Chapter 201: Chapter 201: Half Zombies
The walls of the attic shook violently, and the ceiling above her cracked and splintered.
Before Su Jiyai could react, the entire attic floor gave way beneath her, and she plunged downward, surrounded by dust and debris.
She hit the ground hard, the impact knocking the wind out of her.
Pain shot through her body as she landed awkwardly on her side, her vision blurring from the force of the fall.
Through the haze of her disorientation, Su Jiyai caught glimpses of her surroundings.
The attic was gone, and in its place was a strange lab-like area filled with blinking lights, glowing tubes, and futuristic equipment.
The walls were lined with machines that hummed softly, casting an eerie blue light over the room.
Despite her blurry vision, Su Jiyai felt a deep sense of déjà vu, as if she had been in this very place before.
The machines, the strange energy in the air—it was all familiar, yet just beyond the reach of her understanding.
Her head throbbed as she tried to focus, to make sense of it all, but the memories remained elusive.
As Su Jiyai struggled to push herself up, she heard the woman’s voice again, now filled with raw panic.
“No! Let me go! Please, no!”
Su Jiyai’s ears twitched.
She turned her head just in time to see several men in dark uniforms enter the lab, their faces obscured by visors.
They moved with precision, grabbing the woman by the arms and dragging her away.
The woman thrashed violently, her voice echoing through the room in desperate cries for help.
“No! Don’t take me! Please, J, help me!” the woman screamed, her voice hoarse from the effort.
Su Jiyai’s heart clenched as she watched the woman struggle, her cries filling the cat’s ears.
There was something heartbreaking in her pleas, something that tugged at Su Jiyai’s instincts to protect her.
But before she could move, J spoke again, his robotic voice laced with an odd hesitation.
“I… I cannot…” J murmured, his voice faltering for the first time.
Su Jiyai squinted, trying to focus through her blurred vision, and saw J kneeling in front of one of the machines, his body trembling.
It was as if he was fighting against something—perhaps his own mind.
For a moment, silence filled the lab, broken only by the woman’s soft sobs and J’s labored breathing.
Then, just as Su Jiyai thought the situation couldn’t get any worse, a new portal ripped open in the air.
But this time, the portal didn’t appear in front of Su Jiyai.
Instead, it materialized behind the woman, its swirling vortex casting a harsh light over the lab.
The men holding her paused, their grip slackening as they stared in shock at the portal.
Su Jiyai’s heart skipped a beat.

Why was the portal so far away?
Ignoring the pain in her body, Su Jiyai bolted toward the woman, her blue fur rippling as she sprinted across the lab.
The men were momentarily distracted by the portal, giving Su Jiyai just enough time to close the distance.
Nearing the portal, Su Jiyai watched with wide eyes as the woman was sucked inside the portal too.
Before her eyes closed Su Jiyai only had one idea,
‘She is doomed.’
The next second when Su Jiyai opened her eyes she found herself in the lush green garden. Before she could understand where she was, a portal opened and swallowed her in.
The process was repeated for more than 9 times. Each time Su Jiyai would lose consciousness after entering the portal.
As soon as she opens her eyes, Su Jiyai would be sucked into a portal.
Just as Su Jiyai thought it would continue, at the 10th round, however, when she woke up, she found herself in a lab-like area.
Su Jiyai blinked as her surroundings swirled into focus once more, her body aching from the relentless cycle of being pulled into and spat out of portals.
For a moment, she could only lie there, her breath coming in short gasps as her eyes darted around the lab-like area she found herself in.
It was eerily similar to the one she had seen before, but this one seemed even more advanced, filled with strange equipment and blinking lights.
She was in a corner, hidden by shadows, and her instincts immediately flared to life. Something was wrong.
She tried to call out her system, but no response came.
“System?” she whispered urgently, her voice barely a breath.
Nothing.
It was as if her connection had been severed.
Her usual calm was now replaced by a creeping anxiety that tightened her chest.
She could hear footsteps approaching.
Her body tensed as the figures drew closer, and she quickly glanced around for a place to hide.
Spotting a cluster of large machines, Su Jiyai darted behind them, her blue-furred tail wrapping tightly around her as she crouched low to the ground.
First step of survival if you don’t know the area you are in, hide if you hear any sound of footsteps approaching.
The door to the lab slid open with a hiss, and Su Jiyai’s breath caught in her throat as she saw three people enter.
“Everything’s set,” a woman said, her voice cool and calculated. Su Jiyai peeked around the corner to catch a glimpse of the speaker.
She was tall, with sharp features and a confident demeanor.
“Dr. Mei,” Su Jiyai recalled the name from the snippets of conversation she had overheard.
“The breeding process is entering its final phase,” Dr. Mei continued, speaking to a middle-aged man beside her, who nodded grimly.
“Yes, but we must be careful. It has failed every time we’ve gotten this close,” the man, Dr. Pan, replied, his voice steady but filled with caution.
Su Jiyai’s heart raced. Breeding process? Half-zombies? She felt a chill run down her spine as their words sank in.
They were experimenting on humans and zombies, trying to create something in between.
Half-zombies? What could they possibly want with such creatures?
