Chapter 222: Chapter 222: Engery Potion
“Bring the controller to me. Now!” he barked into the device, his voice filled with urgency.
But the line was dead.
Frustration boiled over as the general continued to fight, his body dodging and blocking attacks that came at him from all directions.
His barrier flickered as he repelled the relentless strikes, but he could feel his strength waning.
One of the soldiers threw a fireball, and the general barely managed to sidestep it, the heat scorching the air around him.
With no response from his subordinate and no way to regain control of his soldiers, the general was left fighting for his life.
His strikes were growing slower, his movements less precise, and his breath came in ragged gasps.
He could feel his powers declining, slipping through his fingers like sand.
In a moment of desperation, he reached into his coat and pulled out a vial of bright red liquid—a high-grade energy potion.
Without hesitation, he uncorked the bottle and downed it in one gulp.
A surge of power coursed through his veins, his muscles tightening, his vision sharpening as the potion’s effects took hold.
He could feel his energy returning, his strength rejuvenating.
The strange smell filled the air, but the general didn’t pay it any mind. His only focus was survival.
With renewed vigor, he launched himself into the fray, his attacks becoming more ferocious.
But no matter how many soldiers he cut down, more seemed to take their place, their eyes blank and their faces devoid of emotion. It was as if they were endless.
On the other side of the hallway, Jake and the blue cat, Su Jiyai, watched the scene unfold with a calm detachment.
Jake, still holding Su Jiyai in his arms, glanced down at her with mild curiosity.
“How long do you think he’ll last?” Jake asked, his voice casual as if they were discussing the weather.
Su Jiyai, perched in his arms with a bored expression, yawned.
“Half an hour, at most,” she replied, her voice laced with indifference.
Jake hummed thoughtfully, his eyes following the general’s desperate attempts to fight back.
His interest shifted slightly, and he turned to Su Jiyai, his brow furrowing in thought.
“By the way,” he asked, “how is it that I can suddenly understand your words?”
Su Jiyai, who had been preoccupied with watching the battle, went quiet at the question.
Her blue eyes flickered for a moment, but she said nothing, turning her gaze back to the general.
She didn’t have an answer—at least, not one she could give.
The truth was, even she didn’t know. It had happened so suddenly, with no explanation.
However, she had her theories.
Su Jiyai’s mind drifted as she recalled how it had all started, just two weeks ago, when Jake first realized he could understand her words.

“That’s the million-dollar question, isn’t it?” Jake smirked.
Suddenly he froze mid-sentence.
His sharp eyes narrowed as he turned to her, his brow furrowed in confusion. Su Jiyai blinked, not immediately realizing what had caught his attention.
“Wait! How can I understand your words?” he said, his voice barely above a whisper. His eyes widened as he stared at her, disbelief washing over his usually cold demeanor.
For a moment, Su Jiyai had felt a jolt of alarm.
Huh? Oh right! How could he understand her?
Jake’s initial shock, followed by suspicion, had left her uneasy. “How… how is this possible?” he had asked, his voice almost trembling with confusion.
Su Jiyai had quickly masked her own uncertainty. The truth was, she wasn’t entirely sure herself. But deep down, she had a theory—a theory she wasn’t quite ready to share with Jake.
The vampire blood.
It flowed in her veins, too, though in a different way from Jake.
He was a vampire since birth…well that was Su Jiyai thought.
While she…she was bitten by a third vampire prince.
It had changed her physiology, her powers, and, apparently, her ability to communicate in her feline form.
But why could Jake suddenly understand her now?
She had deflected the question then, suggesting instead that they test whether Jake’s newfound ability was unique to him or if others could hear her as well.
They had conducted the experiment with a few soldiers later that day.
Su Jiyai had deliberately meowed at one of the soldiers, making a snide remark about his sloppy sword technique.
As expected, the soldier heard nothing but a cat’s meow, oblivious to the insult.
Jake had watched, his expression thoughtful, as he confirmed his suspicion. No one else could hear her words—only him.
That revelation had confirmed one thing: Jake’s ability to understand her wasn’t a fluke.
She had been around him for a day before he suddenly understood her speech.
Su Jiyai’s gaze flickered as her thoughts returned to the strange dream, she had before Jake started to understand her words.
Her instincts told her that something from the dream allowed her to have a conversation with Jake.
The dream had started around the same time Jake began to understand her.
What had she forgotten? And how did it relate to Jake’s sudden ability to communicate with her?
Jake’s voice pulled her out of her thoughts, and she blinked, her attention returning to the present.
“Are you going to tell me or not?” Jake asked, his tone casual, but there was an underlying curiosity in his eyes.
He wasn’t one to let things go easily, especially when it involved something as mysterious as this.
Su Jiyai glanced up at him, her expression unreadable. She opened her mouth to say something but hesitated.
What could she tell him?
That she is a half vampire too and that might be the reason?
But she doesn’t trust Jake. Hence she changed the topic and asked,
“How much will it take for them to return?”
Before Jake could answer, the system’s voice echoed in her mind.
[Host they still haven’t found it yet. Please wait for an hour.]
Yes her system returned.
Just one week ago when she was mid-way through her plan with Jake, a voice sounded in her mind.
