of their choices.
“How do you think the supplies in my base come?” Su Jiyai asked.
This was the question that all the tenants had in their minds and had their own theory.
Some felt Su Jiyai knew magic, and some thought Su Jiyai had hoarded the supplies long before the apocalypse.
She was now just reselling them and earning back profits.
“You…you were the daughter of a rich tycoon and had hoarded the supplies…” Zhong Xiao answered in a soft voice.
Su Jiyai: “…” Wow…I never knew my father was rich.
“No. I work hard for them.”
Su Jiyai recalled how she didn’t sleep for entire two days and her health deteriorated to the point she fainted.
Why did she struggle so much?
Just so everyone could survive, not because a family had a tragic background story.
She sympathizes with them and hence she works hard for everyone…not just one family.
“I’m not here to destroy families. I want to make sure we all survive, and that means making tough decisions. But it also means giving people a chance to learn from their mistakes.”
She continued,

“You’re young, and I can see that you’re trying to protect your family. That’s commendable. But protecting them by undermining the community only puts everyone in greater danger.”
There was a brief pause, and then she continued,
“You’ll face the consequences as a family, together. That’s how you’ll grow stronger. You’ll be monitored, and the rations you receive will be strictly for survival, no more hoarding or reselling.
If you truly want to help others, then prove it by working for the base. There are plenty of tasks that need doing, and if your family is as willing as you claim, you’ll help rebuild trust here.”
“Huh?” The Zhong family members didn’t understand Su Jiyai’s words.
“This brings me, to my second topic for the day. I plan to hire 7 workers for the supermarket and 2 workers for my weapons shops, 2 workers for the chef.
The employee benefits are the individual selected won’t have to pay rent, and will given 30 zombie crystals per month.
The superhuman and normal humans will have equal chances to be recruited. And by equal chances I mean, if I recruit 1 worker for my weapons shop, the other one should be a superhuman.”
Su Jiyai thought for a long while and decided to use such a method to help ordinary people survive.
“Finally for all the normal humans, I have a word, don’t give up. I was once like you. Believe in yourself and someday you will make it.”
(Author: Exactly. So my dear reader whatever you are suffering from I hope you will hold on and make it to the end!)
Those words broke the hearts of many tenants yet they brought a smile to their faces.
Su Jiyai turned off the microphone and closed her eyes.
……………………
In the Aurora Base.
A young girl with black eyes, black hair, and tanned skin was strapped on a bed.
The dim light flickered across the cold, sterile lab as the lead researcher hovered over the unconscious girl strapped to the steel bed.
Her body was covered in electrodes, wires snaking from her arms, chest, and legs, connected to a console that hummed with quiet menace.
The girl’s black hair was soaked with sweat, her skin pale and clammy, marred by bruises and needle marks.
“Subject 23… still showing no signs of superhuman awakening,” one of the assistants reported his voice monotone.
“Vitals are dangerously low.”
Dr. Liang, the head researcher at Aurora Base, scowled.
Her sharp features were hidden behind a mask, but her eyes were cold and calculating as she observed the girl’s trembling form.
“How is that possible? She survived Stage Four of the stimulation,” Liang muttered, pacing back and forth.
“Her resilience is unprecedented. If anyone should have awakened, it’s her.”
One of the younger researchers, visibly uncomfortable with the experiment, stepped forward.
“Maybe her body wasn’t ready. The stimulation protocol is designed for those with stronger constitutions.”
Liang’s gaze snapped to the young assistant, her tone laced with irritation.
“She’s stronger than you think. We chose her specifically for her potential. If she couldn’t handle it, then no one can.”
The room fell silent as Liang approached the girl, her breath shallow, barely hanging on. Her black eyes flickered under her lids, a sign of life—but just barely.
“We’re wasting time,” Liang finally said. “Increase the voltage. If she’s going to awaken, it has to happen now.”
“But Doctor—”
“Do it!” Mei snapped.
Reluctantly, the assistant adjusted the dials on the console.
The hum grew louder, the electrical current intensifying.
