Chapter 204: Chapter 204:
Without thinking, Su Jiyai let out a feral hiss, and her claws extended instinctively.
In one swift motion, she lashed out at Jake’s face, her sharp claws raking across his cheek.
Three bloody marks appeared instantly, red streaks marring his pale skin.
Jake froze for a moment, clearly not expecting the sudden attack.
Su Jiyai, now realizing what she had done, closed her eyes and braced herself. She was sure this was it.
Jake was going to retaliate.
He’d probably snap her tiny cat form like a twig, or worse. She waited, her heart pounding in her chest.
But instead of the expected pain or fury, Jake’s laughter filled the room.
Su Jiyai’s eyes snapped open in surprise. Jake was laughing—full, genuine laughter, the kind that made his shoulders shake.
“You…” he managed between chuckles, wiping the blood from his cheek with his thumb. “You’re so… interesting.”
Interesting?
Su Jiyai thought, staring at him in utter disbelief.
He was bleeding, and all he could think to say was that she was interesting.
Was he perhaps a masochist?
Jake reached out and gently patted her head, his fingers running through her soft fur.
Su Jiyai stiffened, unsure of what to make of his actions.
“You’re full of surprises, aren’t you?” he mused, his tone shifting into something almost… tender.
“Since our last meeting, I’ve felt this strange kind of… longing for you.”
Longing? What was he talking about?
Jake’s hand moved to lightly stroke the back of her neck, sending a weird tingle down her spine.
His gaze had softened, his usual arrogance replaced with something more complicated, something that confused her even more.
Su Jiyai’s brain short-circuited at his words. Longing? Was this some sort of twisted joke?
Had Jake lost his mind?
She wanted to hiss at him, to demand what the hell he was playing at, but all she could do was glare up at him in disbelief.
As if reading her thoughts, Jake’s lips curved into another amused smile.
“What? You don’t believe me?” he asked, clearly enjoying her internal turmoil.
“I’m serious. You’ve been on my mind. Not that I want you to feel too flattered or anything. I’m still trying to figure out what’s wrong with me.”
Su Jiyai finally found her bearings enough to shoot him a sharp look, one that clearly said: You’re a lunatic.
Jake’s grin widened.

“That look again. You’re lucky I find you so entertaining, or I might actually be upset about the scratches.”
Su Jiyai couldn’t believe what she was hearing.
Entertaining? Was he completely deranged?
She didn’t know whether to feel relieved or even more concerned about Jake’s behavior. He was acting so… bizarrely.
It wasn’t like the Jake she knew—the cold, calculating vampire who just wanted to snap her neck and kill her.
This Jake, with his teasing and odd confessions, was a far cry from the dangerous man she had encountered before. What had changed?
“You’ve gotten quiet, little cat,” Jake said softly, his fingers still playing absently with her fur.
“Are you plotting my demise again?”
Su Jiyai narrowed her eyes at him, mentally screaming every sarcastic insult she could think of.
Plotting? I wish I could burn you to a crisp, you infuriating bloodsucker!
Jake laughed again, seemingly undeterred by her silent fury.
“Whatever you’re thinking, I’m sure it’s entertaining.”
He sighed softly, his tone becoming more thoughtful.
“You really are different, though. I guess that’s why I keep thinking about you.”
Su Jiyai was too stunned to respond, her thoughts too jumbled to make sense of any of this.
What on earth had gotten into Jake?
The sound of the door knocking startled both Su Jiyai and Jake, breaking the strange tension in the room.
Before Jake could even respond, Dr. Mei entered, her expression sharp and unreadable.
She was followed closely by Dr. Pan, who cast a vicious glance in Su Jiyai’s direction.
Jake noticed the silent exchange and smirked.
“You know,” he said dryly, “it’s considered polite to wait for a response after knocking. But I guess privacy isn’t something we care about here?”
Dr. Mei ignored his sarcasm, her expression cold as ever.
She cut straight to the point,
“Jake, I need you to follow me. There’s something important we must discuss.”
Jake tilted his head, his eyes flickering with irritation as he cradled Su Jiyai closer to his chest.
“And I assume you’d like me to leave her with Dr. Pan, right?” he asked, voice laced with sarcasm.
“Let the man with murder in his eyes handle the cat. Sounds like a great plan.”
Su Jiyai’s ears flattened against her head, and she squirmed slightly in his grip, protesting the idea just as much as Jake was.
She could feel Dr. Pan’s killing intent from across the room, and there was no way she was letting herself be handed over to him.
Dr. Mei’s gaze hardened.
“You’re not in a position to argue, Jake. Leave her with Dr. Pan. It’s an order.”
Jake met her cold stare with his usual calm demeanor,
“And if I refuse?”
The air in the room thickened with tension. Dr. Mei narrowed her eyes, her lips pressed into a thin line.
It was clear she wasn’t used to being challenged, especially not by someone like Jake.
For a moment, Su Jiyai was sure a fight would break out, but then, to her surprise, Dr. Mei let out a small sigh, seemingly letting the matter go.
“Very well,” she said, her tone tight with restraint. “Bring her with you.”
Su Jiyai mentally breathed a sigh of relief as Jake followed Dr. Mei.
After several minutes, they reached a room that looked markedly different from the rest.
The door slid open with a quiet hiss, revealing a sterile, clinical space.
At the center was a bed surrounded by strange machines, each connected to tubes filled with a green liquid that glowed faintly under the artificial lights.
As soon as Jake stepped into the room, Su Jiyai felt him tense.
His usually confident demeanor wavered for a split second, and Su Jiyai noticed his face pale slightly, his jaw tightening as if he were trying to suppress some deep-seated fear
