Chapter 197: Chapter 197: Skip A Mission
He looked down at Su Jiyai, his expression thoughtful, yet there was a flash of something darker in his eyes.
Su Jiyai, perched on the bed, kept her gaze steady. She had to know the truth.
Lin Hao sighed and leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms over his chest. He remained silent for a long moment as if weighing his words carefully. Su Jiyai’s tail flicked impatiently as she watched him.
“Qin Feng and I…” Lin Hao began slowly, “We are very close. Closer than you can imagine.”
Su Jiyai’s ears perked up. However, Lin Hao turned silent before changing the subject,
“Is there anything more you want to ask?”
Lin Hao kissed Su Jiyai’s head. Su Jiyai moved away her head in disgust, however she was feeling conflicted.
The truth was…she had another question in her mind.
She wanted to ask: Are you my brother? Are you biologically related to me?
However, for some reason, she didn’t dare. She was fearful, fearful that his answer would be no.
In the end, Su Jiyai did the opposite.
She tapped on some letter and when Lin Hao pieced together the words, his face turned dark.
“You want to leave?”
Su Jiyai nodded her head.
“Why?”
Once again Su Jiyai tapped the notepad, this time more slowly, carefully selecting each letter. Lin Hao’s face grew even darker as he pieced together the message: I want to return to Boss Su.
“Boss Su? She is not a good person.”
Su Jiyai was instantly enraged. She growled causing Lin Hao to pause. After a few seconds, a helpless smile appeared on his face as he asked,
“Why do you even like her? She sent you on a dangerous mission.”
Su Jiyai shook her head.
At last, after Su Jiyai’s repeated insistence, Lin Hao could only let Su Jiyai go. For the last time, he reminded her,
“If Boss Su threatens you or blackmails you to go on a dangerous mission firmly refuse her. If she dares to force you, just close your eyes and think of me.”
Su Jiyai nodded. Honestly, she was feeling guilty and helpless. Even though she was reluctant to leave Lin Hao’s side, her progress was lagging behind so she decided to return to her underground base.
Once downstairs, Su Jiyai busied herself in her daily life.
The rent given by the tenants was rising day by day indicating the arrival of new tenants. Suddenly her system gave a prompt.
[Ding! Congratulations host for completing the task: Rent out 1000 rooms. The reward of 100,000 points and 1000 experience points has been obtained..]
[Ding! Congratulations host for completing the task: Start a factory to process honey. The reward of 20,000 points has been obtained.]
A satisfied smile appeared on Su Jiyai’s face. The factory was made by her just 5 days ago.
She hired some workers to process the honey according to the formula while giving zombie crystals to the Steel Wasps in exchange for their honey.

In the past 2 days, the first batch of honey was produced but Su Jiyai didn’t put it on sale right away. Instead, she asked the workers to make a few more batches.
Once the honey starts to be sold in store, the superhumans in the base would become even more strong.
[Ding! A mission has been triggered! Rent out 10,000 rooms (1000/10,000).
Reward: 1 million points, and upgrade to level 3]
Su Jiyai’s eyes brightened. Once she reaches level 5, she won’t need to hide her face.
Then she could be with her lover openly. No need to keep secrets, no need to act secretive.
Scrolling through the list of the mission, Su Jiyai’s eyes caught a mission she had ignored for a long time.
[Explore the Crystal Cove Moutain Area!
Rewards: ???]
“System, can I not do this mission?” Su Jiyai asked.
This mission was issued before her visit to the vampire world. Since then few months had passed. Was this mission still valid?
Su Jiyai guessed that the mission was issued for resources.
She already has many resources now, so if she skips the mission there should be no problem, right?
However, to her surprise, the system strongly opposed it.
[No host! You have to complete this mission anyhow. It is very important.]
Su Jiyai frowned, her tail flicking in irritation at the system’s insistence.
“Why is it so important?” she asked, her mind racing through possibilities. The system had never been so adamant about a mission before.
The system’s reply was immediate but vague.
[Host will understand once the mission is completed.]
“Fine,” she muttered under her breath. “I’ll go later.”
Su Jiyai stretched her hands and started to absorb space zombie crystals. These days she kept on feeling as if she might break through any second.
….
Huo Ning stared at her in a daze. It has been more than a month since her life turned peaceful.
No more experiments, no more pain, no more fear of getting kicked out, and no more fear of getting caught.
At first, when she arrived at Boss Su’s base, she didn’t hold my expectations. She expected herself to live in a dirty place with hardly anything to eat.
That was what the institute had taught her and it was indeed true. However, Boss Su’s base was an exception. It was more like an anomaly in the apocalypse.
Clean, peaceful, affordable, and lively.
Huo Ning didn’t know how the world was before the apocalypse, however, she had an estimation in her heart.
It was…something like Boss Su’s place.
At first, Huo Ning was careful about her every move, fearing she would be kicked out if she didn’t show her usefulness to Boss Su.
So once she was given her room, she started to help Yuan Xin out.
She was filled with confidence. With her intelligence and confidence, she took the role of assistant, only to be slapped on her face by reality.
It was then, that Huo Ning realized she was the worst assistant…no to be precise…she was worst at communicating.
