Chapter 155: Chapter 155: Deal
He hadn’t believed for a second that anyone from his base would abandon the safety and power of Raven Base to join someone like her.
But now, with the extreme heat ravaging everything, he realized just how wrong he had been.
“What do you mean they’re leaving for Boss Su’s base?” Chen Mu asked, his voice dangerously quiet.
Han Xueling nodded, nervously glancing at his boss’s clenched fists.
“The citizens have heard that Boss Su has obtained a sun-proof cloak. It allows people to go out in the extreme heat without their skin melting off.
Apparently, she’s also opened a supermarket where food is affordable and available in abundance.
With the situation here getting worse every day, they think they have a better chance of surviving at her base.”
Chen Mu felt his chest tighten with rage, frustration, and a creeping sense of dread. “How do they know all of this?” he demanded.
“There have been rumors,” Han Xueling continued, “and… well, Boss Su did announce some of these benefits when she visited.
At the time, no one thought much of it. But now, with the extreme heat, people are desperate. They’re willing to take the risk and leave for her base. They think they’ll be safer there.”
Chen Mu’s fists slammed down onto the desk, rattling the few remaining papers and objects that hadn’t already been thrown in previous fits of anger.
“Damn it! This is all her doing!” he roared, his voice echoing through the empty halls of the base.
He rose from his chair, pacing furiously as he processed the information.
Boss Su had planted the seeds of doubt a month ago, and now, with the right conditions, those seeds had grown into a full-blown exodus.
His people—the ones he had worked so hard to control and protect—were abandoning him for her.
For the first time, Chen Mu realized just how clever she had been.
While he had been busy managing the day-to-day operations of his base, content in his perceived strength, Boss Su had been planning for the long term.
She had prepared for this, anticipating that something like the extreme heat could turn the tide in her favor. And now, it was working.
“Boss,” Han Xueling interrupted his thoughts, “the people are already packing their bags. They’re preparing to march to Boss Su’s base. If we don’t act now, we’ll lose the rest of them by morning.”
Chen Mu’s heart sank.
He could feel his empire crumbling beneath him.
If the remaining citizens left, he would be left with nothing—just a few loyal subordinates, and even they wouldn’t be able to sustain the base.
He was teetering on the edge of complete collapse, and the realization made his blood run cold.
He slammed his fist into the wall, the pain shooting up his arm doing nothing to dull the helplessness gnawing at him.
“How could I have been so blind?” he muttered to himself, his voice barely audible.
How could he not see Boss Su’s scheming at that time?
Han Xueling watched in silence, knowing there was nothing he could say to ease the situation.
Chen Mu had never felt so defeated in his life. He had always been the one in control, the one who called the shots.
But now, it was slipping through his fingers.

All because he had provoked and underestimated Boss Su.
She hadn’t just taken his citizens—she had taken his pride, his power, and the very foundation of his base.
For the first time in his life, Chen Mu felt like a fool.
How easily she had played him, setting the stage for his downfall with nothing more than a few promises and a well-timed visit.
He collapsed into his chair, feeling utterly defeated.
His mind raced, trying to think of a way out of this mess, but the truth was undeniable—Boss Su had won.
And he had lost everything.
Just then his phone rang.
Looking at the name flashing on the phone, Chen Mu’s eyes flashed with malice.
No.
If he was destined to end with nothing, that b*tch Boss Su should end with nothing too!
“Hello, Dong Shin? I am sorry, for not picking up your calls earlier…I was just busy with the matter regarding my base.
You want your payment? Sure. How much do you want? What? 100 kg of rice and 100 kg of sprouts? Okay, I will try my best to get this ready for you.
But can you please do what I asked you to do? Please don’t let the military sell any land to Boss Su, delay it as long as it is possible.”
Chen Mu’s grip tightened on the phone as he spoke.
His tone, once filled with desperation, now dripped with malice.
His base may have been falling apart, but he wasn’t going down without a fight.
If Boss Su thought she could steal his citizens and build her empire on the ruins of his, she was gravely mistaken.
“Yes, Dong Shin,” he said, forcing a veneer of calm into his voice.
“I’ll have the rice and sprouts ready for you. I know resources are tight, but I can manage it—just as long as you follow through on your end of the deal.”
There was a pause on the other end of the line, as Dong Shin seemed to consider the offer.
Chen Mu could hear faint chatter in the background, likely Dong Shin’s subordinates.
Finally, Dong Shin spoke again, his voice laced with skepticism.
“You think you can stop her? That woman’s been making waves in all the right circles, and with this heat, people are desperate for anything she’s selling.
The military’s already interested in her proposal. I’ve stalled as much as I could, but they won’t wait forever.”
Chen Mu’s jaw clenched, the veins on his temple pulsing with tension.
“I don’t care what it takes,” he hissed. “Delay the sale, disrupt her plans, whatever you need to do. You want my goods? Then make sure that land stays out of her hands. Do whatever it takes to slow her down.”
