Chapter 129: Chapter 129: Cell Towers

“I was kidding.” Su Jiyai said softly and stood up to leave. “Can you give me your phone number?”

“I don’t have one.” Qin Feng calmly answered.

Su Jiyai: “…” I suspect my hubby is lying but I don’t have any proof.

Taking a deep breath, Su Jiyai explained,

“In the future, if you need anything, you can directly message me and I will deliver the product right at your door.”

Qin Feng’s expression eased a little and he explained,

“Even if I give you my phone number, I won’t be able to contact you. The country’s communication system is failing slowly.”

“Is it because of the zombies?” Su Jiyai asked with a heavy heart.

After waking up, Su Jiyai hardly thought of zombies. Her base was protected, and her interaction with the zombies was limited.

She was so busy with her base and dimension hunting-related problems, that she hardly thought of a situation outside the base.

Though she kills some zombies daily, they are mostly of level 1 or level 2.

Qin Feng’s eyes darkened at Su Jiyai’s question.

He crossed his arms, a habit he developed when explaining something that weighed heavily on him.

“Yes, it’s because of the zombies,” Qin Feng began, his voice steady but grave.

“But it’s not just the regular ones. We’ve recently started encountering level 5 zombies.”

Su Jiyai raised her eyebrows, surprised.

“Level 5 zombies? I thought the highest level so far was 4. How can this new level affect communication systems?”

Suddenly Su Jiyai felt remorse for the one year she had missed out.

According to the system, some level 10 zombies are present, too.

But only level 4 zombies have emerged till now, which had assured Su Jiyai, that she still had time to change everything, however now…she keeps on feeling as if her theory was…wrong.

Qin Feng’s jaw tightened as he continued.

“Level 5 zombies are completely different. They possess unique abilities, and their evolution isn’t just about strength or speed.

They have intelligence. And some of them have powers that directly interfere with our technology—particularly our communication systems.”

Su Jiyai listened intently as he explained, her heart sinking with each word.

Does Qin Feng mean…level 5 zombies…have superpowers?

Zombies with high speed and human-like intelligence were already a problem for humanity but now…they possess superpowers too?

“Do they have superpowers?” Su Jiyai asked in a low tone.

Qin Feng shook his head, before nodding,

“Partially. For now, they only have the power to interrupt the cell towers.”

“What about satellites?” Su Jiyai’s eyes lit up with hope.

However her hope was dashed when Qin Feng shook his and said,

Qin Feng sighed, his expression turning grim once more.

“Satellites? They’re being affected too, but in a different way. The electromagnetic pulses from level 5 zombies aren’t just short-range disruptions.

Some of them seem to emit a signal that disturbs satellite communications in low orbit.

It’s not constant, but when enough of them gather, they can interfere with our satellite signals and tracking systems.”

Su Jiyai frowned, feeling the weight of the situation.

“So, we’re essentially blind from above as well?”

“Yes,” Qin Feng replied, his tone somber.

“We’re losing the ability to monitor areas outside of direct visual range. The worst part is that we don’t know how much stronger they can get.

Every day, more of them evolve. Right now, they’re disrupting cell towers and satellites, but who knows what they’ll do next?

Sometime…I truly wonder…whether the god doesn’t want us to live anymore.”

His last sentence was said in a low voice, but Su Jiyai heard it.

She couldn’t agree more with Qin Feng’s words.

How to say…everything that was happening whether it was extreme heat or the communication problem…it looked too deliberate.

“How come such news is not made public yet?” Su Jiyai asked with a frown.

Qin Feng’s eyes darkened,

Qin Feng calmly looked away,

“That is none of your business, Boss Su.”

“It is.” Su Jiyai smiled widely, but due to her veil, Qin Feng couldn’t see her smile at all,

“After all, you told me this piece of important news so that I can come up with a solution, haven’t you already dragged me into this issue?”
