Chapter 154: Chapter 154: Chen Mu’s Downfall
In an instant, her attire shifted. The veil’s magic enveloped her body, changing her appearance entirely.
Now she looked like a young man in his early twenties.
At one point, she drove into one of the alleyways and put away her RV in the system’s space.
By the time those subordinates reached her location, they only saw a young man walking toward the gambling den.
“Sh*t! Where the f*ck did that middle-aged man go?” A man with a scar on his face asked. He had five men behind him. All of them were holding bad or some kind of offensive equipment.
“Boss, what do to? We have lost that man?”
“Dispere and find him! What are you all waiting for?”The man with the scar shouted.
All five of them nodded and hurriedly ran in different directions.
Su Jiyai smirked under her veil at their confusion.
She blended in effortlessly with the underground crowd as she walked toward the gambling den.
The subordinates would never suspect that the young man they saw was actually her.
“Idiots,” she muttered under her breath, weaving through the narrow alleyways, her footsteps light and unhurried.
The den was tucked away in an unmarked building, its entrance hidden by stacks of crates and old, rusted machinery.
A single door stood at the end of the alley, guarded by two burly men with hard expressions.
They were sizing up anyone who passed by, clearly trying to weed out any uninvited guests.
Su Jiyai approached confidently.
The guards barely glanced at her; her appearance was inconspicuous enough to pass without raising suspicion.
She walked right up to the door, gave a subtle nod to the guards, and stepped inside.
The moment she entered, the air changed.
The stone gambling den was dimly lit, a haze of smoke lingering in the air, and the low murmur of voices filled the room.
Various tables were scattered throughout, with people hunched over polished stone slabs, carefully examining the uncut gems within them.
This time Su Jiyai smartly blended in with the crowd and earned more than 5 million yuans in the next 3 hours.
5 hours had already passed. This means 5 days have already passed in her world.
Su Jiyai wondered how everything was going on in her base.
Is it under attack?
Did Yuan Xin do what she had instructed him to do?
Or did Chen Mu attack again this time?
Su Jiyai felt a bit worried.
But what she didn’t know was that…her previous action had created a huge impact on Chen Mu’s base.

………..
Raven Base.
Chen Mu clutched his head, desperation written on his face.
“Is this truly the end…”
After the sudden emergence of extreme heat, Chen Mu was busy dealing with the aftereffects, just when he felt things couldn’t become any worse, he was proven wrong.
A new turning point appeared.
The citizens started to faint due to heatstrokes, the food became spoiled leading to a shortage of food, and fewer and fewer people went out for hunt resulting in a huge decrease in income.
As if things weren’t already disastrous, dry grass houses in the outer sections of the base had caught fire.
What started as a small blaze quickly turned into a wildfire, spreading across sections of the base, further fueling the panic among the already restless citizens.
There were not enough people to stop the fire from spreading, and Chen Mu knew it wouldn’t be long before it reached his more fortified sections.
He had always prided himself on being a strong leader, feared and respected by his people.
But now, all of that power felt hollow, useless in the face of nature’s wrath.
The base he had built with blood and sweat was crumbling before his eyes, and there was nothing he could do to stop it.
Unlike other big bases, Chen Mu didn’t have any temperature-controlling suits, which made him even more anxious.
A knock sounded on the heavy wooden door, startling him out of his thoughts.
For a moment, Chen Mu considered ignoring it, unwilling to face more bad news, but the knock came again, this time more insistent.
“Come in,” he growled, his voice hoarse from lack of sleep.
The door creaked open, and one of his subordinates stepped inside. It was Han Xueling, one of the few men still loyal to him. Chen Mu didn’t need to ask to know the man was here with another report that would only deepen his misery.
Han Xueling approached the desk, his expression tense.
He hesitated for a moment before speaking, his eyes darting to the floor as if he was unsure of how to deliver the news.
“Boss,” Han Xueling began carefully, his voice low but steady. “I’m afraid things have gotten worse.”
Chen Mu sighed, leaning back in his chair.
“Worse? How could they possibly get worse?” He laughed bitterly, though there was no humor in the sound.
“Tell me, Han Xueling, how much worse can things get than the entire base going up in flames and the people dropping dead from heat?”
Han Xueling swallowed hard. “It’s about the people, Boss,” he said quietly.
“They… they’re leaving.”
Chen Mu straightened up, his eyes narrowing in confusion.
“Leaving? Where the hell would they go in this heat? We’re barely surviving as it is. No other base is better off than we are right now.”
Han Xueling shifted uncomfortably, avoiding Chen Mu’s gaze.
“They’re heading toward Boss Su’s base.”
The name “Boss Su” hit Chen Mu like a physical blow.
His mind flashed back to a month ago when Boss Su had visited his base, announcing her plans and offering benefits that, at the time, he had scoffed at.
She had talked about better living conditions, 24/7 electricity, cheap food, and free water.
Back then, Chen Mu had laughed at her.
He had dismissed her as an ambitious fool, someone who was trying to grow a small, insignificant base by making impossible promises.
His own base, Raven Base, had been stronger, more fortified, and more established than hers.
