Chapter 217: Chapter 217: Generosity
Xi Ping’s stomach turned, but she forced herself to remain calm.
“I see. And what happens if I refuse?”
Her foster father’s smile faltered.
“Xi Ping, be reasonable. This is for all of our benefit. The base isn’t kind to people who refuse its generosity.”
“Generosity,” she repeated flatly. “You mean exploitation.”
Her foster father slammed his hand on the table, his temper flaring.
“Watch your mouth, girl! Do you have any idea how much we’ve sacrificed for you? You owe us!”
Xi Ping’s composure cracked, her anger bubbling to the surface.
“I owe you? I’ve risked my life every day to meet those insane quotas while you sit here and plot to sell me off like cattle!
Also if you are talking about the matter of adopting me then let me tell you something, I have repaid my debt more than by half and continue to pay the remaining in a few years. If anything, you owe me!”
Her foster mother flinched, but her foster father stood, his face red with rage.
“You ungrateful brat! Do you think you can survive out there on your own? You’re nothing without us!”
Xi Ping rose to her feet, her voice steady despite the storm inside her.
“Maybe I am nothing without you. But I’d rather be nothing than stay here and let you decide my fate.”
She was ready to walk out, to leave behind the so-called family that had betrayed her so completely.
But before she could take a step, a sharp, sudden pain exploded at the back of her head.
Her vision blurred, and her legs gave out beneath her.
As she crumpled to the floor, she caught a glimpse of her foster brother, Wei Long, standing behind her with a smug grin, his arm still raised from delivering the blow.
The edges of her sight darkened, but she could still hear the cold triumph in his voice.
“I told you she’d rebel,” Wei Long said, his tone dripping with self-satisfaction.
“I’ve been watching her for days. She’s too prideful to just go along with the plan. That’s why I prepared for this.”
Xi Ping’s mind reeled as she fought to stay conscious, the world spinning around her.
She wanted to scream, to curse, to fight back, but her body refused to respond.
The voices above her continued, each word driving another knife into her heart.
“Well done, son,” her foster father said, his voice filled with approval. “You’ve saved us a lot of trouble.”
Her foster mother chimed in, her tone light and almost cheerful.
“I was worried for a moment, but Wei Long always knows how to handle things. You’ve been such a blessing to this family.”
Xi Ping’s stomach churned.
Her foster family, the people who had taken her in when she had no one else, were not only willing to sell her but were congratulating each other on subduing her like she was nothing more than a disobedient animal.

“Mother,” Wei Long said, his voice oozing with self-importance, “when is the deal going through? I need to make sure Xi Ping stays locked up until then. Can’t have her pulling anything stupid.”
“Oh, don’t worry about that,” her foster mother replied with a sweet smile in her voice.
“The vice president said it’ll be finalized in a week. We just need to keep her in check until then.”
“A week,” Wei Long repeated thoughtfully.
“Plenty of time to make sure she doesn’t cause any problems. I’ll keep an eye on her.”
Xi Ping’s heart sank further.
They were already plotting to confine her, to strip her of any chance of escape.
The casual way they spoke about her fate, as if she were a mere object to be handed over, filled her with a sickening despair.
Her foster father’s voice cut through her swirling thoughts.
“Good. Once the deal is done, our lives will finally get easier. No more worrying about quotas or scraping by. And if the vice president is satisfied with her, who knows? Maybe he’ll reward us even more.”
Wei Long chuckled darkly.
“Satisfied? I’ve heard the old man has quite the appetite. Poor Xi Ping better learn fast how to keep him happy, or she’ll be tossed aside like garbage.”
Her foster mother giggled nervously.
“Now, now, let’s not talk like that. The vice president values his… acquisitions. Xi Ping will adjust.”
Xi Ping’s fists clenched weakly at her sides, her fading consciousness struggling against the weight of their words.
They’re treating me like a tool… like I don’t even matter.
Not that she ever had any misconception that they liked her. But she never imagined they would dare to sell her.
Her rage burned beneath the surface, but her body refused to obey her commands.
“Let’s move her,” Wei Long said, breaking her thoughts.
“I’ll lock her in the back room for now. We’ll make sure she doesn’t get another chance to run off.”
“Good idea,” her foster father agreed. “And don’t forget to check on her regularly. We can’t risk anything going wrong.”
As strong hands grabbed her arms and began dragging her across the floor, Xi Ping’s fading mind latched onto a single thought:
I won’t let them win. I’ll find a way out. I’ll fight, no matter what it takes.
Her foster family didn’t know she had super strength too.
They thought she only had super speed and teleportation as her powers. Thank god she had a trump card.
Once I regain my consciousness see how I will deal with you beast.
Darkness finally claimed her.
What Xi Ping didn’t know was the next time she opened her eyes she would find herself in a completely different environment.
………………
That night, Su Jiyai fell into a deep sleep, but her dreams were anything but peaceful.
She found herself wandering through strange, distorted landscapes—vast fields that stretched endlessly under a blood-red sky, towering cliffs that crumbled as soon as she approached them.
Shadows flitted at the edges of her vision, figures she couldn’t quite make out, but they felt familiar.
