Chapter 134: Chapter 134: Huo Ning
In the military.
Dong Shin was sitting in his office and talking with one of his subordinates who was reporting about Liu Feng’s situation.
“So you are telling me, he has 2 months’ worth of supplies?” Dong Shin asked with a dark face.
“Yes.” The subordinate replied.
“Even the chairman is leaning toward Liu Feng’s proposal?” Dong Shin asked.
“Yes.”
“Fine, you can leave.” Dong Shin clasped his hand and fell in a deep thought.
Finally, he picked up his phone and dialed a number. But just like the previous time, the phone didn’t get picked up.
“Damn it! Why the fuck that b*stard is not picking up my call?”
Dong Shin was irritated and muttered,
“If that base leader doesn’t answer by tomorrow…I will switch sides. However, if his conditions are much more favorable, I will go with plan A.”
…………………….
Aurora Base.
Su Jiyai materialized silently in the barren outskirts of Aurora Base, the cold wind whipping around her.
She steadied herself, adjusting to the eerie stillness that greeted her.
But something felt off.
As she took a step forward, her gaze fell on the ground—and her heart skipped a beat.
Scattered across the wasteland were skeletal remains. Bones, broken and abandoned, stretched out across the dirt.
Some were small, others larger, all remnants of lives that had been cast aside by the cruel reality of the Aurora Base’s trials.
Su Jiyai’s brow furrowed as she took in the morbid scene, her stomach turning.
“System what is all of this?”
[Give me a few minutes to investigate host.]
She stepped carefully, her instincts on high alert. Every sound seemed amplified in the dead silence.
As she explored further, her senses sharpened, and she felt an odd pull—a sensation that led her to something more.
That’s when she saw her.
Huddled by the edge of a broken fence, a skeletal figure barely moved.
The girl was so gaunt, so malnourished, that at first, Su Jiyai thought she was another pile of bones.
But then the girl shifted, her frail body trembling as she lifted her head.
Their eyes met.

The girl’s black, hollow eyes widened as if she couldn’t believe what she was seeing.
A sliver of life sparked within them, and with a sudden burst of energy born from pure desperation, she crawled forward, her bony fingers scraping the dirt as she dragged herself toward Su Jiyai.
“P-Please… p-please help me…” the girl gasped, her voice barely above a whisper. Her body shook violently with the effort of moving. “D-don’t… leave me…”
On a closer look, the girl had many burn marks.
Was it because of extreme heat?
Su Jiyai stood frozen for a moment, her heart clenching at the sight before her.
The girl was nothing more than skin and bones, her frail frame bruised and covered in dirt.
Her lips were cracked, her face gaunt, as if she hadn’t eaten in days—weeks, even.
Two days.
It had been two days since this girl had been cast out, left to die.
The cruel heat and the chilly night had almost killed the girl, but the little girl held on. She couldn’t move, but she refused to give up.
She wanted to live.
Su Jiyai knelt down, her hands reaching out to steady the girl, whose trembling body collapsed into her arms.
The girl’s fingers curled weakly around Su Jiyai’s sleeve, holding on as if her life depended on it.
“Help… please…” the girl begged, her voice cracking. “They… left me… I don’t… want to die…”
“Who?” Su Jiyai asked softly. “But first tell me your name.”
The moment Su Jiyai finished her words, she took out a sun proof cloak and covered the girl with it.
“Huo Ning…” The girl answered. However her expression turned dazed as she clutched Su Jiyai’s hand and said,
“I….I…wan…t…live…p-please…p-please…save…me.”
Her body was trembling but the sun-proof cloak slowly reduced her trembling.
The girl’s eyes widened in disbelief.
The cloak was definitely a high-tech invention!
She could feel Su Jiyai was a kind person.
Otherwise, how could anyone give a luxurious sunproof cloak to anyone?
Tears started to pool in Huo Ning’s eyes.
Though she can’t see Su Jiyai and can only see a mummy-like figure, Huo Ning wished that the mummy-like figure save her.
Su Jiyai sighed as she wiped Huo Ning’s tears and lifted her in her arms.
“Teleport me back to the base.”
[But host, this girl…]
Su Jiyai said softly,
“She won’t harm us.”
[How can you be so sure, host? Maybe she is a mole or a trap set by the Aurora Base.]
“For whom?” Su Jiyai asked softly.
“System, you might not have noticed but the place where this girl was, was like a dumping yard.
Trap? No. It was more of a dumping yard for the experiments that have failed.”
[Experiments? Host how can you reach that conclusion?]
Su Jiyai stared at the skeletons and the injection marks on Huo Ning’s arms.
“Aren’t these injection marks and skeletons, enough to proof?” Su Jiyai chuckled bitterly.
How could she not know of experiments going on in every base?
“Now can we teleport?”
[Sure host.]
Whoosh.
For Huo Ning everything was strange. One moment she was still outside the Aurora Base and the next second she was in a wonderful room.
“Are you hungry?” The mummy-like figure asked.
Before Huo Ning could answer, her stomach growled.
Su Jiyai’s heart melted and she said,
“Wait here.”
She walked into her room and ordered the system to make four dishes and one dessert.
Su Jiyai returned with a tray in her hands, laden with four carefully prepared dishes and a dessert.
Huo Ning’s eyes widened at the sight, her body too weak to react properly, but the desperation in her gaze was unmistakable.
“Here, eat slowly,” Su Jiyai said softly, placing the tray in front of Huo Ning.
She offered her a spoonful of soup, and Huo Ning’s trembling hands reached for it, too weak to hold it properly.
