Chapter 149: Chapter 149: Steel Wasps Honey
“I went through hell,” Rui Wang admitted, her voice cracking.
“The pain was unbearable for days. But eventually, the poison wore off. The healer cured Fu Lin, and we thought that would be the end of it.”
She paused, her eyes lowering to her belly. “But… I didn’t know I was pregnant at the time.”
“And now you’re experiencing these stomach aches… because of the poison?”
Fu Lin’s fists clenched in anger.
“It has to be. That’s the only thing that makes sense. We thought she had fully recovered, but the pains started again a few months ago.”
“Does the pain come in waves, or is it constant?” Su Jiyai asked.
“It comes in waves,” Rui Wang answered weakly.
“Sometimes it’s manageable, but other times… like now…” Her voice trailed off, another wave of pain clearly gripping her.
“Rui Wang, I understand your concern about taking healing pills, especially since you’re worried about harming the baby.”
[Host, I have examined her condition…her stomach aches can’t be healed with just healing pills.]
“What? But why?” Su Jiyai was baffled.
Healing pills till now worked for every problem.
So how come now, it was invalid for a normal poison?
[Host, the reasons are still unspecific.]
A terrifying possibility appeared in Su Jiyai’s mind and her heart skipped a beat.
‘You are overthinking!’ Su Jiyai scolded herself. But the possibility made her heart tremble.
Taking a deep breath, she continued speaking to Rui Wang,
“But there might be another way to help. This poison you drank… did your brother say anything about long-term effects?”
Rui Wang shook her head.
“He didn’t. He just laughed and said the pain would pass, but he never mentioned this… He didn’t care about the consequences.”
Su Jiyai bit back a curse.
“Of course, he didn’t. And unfortunately, even if the poison itself wasn’t meant to be lethal, we don’t know how it might affect your pregnancy.”
Rui Wang remained silent. A sigh escaped Su Jiyai’s lips and she asked Fu Lin,
“Did you ever confront him about this? Ask if there were other side effects?”
Fu Lin’s expression turned dark and he clenched his fist,
“I didn’t get the chance.”
“Can you go and ask him now?” Su Jiyai asked.
Fu Lin lowered his head and shook his head,

“I can’t.”
“Why?”
“I don’t know his whereabouts.” Fu Lin said with a lowered face.
Su Jiyai noticed his anomaly and narrowed her eyes,
“Which base is he from? Wait the question should be…which base are you from?”
Both Fu Lin and Rui Wang exchanged nervous glances, their silence louder than any explanation they could have given.
Su Jiyai was just about to press them further when Rui Wang’s face twisted in agony, her lips parting as a sharp groan escaped her throat.
Her skin turned an even paler shade, and her body shook slightly as she clutched her abdomen.
Su Jiyai exhaled, realizing that pushing them now would only make things worse.
There would be time to dig into their past later. Right now, she needed to help Rui Wang.
“System,” Su Jiyai called silently,
“Is there anything that could give her a huge amount of power, or relieve this pain?”
[Host, what do you mean by ‘give power’? Are you proposing to give her a pill to enhance her strength?]
Su Jiyai didn’t answer the system’s confusion. She knew the answer she was looking for, but she wasn’t ready to voice her suspicion yet.
Instead, she repeated her request, her thoughts locked on the possibility that Rui Wang’s condition wasn’t just an ordinary side effect of poison.
[Host, I’m not sure what kind of poison you think she drank, but…if you are asking for an item that could give a huge amount of power to Rui Wang then there is one thing that might help.]
“What is it?” Su Jiyai asked, her heart thudding in her chest.
[Steel Wasp’s Honey.]
“Oh yes! Why didn’t I think of it before!” Su Jiyai sighed, “Teleport one bottle of it into their room.”
A moment later, the air shimmered, and a small bottle of golden honey materialized on the bed beside Rui Wang.
Fu Lin’s eyes widened in shock as he looked at the sudden appearance of the bottle.
“What… What is this?” Fu Lin asked through the speaker, his voice full of confusion. “Did you send this, Boss Su? Why?”
Su Jiyai’s voice was calm,
“Yes, I sent it. It’s called Steel Wasp’s Honey. After drinking it, Rui Wang should feel better.”
Rui Wang, weak but still wary, shook her head bitterly. “Nothing can help. The pain… It always comes back.”
Su Jiyai’s voice softened, her tone filled with empathy,
“Just try it, Rui Wang. Trust me on this.”
Fu Lin still seemed unsure, but Su Jiyai’s calm confidence swayed him.
“What should I do?” he asked, looking at the bottle of honey.
“Boil some water,” Su Jiyai instructed.
“Mix a small spoon of the honey into the water and let her drink it slowly.”
Fu Lin moved quickly, following Su Jiyai’s instructions.
Soon, the soft scent of honey mixed with the steam from the boiled water filled the room. Rui Wang sat up slightly.
Fu Lin brought the cup to her lips, and with a small sigh, she took a hesitant sip.
The sweet taste of honey spread over her tongue, and surprisingly, the sharp headache she’d been enduring for hours began to dull slightly.
She blinked in surprise but said nothing as she continued to drink.
After she finished the honey water, there was a moment of stillness.
Rui Wang and Fu Lin exchanged glances, both of them waiting for some kind of miracle. But as the seconds ticked by, nothing seemed to happen.
Rui Wang sighed heavily, her shoulders slumping in disappointment.
“I told you,” she murmured. “Nothing works…”
But just as the words left her lips, something shifted. Rui Wang’s eyes widened in surprise as a warmth spread through her abdomen.
The sharp, stabbing pains she had been enduring for days began to fade, replaced by a soothing sensation.
Her breathing steadied, and slowly, color began to return to her face.
