Chapter 181: Chapter 181: Consequences
The silence stretched between Su Jiyai and the system, thick with tension.
“Well?” she said, her voice low and sharp. “Are you going to continue your half-truths, or are we done playing games?”
The system’s voice, when it finally responded, was laced with something close to resignation.
[I admit, Host, I’ve been withholding information. Not because I want to deceive you, but because the knowledge you seek is dangerous. Knowing too much too soon could put you at greater risk.]
Su Jiyai’s laugh was cold and bitter.
“Dangerous? I’m already living in a world overrun by zombies. What could possibly be more dangerous than that?”
[You’re not wrong,] the system said carefully.
[But the forces behind this apocalypse are beyond your comprehension. There are things that even I cannot fully understand. All the things which you said were true.]
“Tell me something I don’t already know,” Su Jiyai muttered, crossing her arms as she leaned back against the sofa.
Her sharp eyes never left the ceiling, as if seeing through it to a sky filled with unseen dangers.
[The voices you heard, the ones in that other dimension,] the system began, [they aren’t just figments of your imagination.
They’re part of a larger entity—one that exists beyond this realm. I can’t name it because I don’t know its true form.
But what I do know is that it’s been watching this world, manipulating it for eons. The apocalypse, the zombies, the chaos—it’s all part of a design that goes beyond human understanding.]
Su Jiyai narrowed her eyes,
“Why? Why does it want chaos?”
[Maybe because it’s a psychopath? Or maybe it loves to create chaos.]
Su Jiyai chuckled, her eyes were radiating coldness as she asked,
“First of all, no one would go all out of their way to create chaos just to love it, even psychopath has their own backstory.
You are hiding facts from me now. Tell me the truth. And stop f*cking suppressing my intelligence.
You do that sh*t one more time and I will f*cking terminate the contract right way.”
Earlier Su Jiyai never felt the pressure, but now she realized that the damned system would indirectly create pressure on her brain, whenever it wanted to avoid a question.
[Host, I can tell you the truth. But only once you reach level 5.]
“System looks like you don’t understand. You are in no place to negotiate. Either tell me the damn f*cking truth or I will terminate the binding with you.”
[Host, I have certain rules that I can’t cross. But I can tell a part of the truth or else if you want to listen to the entire truth, you would have to die.]
Su Jiyai’s eyes flickered with anger at the system’s deflection.
“Die, huh? That’s your solution?”
The system remained silent for a moment before responding, its voice softer, almost cautious.
[It’s not my choice, Host. The knowledge you seek is tied to forces beyond both of us. If you wish to learn the whole truth, your body cannot handle it in its current state. You’d need to transcend death itself.]
Su Jiyai’s lips curled into a cold, bitter smile.

“Transcend death, huh? Sounds like a convenient way for you to get rid of me. And then what? You find another host?”
[No! I would never—]
“Spare me the lies,” she interrupted, her voice sharp.
“You’ve been guiding me, suppressing me, even now—using your so-called rules as an excuse to control me.”
[Very well, Host. I can tell you part of the truth. But understand this—what you are asking for is beyond the bounds of what I am allowed to disclose. There are consequences, even for me.]
Su Jiyai’s expression didn’t soften. “Spare me the warnings. Just talk.”
[Host ask me whatever you want to know.]
“Purpose of this entity.”
[Think of it like an organism a person that feeds on destruction, fear, and suffering. It grows stronger by plunging worlds into chaos.
Each apocalypse it creates is like fuel to sustain its existence. It’s not acting out of malice or even hatred—it’s doing what it needs to do to survive.]
“You mean its power increases if it creates chaos?” Su Jiyai understood a part of the reason. Yet she felt something was amiss.
[Yes host.]
“So according to this theory, I am a thorn in their eyes, right?” Su Jiyai asked. “This would explain why they wanted to kill me or make me their slave.”
[They wanted to make you their slave?]
“Yup, and I almost agreed.”
[Host you can’t do that…]
“Yeah? What about? You can leave me in a dangerous place and act as if everything is fine?” Su Jiyai sounded a bit angry.
[Host I didn’t leave you. I even hired a girl to open a portal for you. I even paid a hefty price for it.]
Su Jiyai raised an eyebrow,
“Explain yourself.”
Just the two words were enough for the system to tell everything.
[Host when you were trapped in that dungeon, I was forcefully disconnected from you. I instantly knew that those entities were the ones behind the disconnection. So I found a woman who just happened to awaken a superpower and made a deal with her. Since her superpower was on a low level I even gave her a cultivation increasing pill.]
Su Jiyai was a bit curious and asked,
“Till what level the power can be increased?”
[10 levels. If you are on level 2, your cultivation would jump to level 12.]
“Such pills exist? I want one too.” Su Jiyai’s eyes brightened.
[Host…these types of pills…can’t be bought with federal coins or points or zombie crystal cores.]
“Then?” Su Jiyai was confused.
[Dead bodies. I paid 6 dead bodies for just one pill.]
Su Jiyai’s face drained of color as the weight of the system’s confession settled over her. Her fingers, which had been idly tapping the armrest, stilled.
Su Jiyai’s stomach churned.
“You mean to tell me you killed six people just to get me out of that dungeon? Who were they?”
